Why are people rude to healers?

Ohh I'm done here. =D but for the record, this is a thread about healing in general. Competitive group content consists of maybe 5 percent of healers.

Did you hear that all healers? If you don't throw shards when the dps cried for it, you're terrible at your job and shouldn't be a healer. Pfft.

    I'm done. For real.

You need experience and skill to become a good healer or tank. DPS its the easy role to play

I don't think we are being unreasonable. Do you think it is a surprise that the only class with a dedicated healing tree also has two great skills to restore stamina? Is it a surprise that the enchantment on a master resto staff restores stamina? The skills exsist for a reason an the healer is the best choice for running these skills. In my opinion if you aren't helping to raise group dps, then you really aren't maximizing you role.

The current Meta for gear is 5 pieces of spell power cure (group damage buff) that is paired with either Worm (magic cost reduction), Gossamer (group dodge chance) or Infallible Aether (Enemy Debuff). If you dont have this gear, the best thing you can do is start with a set of Kags and pair it with gear to boost your spell power and help manage your own personal magic. Anyone serious about healing should make it their mission to get SPC. It is not that hard now that we can trade gear in dungeons

Healers are about utility, so you generally want 5 piece bonus the benefit your group in some way. If you can get two, all the better. In our Raid, both healers run SPC and one of each of Gossamer and worm. In our guild, a 5 piece of SPC is required for any healer that wants "adept" status.

to answer the main question: because they usually are tunnel vision players. They often only care about getting the max dps out of a fight. They will make sure every single stats, enchants and CPs they have are stuff to increase their overall damage. They will just focus on their target, ignoring what's around them and rarely use any kind of self protection/healing aids.

I had a group like that a little while ago , forgot what dungeon (mostly because I rarely do them anymore) but it was a simple "burn boss and ignore everything" phase, after 3 wipes, tank and a dps leave, another dps yells at me saying "you need to heal more" (while I was healing non-stop and most of them were getting 1 shot) and "you need 501cp for this!" (I'm at around 330).

I redid the SAME instance using the SAME strategy 15 minutes later with people will less health, less gear and less CP than me. We killed that boss in one pass without any issues.

I wonder who was the problem, the healing or those people who always count on the healers to always keep them full hp so they don't have to bother about it.

because they're useless and die all the time.

seriously, outside of trials theres nothing a healer can do that beats a well timed doderoll and ocassional vigor.

What does that even mean? Sure that works if you want to run 4 stam DPS through wayrest sewers, but the vast majority of content goes much faster with 2 DPS and a healer doing their job than 3-4 DPS fending for themselves. You are saying that wearing Spell power cure doesnt benefit 4 man content? How about casting repentance between trash pulls or giving shards to your tank? What about ele drain in heavy trash like ICP or the new content? Helping with magic and debuffing enemies is worthless? I am sorry, but that is wildly incorrect.

My healer is awesome. However, he has limits... If anyone is rude to my Healer I won't heal them :p

Typically because they don't understand how the concept of healing works in most games.

I'm lucky. I began my healing with an established trials guild, earned my way up as a respected healer, and have never had to pug heal. So I've never experienced the hate in this game. Now League... *shudders*

As of yet my Healer has not ran in any groups. I've taken him on Pledge runs with a friend and healed randoms at dolmens and world bosses. His healing capability is superb and better focused on 1, 2 people tops. Healing a group of a few to several on his own may be a bit more taxing due to how the game treats things like Regen but he has other heals to deal with that stuff. He's no Templar, but he gets the job done nonetheless. That said, I have also never received said hate lol

As a Damage Dealer, I love a good healer (and tank)! I think the real problem is toxic players and unfortunately they are in every game. Once identified they are best avoided.

Sorry but people are never rude to me while healing. I just started playing a healer in ESO a couple weeks ago and have not had any problems so far. On the contrary most of the time when someone dies they almost always say it was their fault from either being too far away or being 1 shot by either a dungeon mechanic or enemies/bosses. Those really are the only reason someone should die with a competent healer.

yeah i don't understand people being mean to healers. They have a ton of responsibility, I'd even go as far as to say they most responsibility in a group. They keep the team alive, and keep them from wiping over and over again. I always do my best to avoid reds and stay in the healing radius as to not burden them further. They are after all responsible for 3 other people.

This is my personal list of priorities and duties of a healer. (provided the group is at least decent, if they seriously lack DPS then it's a different story.)

    1: HEAL
    - First and foremost HEAL. Keep those health bars full. If you're inexperienced or new just focus on the health bars.

2: Provide resources for your group/Buff the group
    - When I enter a vet dungeon i ask what build people are, stamina or magicka. That way i know what I have to do. I have repentance and shards to fill stamina players and my worm gear (5%cost reduction to whole group) and spirit siphon to support magicka players.

    3: DPS
When the above is set, contribute to DPS.

As a healer, you know what it means when the uber DPS pug group leader says "we don't need a tank for this" means I will probably die a lot and be tanking and healing while you glass cannons try to break your person best single target dps on one mob at a time..........

    2: Buff the group

Eventually I want my healer to have Spell Power Cure set. That along with Combat Prayer is how my healer buffs allies. Beyond that it's pure healing focus, and I use Structured Entropy to get Major Sorcery and a small boost to my own Health :)

How about casting repentance between trash pulls or giving shards to your tank?

I feel like most people use repentance wrong. Use it throughout trash mob fights. Gives back stamina to everyone who may need it, but also free heals. It also costs nothing. Using it after a fight is over isn't nearly as useful.

Why are people always rude? We can not heal 24/7. We have cooldowns. Also, if you run all the way across the map, we can't use all of our skills. Also, try to keep enemies off of us.

Someone yell at me at Vet dungeon, since that I am no longer a healer..

Hit the nail on the head here... use it every 2-4 bodies DURING the fight,.. totally useless is you use it after.
