Ice Furnace: Does it still have Weapon damage?

I've been scouring the forums and I haven't seen a change to the 4th item trait: adds 129 Weapon damage. It adds Max Magicka, Spell Crit, weapon damage, and then utilizes two magicka-based elements for its 5th item bonus. Is this an overlook on ZoS's part... or is this working as intended?

Not an overlook, staff damage used to scale from weapon damage.

They just need to update it for the new game mechanics

Does it still not procc on frost damage over time?

The tooltip clearly states proccs on frost dmg which should include damage over time from wall of elements or destructive touch. It does not procc on those on live. It only works on direct frost damage.

They really need to update this set already.

Old mechanics are old and no longer hold any meaning, especially since they updated similar sets (Elegance) to buff the appropriate stat. Also, make this set proc on DoTs. Frost has the worst of it due to there being a complete lack of Frost damage in the game that isn't tied to a set bonus or Destro staff and half the Destro staff abilities are DoTs to you'd be shotting yourself in the foot even more just for wearing this set because you have maybe 2-3 attacks that can actually proc this.

I'm better off just using Winterborn as that is at least fully magic based and benefits from using Wall of elements

It´s the perfect showcase of ZOS neglecting magica specs and sets. 1 patch before introducing ice furnace as v160 they implemented viper - with updated stats. Together with ice furnace they implemented red mountain - with updated stats.

There have been reports about the bugs and shortcomings of ice furnace prior to live. Those got entirely ignored and the set is still bugged to this day.

ZOS way: Update stamina sets - magica can s*ck it. Get wrobeled.

It does still have weapon damage, and in every iteration of the PTS for Update 12, somebody has asked for it to be looked at. The change has not been implemented, and it will probably be overlooked.

More annoying is that when people bring up this question, it gets ignored with hundreds of other glaring issues that also get ignored.

@Wrobel This has been an issue for a long time (over a year), we have asked you to look at this set, and while you have said you would, we have not seen any changes. I was disappointed to see no changes in the PTS for the upcoming patch about this.

I'm wondering if they specifically saved this set for the warden class. Now that they're trying to encourage/push "hybrid" builds out there.

the problem with this is that they did not give the Warden any direct damage ice/frost attacks to even make this set proc

at best you could argue that the Crystalised Slab (morph of Crystalised Shield) has a "direct" frost damage, but that only happens when you absorb a projectile...all other damage skills are DoTs

so as much as we would like to create some sort of "Ice Mage/Warrior" type build it is just not going to work effectively

I think the only "direct damage" for frost is from the ice staff. However, I believe that the ice damage from Iceheart also procs Ice Furnace as well. So, you're looking at a damage dealing tank, I guess. Good for an off-tank in non-vet trials, maybe?

I use this on my dps sorc to tank with random groups. Works fine for most vet dungeons, especially when the dd'ers are the type who hardcast frags and spam light bow attacks.

But the set doesn't provide much dps, and the weapon damage bonus is silly. I know there are better sets for this purpose out there, but I'd like to use this one, preferably without feeling like an idiot. Please fix it.

They would have to increase the internal cooldown or decrease the damage if they allowed it to proc off of damage over time. I really like the concept of this set too and would like to see it made usable though.
