if you hate Maelstrom Arena so much that it makes you come here and desperately cry for a comment from ZoS that you know you'll never get... just stop going into vMA, it's that simple... The weapons in VMA are in some cases BiS and one cannot reach their dps potential without them. VMA is the purgatory of end game, you never really reach it until you get through purgatory. It doesn't matter how good you are in Purgatory it only matters that you get the right roll from a weighted set of dice.

It's not just VMA though, ZOS has shoved their RNG into everything you listed. I spent an entire weekend straight in COA on top of my prior farms and never got a usable spellweave; I got the same weighted loot drops as VMA. PvP is now mostly RNG from proc sets, and Fishing is literally RNG. So yeah tell me about how much "fun" there is in end game.

I'm going to ask ZOS to comment because it's causing people to leave the game, in many cases entire guilds. I have played since beta and I'd prefer that the game not die. I am not going to fanboi and defend their dishonest RNG system while the game burns around them. If you check the forums and in game people are enraged over it and at their breaking point. Being a fanboi won't save the game, calling them to act responsibly and fix the problems with the game might.

This is the vocabulary for a WWIII Zombie Apocalypse, not for a MMORPG Instance. If you're feeling that bad about Maelstrom Arena, I strongly suggest that you give up on it right now before you go all Ronnie DeFeo style and murder everyone, blaming satan ZOS for it.

It DOES matter how good you are in vMA, since the faster you complete and the less you die, the less of a burden it becomes. Besides, being able to complete it in less than 1 hour increases your chances to get what you want, in comparison to someone who needs 3 hours to finish it.
If I wanted to be an ass, I'd say that if you're claiming that it doesn't matter how good you are, it's because you are actually not good yourself, thus you have no clue of what you're talking about. Thanksfully I'm a nice person so I won't say it (oops... wait... I just did, didn't I... ?)

My understanding is that you deeply hate RNG, and that you'd prefer to simply have everything handed over nicely on a silver plate. If you consider that this RNG is a plague that has contaminated ALL of TESO... just tell me.... why are you still here ? If you simply wish TESO was another game, maybe it's time to actually go on another game.
You see, the thing is there are actually many people who actually like things just like they are right now. Just because they aren't as laudatory as their whinning counterparts are enraged and noisy doesn't imply that they don't exist.

In the end, if vMA is such a burden to you, maybe you don't want to "reach you dps potential" that badly ? Maybe you should also rethink the importance of have a bigger D***ps than everyone else and what you are actually willing to do to achieve that ? Maybe you could also try to find a valid alternative instead of blindlessly following the BiS speech (here's a hint though : you'll never get rid of RNG) ?

It factually doesn't matter how good you are. Time has no impact on the chest RNG.

Your understanding is limited. I don't hate RNG, I hate unmitigated RNG and weighted RNG because it logically includes statistical misery. Some players have done this 1 thousand times without getting what they want. It is a lazy system from the stone age of gaming. Most games have developed past it except this one and a few fanbois out there.

It doesn't matter what you think as a fanboi, the fact is i'm not alone and there is a large portion of the playerbase that feels the same way and that is both manifestly clear on the forums and in game and in guild. Supporting a game isn't being a fanboi and defending everything they do. If you want to support a game defend them when they are right and tell them when they are wrong.

Time has no impact on the chest RNG.

It has an impact on how many chest you can/will open per day. Example : You play 3 hours : You suck and you do vMA in 3h, you can open 1 chest. You play 3 hours : you do vMA in 1h, you can open 3 chests in the same period of time. 3x more chances/opportunities to get your loot. Is it clear enough ?

Clearly the best example that proove that the supposed "BiS" gear isn't needed to be good. EDIT for more comprehension : So you clearly have the choice of not doing it if you trully HATE it. This was just an observation.

This should be posted outside of vMA.... as a warning for all as to how crappy the drops are going to be for you.

you have literally a DOZEN or more posts up about these terrible drops... and its not like this is the first time either. i've watched these posts come and go since orsinium came out. obviously, something isn't working.

And those of you who say... "well it keeps you sticking around and maybe you'll buy something"... nope, its having the opposite effect. I come on to run vMA a couple times and log off. I buy nothing and i even consider unsubbing and leaving eso. Yes, because of drop rates. It's literally like working for nothing.

Time has no causal impact on the RNG. Your belief that doing it at a faster rate will give you a better chance is an illusion. As evidenced by the person with the best time who still doesn't have his weapon because time has no causal impact on RNG. As well as the people who have reported doing it 1thousand times and not getting their weapon which shows that doing it many times has not causal impact on RNG.

Sadly not the majority of the playerbase is on the forum, and not the majority of the people that is on this forum have voted in these polls (and maybe not the majority of the playerbase can do vMA neither). So how can we claim "large portion of the playerbase" feel the same way as you do ? That intrigates me, really. EDIT for comprehension : I said Large not Largest too, I do know the difference between those two words. We don't know if it's 1% of the playerbase (which isn't "large portion of playerbase") or 10% or even more. We don't know so we can't claim such things.

Time has no impact on what's in the chest, but on the rate at wich you can open chests, which is what really matters in the end. But you'd have to pull your head out of where-it-should-not-be to understand that.

You said it has an impact on how many chests you can open a day, which has no impact on the RNG of getting the weapon. Your comment had no purpose if not to reference the potential to get a weapon. You can open it all day everyday and the RNG will still be the same. The chance of you getting the weapon you want will be highly unlikely no matter how many times or at what rate you open the chest.

It is the only reference and probe we have. I didn't say it was the largest portion I said it was a large portion. You don't need a ratio to call something large. 1/8th of a planet is still large, you don't need to discover the rest of it to tell that it's large, just look at it.

According to the data available the majority of the playerbase can't do VMA but many won't because there is no purpose in doing it for them due to the RNG. I can do it, but I will not waste anymore time on it because the RNG is designed heavily to make success unlikely.

I went from recieving decisive restos like 4 times in a row to nirnhoned bows 5 times in a row.....

I did two runs yesterday. First chest was 2 bows. powered...and...sharpened! (finally)

2nd run got an infused ice staff (first ice staff) and another resto...don't remember the trait. the other day I got 2 resto staves in the chest (sharpened and defending).

resto staves and bows are the ones i've been getting the most, followed by a few S&B.
