Maw of Lorkhaj weekly coffers not resetting?

My friends and I have run Maw of Lorkhaj on several characters since it started, but we have noticed that sometimes it goes more than a week without resetting. For example, one of my characters ran Maw on Monday the 8th, and got a coffer from the quest... but now, in spite of running it on Tuesday the 16th and again on Thursday the 18th (well after a whole week has passed) he has still not gotten another coffer from it. And on several other characters this has also been the case.

When are these trials supposed to reset? Is there a certain day and time? Or is there some invisible countdown timer on a character (and if so, MAKE IT VISIBLE SO WE KNOW WHEN TO RUN TRIALS AGAIN).

Coffer timers are character-specific and reset exactly 7 days after your previous completion of the quest on that character. Not 7 days after your previous coffer. (This may be a bug.)

This means that each time you turn in the quest and don't get a coffer, you've basically pushed back your next coffer by a week in return for a pittance of gold and XP.

This is what you should do:

• When you enter MoL, pick up the quest.
• At the end, talk to Adara'hai and look to see if a coffer is listed in the quest rewards in the quest turn-in confirmation dialog. If it is, complete the turn-in. If it isn't, cancel the turn-in and abandon the quest (if you don't abandon and clear MoL again, you still won't be offered a coffer even if you're off cooldown).

I have completed both Normal and Veteran Maw multiple times since the update and its been over 2 weeks and I have not gotten a single coffer on my character. Not one. And I have done both of the version of it well after a week since the update.

I played normal and have also not gotten a coffer. It has been well over two week since I have done weekly and still have not gotten one since update 11.

That is absolutely asinine and stupid. Can we please get some dev input on this? Is it supposed to be this way? We seriously need either a visible "loot timer" or a warning in the quest that the timer will be reset from turning it in. Absolutely ridiculous.

Thank you for telling us, code. We never would have figured it out if you hadn't said anything. Our one friend has been running with us every time and she has NEVER gotten another coffer after her first. Now we know why.

This is total BS the way this currently works.

Thanks for letting us know @code65536 we'd never have known otherwise and kept on shooting ourselves in the foot everytime we tried. The timer needs to be visible somewhere. Is there an addon? Or do we need to keep our own calendar? At least we have a workaround.

I keep a manual log of my turn-ins, but you could always use the easy (though uncoordinated) way of just going to the quest turn-in screen and seeing if a coffer is being offered, and then accepting or abandoning the turn-in. You'll miss out on the modest sum of gold and XP from abandoning turn-ins, but at least you'll never push off a coffer's reset this way.

I don't know whether this current behavior is intended or not, but if I had to venture a guess, I would say no and that this is a an unintended bug. If that's the case, I hope they'll fix it soon.

Thanks for the advice, and my data confirms this now that I think about it. I ran nMOL on all my LVL 50 toons the week of the patch. I kept a calendar of when I did it and got coffers for each. The second week I did the same thing and got coffers on every toon except my DKs. Well, the DKs have both cleared vet a few times along the way, which makes sense if this is in fact what is going on. I thought the bug had something to do with Vet mode, but this makes a lot more sense. Time to stop turning in quests I guess. Haha

Why is this an issue now? Coffers have worked like this since the release of Hel Ra and AA, which was way back in 2014.

Depends on what you mean by "issue".
Same as several people in the thread already mentioned - I didn't git a single coffer since dlc landed and nothing helped to fix. Contacted Support so they look into this but I doubt any fix soon.

I have the same problem, since several weeks no coffer on several of my characters.

After having it reported InGame - all I got was an automated e-mail reply about "all the things they cannot do to help me"... but that they forward this to their dev department O_o

Very unsatisfying and disappointing.

The quest itself should not reset the timer each time. The reward coffer itself should be the trigger for the timer.
I know other MMORPGs who have a Raid timer that tells you when one week has passed, down to the second.

So why not make the coffer the trigger for the timer instead of the finishing the quest
and
adding a reward timer so we know when we can go for the next coffer.

There seems to be generally a greater number of players now interested in doing trials which I believe is good for the game and for me too as I like to be involved in these large group activities.

The motivation for players may be for gear drops and motifs but there is also the sustained damage from mob and boss fights which does a good job of highlighting areas of your playstyle and/or character build that needs improving.

The topic of the Coffer timer is a real big negative issue that should be addressed. The 1 Coffer per character/week/trial is not being discussed so this is not the issue.

I keep a play notes spreadsheet on my second monitor which among other things lists my characters against the different trials and the day a Coffer was rewarded. This is not my preference but is the only way I see of keeping track with the current Coffer timing system.

The Coffer reward timer could so easily be simplified and remove the doubt from players. Just replace the timer code with a weekly flag that is set on Coffer reward pickup. This flag could then be reset each week at a known date/time such as the reset point for Trials leaderboards.

In update 12 there is the introduction of 3 new Motif sets for the Thief, Shadow, Warrior.

With these new Motifs it seems that ZOS are also interested in more players doing Trials.

So please ZOS, consider reworking the Coffer timing mechanism.

After 4 or 5 weeks, finally received coffer from the cat
Down side, after cancellation, you have to wait a week for reset.
