Town PvP is Dying

It was inevitable, at least on NA PC it was. It's not competely lifeless but there isn't an incentive for people to be there aside from a port and unique PvP gear. IC isn't perfect either but at least theres a 33% telvar buff.
However, what if it somehow negativley impacted an alliance if their home town was taken. For instance, if Bruma was taken by EP, since it's a DC home town (correct me if i'm wrong) it would reduce DC's AP gains by 5% to 10% resulting in constant action there. I realize this system is flawed, the other two towns are closer near AD which ends up favoring them and that towns are also super easy to flip. It's just a possible solution. What do you guys think?

Interesting idea. It would help factions defend it if they actually got some kind of a debuff when losing it. Otherwise, is it really that much of a benefit to rez there instead of Brindle or another keep close by it... not that much.

Town PvP is definitely dying, especially with the zerging, and one incentive several people mentioned before was making Towns count toward Emperorship (1 town + your home keeps)

A town should generate points for the faction on the scoreboard just like any objective. This was a huge mistake by Zenimax to not implement it. They haven't done it in IC because IC is a DLC and they didn't want to force people to buy the DLC to be able to compete 100% on the scoreboard, but with the towns being in Cyrodiil, there was no excuse to not implement a point scoring system.

Very disappointing, to say the least.

Isn't the port really worth it?

ZOS made town PvP to make the game feel more fluid and real, whether that happened or not is debatable, but it seems the port was an added bonus they threw in that gives an edge for the more isolated keeps.

    Vlastarus for Brindle

    Bruma for Dragon Claw

    Cropsford for Drakelowe.

Having the town makes the fight go a little easier - when it's an even fight
    .
It cuts the distance in half from the outposts.

Plus you get the random group questing across the map and "Hey, let's take the town while we're here."

Invites more small fights instead of zergs.

Have the merchants sell a consumable that everybody will want, this will keep people flipping towns for the merchants

Whatever you do, keep Cyrodiil towns as a place for small-scale stuff, not another place for zergs to storm through. Making towns required for emperorship would invite zergs, for example

Agree here. At the very least it should generate points for your factions leaderboard. It is cool that they are giving us more stuff to capture, but honestly, after capturing one town I was over it. There is just no incentive to do it.

I really wish they'd chosen Cheydinhal instead of Cropsford and Chorrol instead of Bruma. Make them worth 2 points in faction, 1 point out like everything else. Then you'd see constant fighting over them.

Instead they're just used as respawns to keep throwing zergs at the Outpost keeps endlessly.

    Yaaaaaaaaaay.

At least the fighting has been much better at the Outpost keeps themselves, with reasons to show up and more of an early warning (the town flips) when it should be checked and defended. I have had some great fights at Drake the last week or so.

No surprised IC died off in less than month, the cities are fun and they at least give a tick, but they still need to be incorporated into the point system, I agree since it was an add on of the base game and not a dlc feature I guess they did not want to spend much time on it.

Zenimax seems to have an issue with incentivizing content. I was really shocked when Imperial City district capture was brought on board, but not a single achievement was added, not even for capturing a district flag. Why not add achievements and a meta achievement with a nice reward? For example:

    Bruma

    1. Kill 500 players within the vicinity of Bruma
    2. Deal 50 million points of damage/healing to players in Bruma
    3. Be within the vicinity of Bruma when its captured 100 times.
    4. Successfully defend Bruma 10 times when two flags are flipped to an opposing faction.
    5. Complete 100 daily quests in Bruma

Meta: Upon completion of the above achievements you are awarded a Sturdy Nord Frostmane horse that has an extra 10 stamina.

Add another Meta like the above to Cropsford that gives you a mount with 10 more carry capacity and Vlastarus that gives 10 more speed.

Add a 5th bounty board with a daily quest sending you to each town each day.

Trust me, you'd have no issues with PvP in those towns if some kind of incentive is added.

I think you're right that towns are really just for a port, and thus the action there is lackluster. The other real problem is that when there ARE people at these towns, it's very often 1-2 people on one faction getting zerged down mega-hard by some group who thinks they need 15 people to take a town...

Also, on the flip side of the two towns being closer to AD favoring AD, I think it's worth noting that this means that the two towns are putting AD at different disadvantages (two free ports much closer to AD home keeps which means EP/DC get more closer spawn points).

Honestly just remove it capture towns was a stupid idea to begin with.

If ZoS really wanted to give more to PvP make bridges and mile gates capturable and siegeable. Seriously that's where all the fights happen plus that un-like towns would provide a much better strategic advantage.

Oh EP needs to slow down AD assault on sejanus ? Take the Alessian bridge. DC advancing on Roebeck ? AD takes Nikle milegate and so on.

Very disappointing, to say the least.

This would be a valid excuse only if one faction has notably more or fewer people who purchased the DLC, as that would imbalance the campaign. We don't have that data, but I doubt that is the case. I'd wager it's just another example of ZOS pandering to crybabies.

Not having IC objectives count toward the campaign is ludicrous and keeps it from being a competitive PvP zone. The place is either dead or zerged down by one faction at a time lately because players have no incentive to stick around and fight there over elsewhere.

Someone is inevitably thinking "But we'd exclude playerz from participating!"

No, stfu. Exclusivity is the point of a DLC. Individual players being able to impact the campaign via IC isn't the problem. It's relative impact of a DLC player to a non-DLC player. Non-DLC players have plenty of space to play in Cyrodiil, and as long as proportions of players in each faction with and without the DLC are equal, all players and factions will have the same relative impact on the campaign regardless of DLC access. Math is hard, apparently.

They didn't give the towns much of a bonus. I have said since original launch that towns should mean something and they finally make them able to be captured but like SRIBES said... obviously flawed.

They should tie keeps to each town and make those keeps have more guards, special guards as well like ones that have nightblade like guards, DK guards that use standard. Maybe each alliance has special guards activated like AD has Dreadguards, DC has Battlemages and EP has tanks or something... just spit balling.

However Pox is also right... PvP itself is kind of dying. When the lowbie campaign is more fun than the vets, and is more competitive... that isn't good.
