So do you create your builds by yourself or watch them from somewhere else?

I like to create builds by myself

I get some tips on possible sets or something but I generally have been building my own setups. Though I know it isn't optimal but it works for me haha.

Let me explain. I like to try and create builds myself. I need advice at times with my builds because I mess up a lot. I've always hated myself for the fact that I don't have a clear understanding of mechanics in dungeons. As a result I find myself having to respec constantly (attributes and skills) My current character is mainly PvP now. I'm going to try to build my PvE character after One Tamriel hits.

I used to watch alot of build videos. But after 3K hours on my sorcerer and keeping myself very up to date on all of the new gear sets, I don't think I gain anything from build posts anymore. I can comfortably make my own

I decide on what I want to do and do it. I do some testing on the PTS sometimes, and I often ask my guild mates for tips if I am struggling.

Heavy mix. I'll take pointers from YouTube vids, Forums, Tamriel Foundry and sites like it, then tinker with it on the server until it "feels right".

I'm not ashamed as YouTube is a great starting tool when designing a build . I use the information as advice to save money and wasted time on setups that will just end up sub par and costly . Best to learn from others trials and errors then calling the crafter every week I say .

I create my build myself , 5 destruction mastery , 5 law of julianos , 1 maelstrom destro staff . you have more mana instead the 5% damage bonus of the current setup ( moondancer ect ... ) Same for skill .
But ... not for cp i'm not a theorycrafter like asayre .

While I do some research to avoid costly mistakes, I end up creating my own set up overall.

Well, this is usually what I do.

Then again I've still not done vCOS hardmode and no group I've had ever managed to do the hardmode anyway, so, I guess we all suck equally.

And dont worry, I wont do tauntless tank builds. I do blockless tank builds. HEALTANKS FTW.

I do check out published builds from time to time.

I never use video builds, though. They are too hard to reference in detail and are rarely presented well.

i'll take some tips from youtube but then alter everything to fit my playstyle usually... i had a magicka imperial templar ( recently deleted ) that i built from scratch with no tips or pointers that came out oddly VERY well though and was extremely fun building and figuring out

I do my own thing but change per encounter so in my opinion, if you have a build....and always play that way, you're messing up

You must have a lot of skill points . I'm still finishing the last zones and DB . Can't sacrifice the points into crafting save alchemy for the passives in combat .

And not to be critical of everyone but this one finds it amazing that all these independent people have relatively the same builds in PvP . What an amazing coincidence .

I kind of am in the middle. I like to see what everyone else is using and make adjustments or combine multiple builds together. I have a NightBlade that just has some of the most random stuff on it just because I think it's cool, but it is not very effective at all.

I definitely don't go jump on the bandwagon when the new builds blow up. I personally don't want to use exactly what everyone else does all the time.

I watch other people builds mainly to learn new things. Like currently I have watched quite a few different tank builds for when I change my DK to a tank, but when I do make him a tank it won't be a single person builds. I will use multiple different ideas to better suit how I like to play.

Probably an awful lot of the people voting that we like to create our own builds are primarily PVE players. I know I am.

Build plays hand n hand with Playstyle. When Playstyle changes, so does the build. Vice versa is also possible when new gear drops or abilities get swapped out.
