Tanking Aetherial Archive with some "peculiarities"

Right now I just tanked for the first time the Aetherial Archive (\o/) and everything went nicely (\o/) until the Wispmother boss (<_<)

There I died twice because I simply couldn't see the red circles because of the high brightness of the area and of the attacks. Is there anything I can do to workaround this?

Then, against the Mage, I also died twice, even causing the team to wipe, not because my reaction was bad (it wasn't awesomely great either) but because some of the DPS apparently didn't move how they should and, when the third axe spawned, it hid itself behind the boss and I could taunt it (or even see it) because I was blocked by the big black circles.

How should I procceed in this situation, assuming there is a way to, of course.

This is why I chimed in in the color-blindness thread a while back. Being able to make the circles different colors would be useful in areas where their default color is camouflaged.

I'm sorry I know that doesn't help you presently. :/

She has a huge hit box, you can stand outside of where they hit the floor and still hit her. That applies for melee dd also, no reason whatsoever to be stuck up her arse.

Regarding the axes, in our group we have whoever is targeted by each axe run over to the tank to let him grab it. If nobody else ran it over, I would tag it with my staff and bring it with me.

Unfortunately I don't know of a good suggestion for the lack of contrast. We have been trying to work that out ourselves for one of our members. His inability to see WGT Portals when he has them could be overcome by adding enemy health bars above them, but we still haven't solved the red on the floor problem.

Sometimes in AA there are lag delays with the telegraphs as well. Last time I ran it, the floor fire/ice/shock in those first three rooms never spawned for me. Invisible damage. In that case, not a big deal, I can heal through it. But other people were not getting critical telegraphs, and being one-shot.
Why be normal when you can be better?

The red on red in this game is infuriating. You taunt and it applies a red flame like glowing that is impossible to see if there are fire attacks.

Between that and some buffs having zero visual cues it's just poor design.

That's quite a good idea, thank you :)

For the Wisp Mother, it helps to stand further back. You can be several meters away from her and still hit her with all your melee abilities.

Also, the Wisp Mother's main attack is a ranged attack. That can be reflected. As a mag DK tank, I can keep virtually 100% uptime on my reflective wings. The last time I tanked her, I did almost 3 million damage to her through the fight, almost all of it from reflecting her attacks back at her. And as a bonus, since you're reflecting all the incoming damage, you don't even have to bother blocking.

For the axes, whoever has axe aggro can walk the axes to a point where you can hit it with your ranged taunt.

And on a tangential note, it's very useful to have one DPS taunt the Mage. Her Chain Lightning is directional, so if you have one DPS taunting her, everyone else can stack behind her and be immune to Chain Lightning. The taunter can rotate her around as needed (and everyone rotate along so that they remain behind the boss). It makes the fight much easier on the healers, and the ranged DPS don't have to worry about constantly repositioning for the corruption circles. I did this strat recently with a group that was not familiar with it, and with me as the taunter on my CP340 alt account (although I have been in a number of runs that used this strat, it was my first time being the taunter), and we 1-shot it--so it's an easy strat to learn and pick up on the fly. (Also, the Mage doesn't hit that hard. I was in my light armor DPS gear, with destro staves on both bars and doing DPS as usual. Only difference was swapping to my back bar to recast the Undaunted taunt now and then. At first, I was harnessing out of an abundance of caution, but then I quickly realized that it wasn't needed most of the time; despite being on a low-CP alt account with lower mitigation, I was in no danger of dying at any point.)

Having a huge hitbox means that even the tank can stand back a ways. If you stand back out of the group's AOEs, you will still be able to do your tanking, but also be able to stand in a clear spot so you can see the red mines.

Agree, there's a lot of situations when you cannot or it's extremely hard to see red circles on the ground, not only in trials but in dungeons, etc.
