Why are people rude to healers?

Players should be able to self sustain for more than long enough for a healer to get to them if the situation is bad.

Repentance is great but it took me practice to remember to use it! It sucks though during a boss fight with no adds. Do you all swap it out or what?

I've found in MMO's the best players are often the Healer and the Tank, and when the *** hits the fan everyone complains about the healer, the tank, or both whether or not they knew not to stand in stupid or face tank the boss. Its just human nature, people don't want to take responsibility for their own mistakes often times. Really good players don't tend to act the way you're talking though OP. The good DPS players are smart enough to know what is going on, they know how to stick and move, and they understand what you are doing. One thing though, if someone is giving advice you should always listen to what they're saying and consider it. I've learned things from people who know a lot less about a game than myself, so its always worth listening. Be teachable. By the same token some people lord their knowledge over others with a very condescending attitude, and I'd just say try not to act that way either if you're helping someone out. It makes people angry.

1st time you die: "Dangit! I'm so sorry!"

2nd time you die: "It must be the mechanics..."

3rd time you die: silently judging you.

from my experience, playing all 4 classes and all 3 roles, when players die kit is usually their own damn fault. Everyone needs to know their role when doing group content. This means not only doing damage or tanking, but also how to not take damage themselves. Sometimes, this is as easy as getting out of that red circle at your feet. Most of the time it means being able to block/dodge-roll/self-heal/shield or throw up some other form of mitigation. Yes, every player needs to have some from of self-heal on their bar, you can not expect the healer to save your ass every time you do something stupid. as a Templar healer I can take you from 1% health to full health in 1 shot, but I can not be doing that non-stop or I quickly run out of magicka.

Another thing dps need to look at before they scream at the healer for not keeping them alive is why are the enemy NPC's still alive. If they are doing their job properly, not only should they be avoiding damage, but the enemy should be going down pretty quickly. I have done dungeon runs w/o a healer, all dps, and nobody died. Why? Because we killed everything so fast they did not have time to kill us.

I leave it on, lots of regen for yourself too.

I keep it on my heal bar even for a boss fight for the 10% regen bonus. But,.. my second bar is more tailored for boss fights so I tend to stay there more often anyway during boss time.

There are some pseudo-adds that you can use Repentance on if you're fast enough. For example, the Dwarven Sphere can be Repentanced. Also, Lord Warden Dusk's shades. You have to be quick with them, but you can get stamina+HP back from them. And, also, as said, you get a lot of regen with the passives.

Why are people always rude? We can not heal 24/7. We have cooldowns. Also, if you run all the way across the map, we can't use all of our skills. Also, try to keep enemies off of us.

You don't die because your healer is not good usually you die because you suck.

Basically they blame you because they don't want to accept that they suck, I mainly run DPS btw.

My only complaint is that healers don't realize that you don't always have to keep me as my Tanks topped up on health, I have self healing/Shields and, especially on my DK who runs Whitestrake's and has Dragon Blood and Ferocious Leap, I can afford to let my health go down without it being a problem for the vast majority of fights.

I get flack sometimes from people who say I was playing badly just because they refused to let my health go down below 75%, how is it my fault for acting like nothing can hurt me when the healer is making me invincible? Stop healing me and see what happens, as some groups did and saw me take out an entire pack of enemies by myself with Brawler and barely even need to heal myself (sometimes not at all).

Not all players or their builds call for the same need for a healer, and before saying a Tank sucks try seeing what happens when you heal as much as you would consider is normal for whatever fight you're doing, if you still think a Tank sucks then so be it, but otherwise I think many such criticisms I and I imagine many other Tanks have gotten from healers has been uncalled for.

    Here's a couple of experiences I had with pug healers (note: I don't think all healers act this way);

    Healers do everything better
Three of us wanted to do the pledges. The normal was pretty simple, ran through it without an issue so I can't even remember which one it was. We then went to the vet dungeon. Elden Hollow. Now this healer (VR14 magplar), the whole time was YOLOing through the whole dungeon. Not waiting for us, not doing her role (you know, healing) unless it suited her. When we got to Bogdan, that's when it REALLY hit the fan, because the same things ensued. After several wipes and my boldly telling her that she's a healer and to let the tank do HIS role, she blames the group. Granted a lot of us were still lower than VR 10 at the time, but Leeroying 100% of the time isn't healing. So I booted her. I know I was inexperienced then, but I also know that a healer shouldn't run in guns blazing in a vet dungeon regardless of the scale. At least back then. Pre-IC. Still, we were dodging the AoEs, keeping pressure on Bogdan, and then the healer was a complete snob. We got an appropriate healer after that and finished the dungeon just fine. Even with two vampires.

    The Titanic
This was when I was in a rather small PvE guild. I still had friends in there, though. Also this one is going to be a bit longer than the other. We set up a group to run a dungeon for a helm run (vWGT). At this stage I didn't really have to worry about my regen because I was self-reliant as well as heal those near me (Funnel Health). Though we all agreed that it SHOULD have gone faster with a healer (mageplar). We grabbed one (though he was relatively new to the guild) and we started running the dungeon. All of us have done this dungeon enough times to know the mechanics and we knew what to expect. After we said we knew the mechanics, this templar kept stopping the group after every group mob (EVERY group mob) talking about the next boss mechanics. We had already established we knew it. He persisted however.

We get to the first boss (I don't count the angry giant baby lurking outside the tower). The healer was first to get jailed. He died after spamming heals to heal himself and was angry that he couldn't get out. What was that about mechanics? We still killed the boss without him. He then started to bicker that he 'told' us what to do and we didn't do it. Yet it was his fault for not opening the door to get out of that fire. He stopped quipping for a while. The other three bosses after that went down without a problem. Then we got to the Planar Inhibitor. Everything goes fine until the templar gets portal duty. Instead of using Dark Flare, they run over spamming light attacks with a RESTO STAFF. I chalked it up to them being stuck on the wrong bar. When it came to the second portal (by this time we had quite a few enemies running everywhere), he was still spamming.

We wiped and told him to use Dark Flare on them instead. He then said "I'm the healer, I don't do portal duty." We asked how many times he's ran vWGT and he just linked the achievement. I sighed and told the tank in whispers to just let him have the first pinion. That was the next mistake. Before he hit the pinion, he threw down wards and ground heals right there beside it and then grabbed the pinion. Instead of doing what any sane and rational player would do when they go against the Planar Inhibitor, which would be slowly moving it around, he simply STANDS there aside from spamming his heals. We seen this guy tap out of Magicka, and then just die. So we try to do it without him. We leave him dead, take turns on the pinion and kill the Planar. "WHY DIDN'T YOU RES ME?!!1!1!oneone!1" I simply told them that the boss was down and it didn't matter.

We proceeded to Kena. He makes us stop and instead of running it like a normal helm run, he insists on using the book. "It increases the odds for a helmet." At this point I'm cringing. That's like holding the pinions until all the enemies stop spawning at a dolmen for a General. Whatever. We let him do it. He puts his stuff back down on the ground. We get to the first wave of the twisting lightning AoE and atros start to spawn. He got mad that we didn't ignore it. He literally stops and wipes just to tell us that. At this point, we really didn't need him and the three of us got Kena down. Making a longer story shorter, the guy was booted from the group, he didn't get a chance at the helmet, and later ragequitted the guild for his own stupidity. He touted from the start about mechanics and he was the one that was failing at grasping them.

In closing, I don't agree with being rude to any player in any role. However I also think that people who act like these people (in any role) tend to join more groups/guilds and makes it seem like they're more common than the good players. I've met good tanks, I've met bad tanks. Same with DPS and DDs. It's by no means subjective to one role and rather a universal problem. Those that are blaming others who are in fact pulling their weight (possibly more) either ARE bad pugs themselves, or they're very jaded at past experiences with a certain role and will instantly blame them regardless of what happened. Arrogance and ignorance is the problem with most of these bad situations on both sides of the fence. So instead of dealing with that, I just run with friends or people in my larger PvE guild that I've ran with before. I get no nonsense from that other than what I create myself, which I own up to.
