Bonus points if the new motif hasn't actually been released yet, and still only exists as a drop set. With the actual pages slated for release a couple months from now.
Triple bonus points if it's a costume they want crafted!
*Head desks*
I've had people ask about the Nord Hero costume I wear, but I've never had someone assume it was craftable.
Not sure why Crafters would want tips. I'd assume those of you who are master crafters with everything researched to be quite wealthy players as well. What's 1k - 2k gold to you when you already have 100k+?
As long as Materials and civility are provided to the Crafter it doesn't feel like Gold needs to be involved.

I always charge for crafting, I am not going to spend 20 to 30 mins of my time for free to craft something for you when I could be spending my time elsewhere.
Not to mention the time spent deciphering requests such as these!
and this was after I asked for detailed instructions.... *sigh*
Clearly this is someone who wanted a mix of vet 1 and Vet 5 pieces of Death's Wind in Argonian. Probably in white.

1) Please ask us questions about the amount of materials needed. It's frustrating going all the way out to a crafting station to learn they expected you to use your own materials and they pay you for them and you don't have enough on hand so you have to do their shopping for them and go back to the station. If you don't have time to buy your own materials, why would we?
2) Don't leave out important details in your armor order. If we don't know the style, armor weight, or trait, we can't make it.
3) Please don't be demanding. A little politeness goes a long way. Be respectful, we are doing you a favor, we are not obligated to help you.
4) Appreciate the little things we don't charge for. I personally never charge for essence runes except Hajeiko. I never charge for green crafting mats. I often don't charge for style mats unless its a pricey material. At the end of the day we accept those losses, however small they are. Some charge for every thing needed, some don't. Ask your crafter what to include in your materials, if they don't make you pay for some things, thank them!!!
5) Please tip your crafter! If you don't have gold, ask your crafter what types of things they could use. I've often received tips that were materials, items I could sell, or just pure gold. Show your appreciation for their service even if you can't tip them more than 1-2K, a few kind words goes a long way.
Feel free to add to this list, fellow crafters
Just finished several sets for people; I wish this thread could be stickied.
At least the ones I did tonight had information that was more detailed than "Make it look kool."
On the other hand there's no reason to be such a cheapskate
I have over 1m, doesn't mean I'm interested in donating my time to strangers.
I consider it a favor to do it for 2k for a whole set. I mean you do realize a lot of crafters have spent several 100 k in motifs and learning traits, right? If you want it for free, have a guildmate do it for you or research the traits yourself. Not sure why Crafters would want tips. @ArchMikem We took the time to research all the traits and spent gold on learning all the styles so we could make anything we want as well as sell that service to others. Just because you provide all the mats doesn't mean it should be for free. If you want things made for free, then you put in the work, time and money as we have and do it yourself.
Just as we have the right to refuse service, you have every right to learn these things for yourself. There's a Crafting Station in the Imperial City? Damn, and here I was thanking the Hell out of my Guildmaster for making me only a few pieces of Julianos cause I didn't have enough traits for them myself. I'd never ask someone go that far out of their way like that.
And I mean I DO like to offer something for their time, I just think Payment shouldn't be required. It's a simple ask politely and either get a yes or no type deal. Even then I personally am striving to craft my own stuff as best I can.
@Danksta @Robbmrp
Since Robb decided to notify me on his "put me in my place" type of post, then the least I could do was notify you guys on the post I had made regarding this back on Page 2 that you seemingly missed. Don't misunderstand me.

Yeah, if someone gets on my nerves, and hasn't specified a style, they're getting Argonian.
If it's honestly someone who doesn't know the motifs, and is new to the game, I'll usually lean towards Ancient Elf.

"Then you probably also don't know what set/trait/style/pieces you want crafted either."
"I know all that."
"THEN, HOW TF DO YOU NOT KNOW WHAT MATERIALS YOU NEED?"

The two last randoms I've crafted for, I initially set out to charge them around 7k just for the time needed. However, they were obviously delighted at receiving the items and went beyond just typing something like "THX" and as such, I told them it was on the house. They did provide the mats and the Kutas for the glyphs, so I never really used anything of any great value from my own stock. I'm a sucker for manners and would rather make a small loss than charge someone who has obviously appreciated the time and effort I've put in.
The last message I received from one of the aforementioned randoms actually made me smile and the warm and fuzzy feeling you get from that is worth more than anything you can obtain in-game.
