I've got lots of gold to drop on housing. However, housing is also one thing I'd be happy to spend crowns on. Apart from a pet and a mount, and gifting DLC packs to friends (was very happy to get that offer!), I don't have much of interest to do with all the crowns that pile up from continuously subscribing. So from my perspective, having housing also being a possible crown sink would be nice.

what do you mean by that? How is it gold for crowns if you just buy a house or furniture? I am assuming it is account bound so it is just for your particular account or character. And no advantage in game... This seems like the best thing they could monetize without impacting game play.

Agreed, I've got lots of crowns saved waiting for something to spend it on. housing would be a good use for it.

If they do end up offering plots of land for Crowns, I am highly likely to get in on that. I'd like to buy some with in-game gold, but I'm totally fine, and actually kind of hoping, that we have the option for either.

You all do realize they've clearly stated housing is in game gold so if they then go and add access to the crown store.....yeah you're asking for crowns to replace gold.

Furniture is crafting so...yeah pay2progress or skip crafting not like motifs.

They haven't said it's exclusive to ingame gold though. I'm hoping the houing instance will be a community like in Lotro rather than a solo house instance. It would be nice to have neighbours and perhaps even famous neighbours at that.

Not me. The proper place for Crowns in housing is customization, not the house itself or land it sits on.

But you aren't affecting anyone else because you can't sell that furniture unlike the furniture you craft. I see no issue with selling furniture in the crown store unless it is furniture that cannot be crafted.

And it was already announced a type of house will be available in small, medium and large for every race. These will be for in-game gold.

Crown store houses will be separate. (Most likely the giant castle is one)

Housing is a fluff item, so it makes sense to use Crowns to buy them. Gold is for buying power items (gear etc), it seems weird to use gold to buy a fluff item.

If it's also available for in-game gold, though, then I don't really see what the problem would be. It's not gambling, it's not interfering with the in-game economy, it's just another way to purchase something. On the other hand, customizing your house (I assume you mean with furniture) does hurt the in-game economy, as they've already stated that crafters will be able to craft furniture to use or sell. I'd honestly still be at least somewhat OK with that, since the majority of folks would probably rather trade their in-game gold for furniture, but it does go against one of the two main tenets of Crown Store community acceptability guidelines.

I was under the impression there were going to be 3 ways to aquire a home

1 home available for unlocking in game via a quest
homes available for in game gold purchase
homes available on crown store

cant remember where i read this (somewhere on these forums)

If homes are available in these ways - it seems to me that all bases are covered, and everyone should be happy!

I spent a ton of RL money in EQ2 decorating my house but I actually did spend quite alot of time in it considering it had storage and all crafting tables and what not. But I honestly dont see ESO housing to be near that complex. It might have crafting tables but I can almost guarantee they are gonna be a crown purchase to get em into your house. Its all good though I hope it turns out to be something really good for alot of people waiting for it. Me sadly im playing less and less every week that goes by its just getting to the point of nothing really new to do that hasnt already been done 1000x over.

5M gold for the large size, with dps test dummies, and the ability to have friends and guildies over to test with me as well as some storage and some item display.

Without the dummies..... Not bloody much.

Crowns... I don't have many of those and I would really rather spend the gold for the economic success in game prestige than crowns for the obvious buy in. I hope the houses do not overlap between the two.

Additionally, would be nice to have the ability to chose a zone chat to view in house so that I can set if for grahatwood for pledges or rawl for shopping while I am testing, etc, at home.
