Give people a second chance it's not right.

People put in countless hours out of their lives into this game and got banned for something they were not aware of being an expIoit. wasn't banned personally but I know a few people that were and they were not even aware gap closing into a keep was exploiting they appealed the ban and you deny it?! But you give the people who use hard core cheat engines a second chance?! What sense does that make I hope the community keeps rioting about this you deserve more hate. #freeikonno

The only way PVPers wouldn't know that's an exploit is if they don't come to the forums or reddit, and don't ever talk to any other PVPers in game or pay any attention to zone chat in Cyrodiil. And the only way they'd be banned and an appeal denied is if they were using the exploit over and over.

There was no zone chat in cyrodil on console when people were getting banned

Except nobody reports you if you immediately dodge roll back without a fight. The people who were banned knowingly continued fighting so they were reported.

Let's be totally honest here. This is the kind of thing that might happen once or twice by mistake. But there is literally no way anyone can keep doing it and not know that it's super cheesy and dodgy. They found something that was clearly broken and gave them an unfair advantage, and they abused it. Now they're paying for it.

If you jump off the keep then you are not getting banned. No one is getting punished for gap closing, that is what I guess people don't understand.

They are getting banned for being inside of a keep and killing people after they have used said gap closer.

Um... No. People shouldn't exploit. There is no possible way people couldn't have thought what they were doing wasn't exploiting, if they may have heard rumors about it being an exploit. Or if it didn't sound right. There's a classic saying that, if you think something is wrong? Even in the slightest? Don't do it.

OK if that's the case 99% of Xbox na pvp community should be banned because literally everyone was doing it

Ah, I miss the days where gapclosing on walls and pulling people off walls with DK chains was a normal part of the game and made things much more immersive and fun. People actually had to think where they positioned themselves on the wall instead of going full brain-dead mode and snipe everything they see. If people wouldn't have made such a big issue out of it on a constant basis, gapclosers would still be actually functional and all this clusterfck would have been avoided, and would also make keep fights more engaging and tactical.

Sure, there will be those that will use it to ninja cap keeps but the rest of the game doesn't have to suffer because of a few bad apples.
Because of that, gapclosers were constantly tweaked and "fixed" to the point where they are broken beyond belief and are now having the same problem they tried to negate in the first place.
Forum whiners really do ruin the game sometimes...

^^^ An accidental gap close is fine if you run away after. Don't exploit kids.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.

Malicious intent.

There are countless players gap closing into keeps, and there are only a few bans. If someone was banned for gapclosing into a keep, it was because he used this method to grief other players.

They sure as hell knew what they were doing was wrong, take responsibility for once in your life.

ZOS made a mistake for giving CE users a second chance, and they surely regret doing so.
They won't be making the same mistake, believe me.

Don't know why they apparently don't officially do temp bans. Your first offense should be a relatively short temp ban. Repeated offense can them result in perma ban

(Unless they do, I typically only ever hear about people getting perma banned.)

I don't know. Dragon Leaping and Nightblading into keeps has been pretty common place for a long time. Basically it went from commonly accepted to bannable offense. Anyone that doesn't follow the forums, reddit, or zone chat might not be aware. Though I admit that you'd have to be a pretty oblivious person to not be aware.

Completely agree, if your weak enough to exploit something the first time, then its way easier to do it again and again.

Nobody gets permabanned for a mistake. They get perma banned for a pattern of behaviour that is trackable.

I think it was handled wrong.

I think the first time you got reported you should have been mailed a warning from ZOS saying it's an exploit, and only banned after subsequently using the exploit.

Maybe it could have displayed a warning to everyone who enters Cyrodiil:
"Using gap closers to enter enemy keeps is currently broken and using it is considered an exploit. If you are reported for using this tactic your account may be banned permanently."



On the other hand? Screw those keep-leapers.

Truth be told two developers, one still here one has left told me dragon leaping into keeps was not intended but was dynamic and inventive gameplay and had an inherent risk and reward in it. Now the new slogan is it's an exploit and we will ban total horse s.
