You say there is a lot of info but frankly a lot of it is outdated. I'm lucky since my main is a sorc, and the build I have still dishes out damage like crazy with a few tweaks, and it relies on a few simple stats. Plus, most build guides out there operate on the assumption you're already maxed out and have access to endgame gear, which I still don't honestly.

And my experience with terribad players is less players not filling their roles and more just not listening. Tanks rush in and don't use aggro abilities, healers panic or switch to dps mid fight, and DPS just ignore all the signs for blocking/dodging, taking damage even the tank tries to avoid...

My tip for a good DPS? Focus on a few stats and grow the character around that. My sorcerer is all about doing spell damage, so my build is designed around having enough magicka to keep casting, and increase chances of spell criticals.

Oddly enough as a healer, I normally try to res. Or I am happy if the tank does it. In most content as long as i know where people are going to be i can make sure no one dies. Even more sonif it is a decent tank. So it is actually really really easy to keep the tank alive while he is. If a dps is doing it i have to watch the tank and the dps they might not be next to each other and no matter what i am going to keep the tank up. so if i have to choose to save one, i choose the tank and now 2 people are dead.

The only time it really bothers me is when we are failing mechanics because of dps. And we need people up pronto because the next dps check will kill some one else. so whoever is closest better be getting the dead up.

One of my hates is when I ( the healer ) gets left to do the ressing. I get dps' saying that it should be me because I'm NOT doing anything. And what do you know, most of the time (unless it's a really easy dungeon) the team dies...

Have you noticed that some things will allow you to animation-cancel the rezzing?

If there's lots of carp going on and I'm the only person that can get enough elbow room to stand someone up, I'll get in place, throw down a fresh retribution, aura regen, springs and shard and often will have the rezz at 25% or more before my character's animations catch up with the action. And the instant I see the body rise I toss a couple breaths of life, just to make sure the risen and others are topped up. With that, it's rare I lose anybody while I'm playing Frankenstein "It's Alive!".

I totally agree with the sentiment and the fact that DPS is more effective with a stationary target, however it's not correct that damage is not targeted in PVE, for example cone attacks can be avoided the same way in PVE as in PVP, the tactic of getting the enemy mob's back works equally well in PVE and is very useful in VMA for example, especially for close quarters players

    Loved this!

I have the opposite problem; one of my sorc's is a pet build and she does pretty decent damage - but in the middle of the fight I've been known to start spazzing the heals.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

I don't feel like reading the whole thread, but have those elitistshamers came around already?
Every now and then I get to see a fellow 561+ DPS spaming 1 skill, doing like 5-10k dps. When i try to put some sense in him\her - i get shamed for being an elitist.
    - Dear, would you be so kind to use some variety of skill to push your DPS a bit higher, cause it's pretty damn hard to kill everything solo
    - You ****** elitist ****** go ***** yourself, i play the way i want to play

And i start a vote poll to kick you, dear sir (or madam), the way i wanna start it, lol =)

I play on PS4, I've noticed that many players are only using Light Attack during the fight. Some do LAx3 then Executioner...
Two times in Elden Hollow 1 the final boss fight lasted 10+ minutes. Besides the other two times I had to close the game because it was dragging for so long.

I don't know if they were trolling or just bad players. But it's been happening more often now after One Tamriel.

I play mostly DPS and I know that its better for me to rez than the tank or healer. I do alot of rezzing and I have stacks of extra soul gems that I dont sell because of that.

The problem for me is when, for some stupid reason, the boss wants to aggro on me (I do not use taunts on a DPS build) and ignore the boss for 2 minutes. Meanwhile the other DPS wont rez. Makes it kinda hard to for the tank to get back control of the boss and the healer to keep us alive while we do that if the the other DPS wont rez..

The problem is that getting high dps costs too many things that most people don't want to bother with. Specific gear. Very specific rotations. Very specific builds. And sometimes people have to grind like crazy to get some of that gear, things like proc sets that then get nerfed after all the PVP players *** about it. So players give up on that and decide to just play how they want, how it is fun, to not waste their gaming time in search of perfect sets that will be nerfed or grinding for pieces that are mostly training and prosperous. They give up on something that should not be rocket science and do what they want because 10k is pretty standard and 15k becomes more of a chore in a thing that is a GAME. They get the gaming part and see no real point in doing something that is not fun but more tedious because the system is rigged to encourage them to play endlessly in pursuit of some ideal they really don't give two *** about.

I've seen that happen in more people than I can count. I've seen good players with great dps quit the game because it bored them doing that high dps build without much freedom to play with other skills unless they wanted to sacrifice that dps. I've seen people say screw it to vet runs because they want to play differently but playing differently means rotation monotony. So they give up on keys, on vets, on grinding for specific gear that will be nerfed or possibly overshadowed by something new to grind. They give up on all of it and do what they want. Or they quit.

The problem is less the players and more the game design. If it's rocket science for a game, people will be disinclined to bother with it. It should not be rocket science. DPS skills should be very straight forward and create high dps. It should not require specific monotony to achieve it. It should not require tedium to get there or remain there. Not everyone wants to theorycraft for 20k damage. People have lives. People have commitments outside of the game. People have other things they prefer to do and prefer their games to be fun rather than a tedious neverending grind for some dps sweet spot. And frankly when I see this happen I laugh at how stupid this game is because they lose players, they lose money, they lose people who could have been those high dps people that you need in the vets and now so many people complain about vets that it's pure comedy. In trying to make people stay they drive them off. Most people do not like grinding. Most people with a lick of sense play games for FUN. The minute they realize it's not fun they move on. The day zos understands this novel idea to make their game more fun and less of a grind - and the day they actually fix it - they'll find themelves with lots more players and lots more revenue. And there won't be a need for threads like this because getting a good build with good dps will be par for the course rather than rocket science when people have no interest in becoming rocket scientists for a silly game.

I hardly ever had problems with PUGs. Non-dlc Vet shouldn`t be any problem at all. As a good tank I can revive and tank at the same time. There is absolutely no need for me to do more than 3k dps. Even if the heal is dead, I can stay alive long enough.

Why do people, instead of whining (and they know it will not help), not just go into some guilds and do pledges etc. with them.

PS: The worst part is, when randoms not know how to move. And die due to AoE etc.

A clear case of combat related PTSD. When he hears the boss casting he remembers the trebuchets that fired that day from the hill into Glademist :D

As a DPS I highly rely on a good Tank and especially a good healer and if they dont know how to be a healer or tank its the same way around like you hate low dmg DPS.

I res healer or tank cuz if they are dead I will probably die within the next 20secs, but if the healer og tank constantly dies I know they dont know their part..

But wanna know what in your opinion is a low dmg dps? I play on ps4 and can only see my dmg done after each hit.

As a NB stam I spam endless hail, caltrops and quickly cloak as AOE and Rending slashes with light attack in the meantime (cuz of low stam usage) and Rend as ult..

With Viper, Red mountain and Selene proccin constantly and I know im "only" 220cp but I think I do okay dmg in the end
