Or maybe don't judge people you don't know?

Or maybe just let people do what they want with their own money and not try to discourage them.

Or maybe recognize when a practice is exploitative of consumers and try everything you can to discourage it. It's like the turn of the century with companies putting wood pulp in flour because they could get away with it, only now it's the digital marketplace that's in shambles. I've had enough wood in my mouth to know when someone's trying to make me a sucker and I will not just be silent and watch it happen.

Hmmm you feel sick because people are spending their money in whatever they wish to spend? Because people are supporting something that you don't actually support/doesn't approve?

Dude chill, for real, it's just some stupid shallow gamble boxes in virtual world, they MEAN NOTHING. Is not like they will steal your job or a randon person dies everytime they open one. I know we disagree on the subject, but perharps you indeed need to take a time and breath some fresh air outside.

Now this be silly...I logged in in Rawl`kha.... saw a bunch of storm atro mounts doing their thing, howling etc by the wayshrine ... Mounts wich, by the way, dont really interest me= I would not choose to buy one if they were in store..
I then saw a clouded senche ride by and wondered if it had been won from a crate or not. Did some craft research and then hopped on my mount only to realise that yes, now I, too was riding a clouded senche, my old beloved clouded senche- and propably many people would wonder the same thing. Sigh. I do not want that! !!!
(Id also spent some time during maintenance to play dress up doll with my lvl 7. or so young dunmers PTS copy, who looked very very good in the old evening dress, 1st dress I ever bought from the store. Now also known as a crate advertisement, especially if worn by a young char.)

Then I rode off to a very sneaky location to look at the crown store and the crates, lol: and there was another person there in my sneaky location, looking at the store .
Looked at the store and found it obnoxious the gem conversion rates are not told outright- though I did find out some on the forum, and looks like if I wanted a tiny wizard hat with a spiral in the tip, I would need to buy 1500 worth crates to be sure to get it from converting consumables- unless I got it from the 4 cosmetic items from the crates, but propably those would all be imperial battlemage stuff, sornhelm sepherds plus Apex attro mounts I do not want!
Not even going to count how much gems I`d need for a cub for my clouded senche- enough anyway to ruin a perfect plan of getting a fair and square Elk mount for Xmas ;).
Did not cave to buy any crates :)

And cheers to all the PAWS folk for yer being positively against wrip of stuff. I would join PAWS but I fear it would bad for me, might make me cave in and try "just once" if I`d signed in to say I should not :persevere:
But still Thanks @SantieClaws for Paws, my khajiit Skibassa sends her regards: "This one will try to keep her claws sharp and her paws away from her old not so much friend anymore Pacrooti and his wicked trade."
And not just my khajiit but I too wonder why there is so much "bad bad skooma" finger shaking skooma trade quests/npc comments and now these crates are ok by ZOS, Pacrooti turning in to their dealer is "cute" ?
And thanks @Cazzy for this thread! Sry long rant, had to let out some steam.

I know I am not the best to say this, but don't let this issue rob you from your own enjoyment. I'm keeping in mind that next week I'm getting my Ice Wolf, Frostbite.

Since a tweet I saw yesterday that I won't disclosure or discuss here, I had my hope for the future of the game renewed. I still think the odds are against us but maybe there is still a chance.

Meanwhile, don't let these thoughts harm you.

Yeah the crates alone aren't the issue tbh. Just seeing some of the posts going around atm. Community spirit is fading, the game is heading in a bad direction (and I've had a really bad week in my personal life). It's just stressful and disheartening to see something you loved and worked hard for break in a matter of moments. The community isn't as tight knit as it once was and I tried - So. Hard. - to make it better.

The company don't care about that now. That's why I feel sick. I feel like I've lost friends tbh

If you've been paying even a minute bit of attention to those of us who are against it then you wouldn't have had to post this at all. I don't think a single person posting against these scamcrates has ever said "People, don't go out and spend your money on this." Since they've been announced, all we have been doing is bringing to light on how damaging these things are for a healthy long term game. Since we knew they were coming we've been vehemently posting against them at least hoping that ZOS could turn it around and do what no other company has.

If the game actually goes uphill instead of the downward spiral it has been on (one only has to look at the last few content updates or lack there of to see what I'm talking about) then every last one of us will celebrate it.

We're here because we're passionate about where this game is headed is all.

I'm probably going to move over to the PC rather than reinstall on Playstation. I have nothing to my name on PC and I kinda feel better about that. Start fresh and keep my purchases minimal.

I've also been told I am getting development access for a new game being worked on, plus I'll be working on another game in 2017 so will be busy here and there anyway.

I can keep in touch with everyone that way, like @Abeille @MissBizz @Alucardo @SantieClaws etc.

person has gamble issues, decides 4 crates wont hurt, gets a little pet doggy, seems displeased, goes to walk away but then hear "you have a lucky aura around you i can see it all you need is a crate" so thinks "sod it!" and buys another 4 cause that little voice just pushed them to do it, doesnt get anything but petty momentos but look who's saying "you'll win on the next one i'm sure of it!"

    see how their crates work?

    It is only a game.

A game we love very much and would like to see doing well for many years to come.

It's sad for us to see ESO follow the same awful pattern that the other MMOs did.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

Well then, I take back what I said about no one telling people to buy them as I didn't notice that thread. He's passionate about this game and his heart is in the right spot. He don't want to see this game go down the path like all the other games have. If anyone here cares about the long term health of this game they really do need to see the down sides what these things can bring to the table. The fact that they won't publish drop rates (so they can tinker with them as they see fit) or won't say how much is going back into the game is very worrisome.

i can still hear him mocking me, they played his tone and attitude well, it's tempting me to get another but i'm fighting it by playing pokemon instead, and i'm normally a strong willed person and he's bothered me, shows how they planned to get people into it.

i told the PTS dirty tricks like that will get them into some serious trouble but they still kept it, Zeni really needs to change their marketing team.

Thank you  I'm a girl though. I has boobies.

And my comment was about openly telling people to buy them. People were saying "Look it's not that bad" and I don't think people should encourage that.

Or maybe don't judge people you don't know?

Or maybe just let people do what they want with their own money and not try to discourage them.

Cazzy posted in another, now locked thread, asking players not to support the crates, is that not that same as asking people not to buy them?

I get that people are passionate either way, but damn its only a game and end of the day its their money.

person has gamble issues, decides 4 crates wont hurt, gets a little pet doggy, seems displeased, goes to walk away but then hear "you have a lucky aura around you i can see it all you need is a crate" so thinks "sod it!" and buys another 4 cause that little voice just pushed them to do it, doesnt get anything but petty momentos but look who's saying "you'll win on the next one i'm sure of it!"

    see how their crates work?

    it taunts them, teases them.

the scramboxes most games do are bad enough but none are as bad as Pacrooti egging you and mocking you to go on.

Most people who tried them on the pts I think thought that Pacrooti taunting them was of poor taste. They don't care obviously. I wouldn't be surprised if some psychological reasoning was involved in its design.

but in all seriousness the crates aren't my issue atm, it's the sneaky dirty underhanded taunting trick with Pacrooti that really irks me, this is the same sort of trick con men at fair's use to push people into trying over and over.

Agree with you fully there. Thought I was alone in thinking these Apex mounts are ugly looking things. That expensive panther thingy a few months back looked ok but the 'event' which happens when you call it or put it away soon got annoying. Unless in dungeons I mostly play in 1st person anyway so, other than my arm, I cannot see what I look like. To me, because I play in first person, the fancy costumes seem to be like putting Christmas lights on the front of your house. You are inside, you cannot see them, you are paying to show off to other people and not getting any benefit yourself.

That being said...I will never argue that other people cannot spend their pennies how they wish. I can only say how I will spend mine.

It was sort of funny. With all the talk about the Crown Crates, I forgot completely about the mounts themselves and what those mounts meant to me in the game.

As a rare item, I can certainly see them as being something to have in the game, but I am seeing drop rates of 1% coming out of @Enodoc and his spreadsheet. That is better than Perfect Roe, and much much better than Ciphers and Dust. They are more common, as a group, than even the Grand XP Scrolls. You are about 5x more likely to get any Apex mount than the XP Scroll.

Interestingly, it looks like the first Apex mount, for those who are not picky, costs about 8000 Crowns, average.

Edit: ZOS, will give you 8k Crowns for a Storm Atronach Senche Mount. Send me a PM.

videogame addiction kills time, not wealth.

i don't mean to come across as hostile and you don't seem to see from both sides of the issue, yes it's peoples own choice to use a thing or not but tell me, have you ever worked with people who have ended up homeless due to gambling issues?

i have. and i can tell you this was designed to target those with gamble issues specifically, as i said on the PTS i also have steam buddies who will spend HUNDREDS of dollars on boxes in DOTA2 to get the "rare/ultra rare" sets only to get junk over and over again, he even told me he didnt mean to do so much but he kept thinking maybe the next maybe the next, see how dangerous Pacrooti's taunting is? it's like having someone over your shoulder go "try again maybe that one will do it" to push you to do more. peer pressure.

I don't have a gambling issue. Not yet anyways. I do tend to have an impulsivity issue and your comment laid out what I can see happening to me in it's entirety.

nice to see someone else using my scramcrates <3 btw

i can still hear him mocking me, they played his tone and attitude well, it's tempting me to get another but i'm fighting it by playing pokemon instead, and i'm normally a strong willed person and he's bothered me, shows how they planned to get people into it.

i told the PTS dirty tricks like that will get them into some serious trouble but they still kept it, Zeni really needs to change their marketing team.

I'm not even logging in today though I know I have a guild to run and guildies to lead through trials tonight. Sure someone will put up a motd explaining their leader has PERSONAL PROBLEMS to deal with lol. Still I have to PAWS and get my head right before I can get back on. I love my people but as I said I can't be tempted.

Agreed they need new a new marketing team ASAP

Addictive because it's fun is one thing. Addictive by design is another. It's like slot machines, what you see and hear is designed to keep you pulling that handle. This sort of thing doesn't belong in a video game.

    I genuinely feel sick.

Then maybe find another game and forum smh

Or maybe don't judge people you don't know?

Or maybe just let people do what they want with their own money and not try to discourage them.

Cazzy posted in another, now locked thread, asking players not to support the crates, is that not that same as asking people not to buy them?

I get that people are passionate either way, but damn its only a game and end of the day its their money.

Thank you  I'm a girl though. I has boobies.

And my comment was about openly telling people to buy them. People were saying "Look it's not that bad" and I don't think people should encourage that.

Whoops, my bad. Ya know, the whole time I was typing "he" I was wondering if I shouldn't have been posting *he/she* instead heh. To state that you are a girl and then talk about your boobies in the same sentence on the internet...well that takes balls so hats off to ya. Nothing more can really said about this unfortunately. Either buy some crates and ride it out until the game turns to sh*t or don't buy crates and ride it out till the game turns to sh*t lol.
