Why 2H weapons not count as 2 set parts?

I've read the counter arguments in this thread why this or something similar should not be done. I don't find them persuasive at all.

Firstly - duel wielding does not gimp your damage. In fact - it increases it.

So there goes the argument that there is some kind of damage penalty if you choose not to use a two-hander and therefore the extra set bonus is needed to balance things out.

Secondly - and as someone who uses two-handers (staves) let me just say there is nothing in the Destruction Stave skill line for example that is over-powered when compared to the duel wield skill line. There just isn't.

So both counter arguments fall flat as far as I'm concerned. I remain in the OP's corner - and believe characters who use two-handed weapons should have access to just as many set bonuses as characters who use one-handed weapons.

I never said dual wield had less damage. We're talking about a 5 pc bonus. I use destro and I don't need the extra bonus, I also dont build with monster sets on my mag sorc. Whether or not something in the destro skill line is op isn't the debate. I kill dps with my mag sorc, I don't use the meta build either. The point being is 2h is not crippled by the 5pc bonus. It only becomes crippled when you don't build it right. My current setup is just dirty, why because I have taken the time to test and adjust my gear and cp distribution. Oh and I get my second 5pc because I don't run monster sets. 7 armor 3 jewelry and 1 weapon slot, 11 pieces. Allows enough for 2 full 5 piece sets and 1 maelstrom or master weapon.

This whole argument, IMHO seems to be built around the meta sets currently running in the game. Seriously just figure out what works and build around your play style.
