VMA drop rant (another) - illogical trait

Firstly as a console player, let me say thank you ZOS for patch 1.15 it is glorious. i still would love to lose random load screens and invisible enemies in group dungeons. but that aside . good job. fixed some game breaking issues.
Now down to brass tax. vMSA weapons

B.I.S. : sharpened, precise,nirnhoned mostly in that order depending on content/CP allocation/weapon. (infused on some weapons can also be)
Ok/poor: defending, powered, infused
Bad: decisive, training(supposedly training is not in the loot tables?),
Rage inducingly bad: charged

who thought to put CHARGED, (+220% proc chance) ON A GUARANTEED PROC ENCHANT! my inferno-staff was a long time coming. i got one with the trait charged. I don't need the increased chance of a proc, because of the nature of the enchant, To complete the hardest solo content, work hard enough to get on the leader boards, run it enough times to get the weapon the player wants, and then to see that.... Its absolutely gutting.

What is the thought process here. "we wont be cruel enough to put training on vMA drops. but something that has even less benefit seems just dandy". Even running it on 1 maelstrom DW 1 hander would not excuse the inclusion of this trait. This trait is actually and quite literately of no benefit (AFAIK?) for all other weapons. please can we get it removed from the options?

(my only consolation was i did have a nirnhoned inferno staff recently, which i was incredibly greatful for it inspired me to do more maelstrom and play for longer, isnt this how you want your playerbase to feel? inspired and excited to play?)

    At this point I don't see a reason to not grant a weapon per final chest.

    Also a removal of charged and training traits entirely from the loots table would be a welcoming change too.

    Does Charged not increase the chance of proccing additional affects (ie Defile from Disease damage), this is what I was under the impression of it doing.

    I got a charged restoration staff. Can someone please tell me what status effect I have an increase of applying with a Restoration staff? Completely and utterly useless. I would have gotten more out of Prosperous on my restoration staff. Ugh...

    Prosperous and Training seems appear on gear around 75% of the time.

    Reinforced and Sturdy seems to be about 20%

    Infused and Divines seems to be about 5%

    In the trials vet mode drops a lot more divines and infused than normal mode imo. Normal Sanctum is full of trash traits.

    Makes sense looking at it from ZOS point of view, but sucks from ours.

    My friends are slowly leaving the game because of bad rng, (aswell as loading screen, lag, bugs etc...) I won't be far behind them if it carries on like this, up to about 60 sanctum runs now and no vicious serpent rings, tis extremely frustrating, give me one and it'll inspire me to carry on farming for the other, but nothing after hours and hours of farming is tedious and boring, I have better things to do with my time.

    More on topic, why they even bothered to alter the traits in maelstrom is beyond me, all everyone wants 99% of the time is sharpened or precise, what's the logic in adding more traits? To inspire people to carry on farming to get the desired trait? Or fu*k people off enough so they leave the game?

    I agree with the trial stuff.. I've run about 15 trials this weekend alone and have yet to get any skirmisher/elegant with good traits or vicious ophidian rings. Granted my other guildie got 2 rings in those same trials, so they do drop - the RNG is so lopsided for me that the trials almost get boring lol.

    Maw trial was fun af tho! Still didn't get anything good... maybe a couple infused/sturdy ebon pieces, but super fun! The boss mechanics in that trial are great.

    I feel for you @Jimmy I'm assuming its lack of foresight not just an intentional Cr*p trait left in. why take out training as an option and leave in something more useless half the time?

    when i made my post i believed charge didnt works like @KochDerDamonen mentions. but the status effect
    procs that charged refers to I assumed to only be enchant procs. (previously it was enchant charges)

    enchant / status effect
    fire glyph / burning
    frost glyph / chilled
    electric glyph / concussed
    disease glyph / diseased
    poison glyph / poisoned

    I thought for example inferno staff enchant with ice damage glyph....charged would affect the ice glyph chilled status effect proc chance i assume. no change in the chance to afflict burning inherent with using the inferno staff. That's covered by the passives of the weapon (eg. elemental force). this thought was incorrect.

    @hrothbern did some testing
    and apparently it has some very limited use for only certain weapons. though may not be working as intended

    maybe it increases the axe bleed proc chance too? as @speeez wondered?

    but it is a terrible trait in anycase. Very limited benefit, only a handful of the maelstrom weapons receive. The majority see no benefit from the trait, having no status effects the can possible cause. Charged should just be removed from malestrom weapon loot imo.

    just have to jump to the defence of infused.

    the enchantment on my infused CR140 purple master sword is greater than the enchantment of the (as yet unreleased on live servers) enchantment on a gold non infused sword

    so can you buff that up from OK/poor to OK/epic on tanking weapons ;)

    Seems to me then that Charged is disproportionately stronger for magicka specs than stamina, even if it does work for the Axe bleed affect. Though stam Dragonknights in particular might make use of it, I suppose.

    Not saying Charged is good, I would even go as far as to say that it is not good on physical weapons in general. However it certainly does not lack in applications, niche those may be. I do wonder what someone's uptime on say 'Burning' is like with a golden charged fire staff.

    charged is useless keep farming until real desired trait (sharpened, etc).

    Yup, same for me. *** up rng makes me feel like playing other games. Getting 0 reward of gaming for hours and hours isnt fun. Yes, the first 5 times it is, but without any loot its just a straight up endless grind.

    My last few 'rewards'- charged battleaxe, arcane ring of hunt, charged mace and some shield, healthy permafrost ring, robust succesion ring.
    Well worth the 6 odd hours, for decon fodder and vendor trash. Yay!

    Please bring back the old loot table, Precise, Sharpened, Defending. You can add Nirnhoned too as i still need a few pieces for research

    I just beat Vet Maelstrom for the first time today. Got a ring out of the last chest. I'm just happy to beat it for the first time but I can see how not getting Maelstrom weapons or weapons with bad traits would be frustrating. Big time investment on the players part.

    My first clear took forever and I also got a ring. A ring that could not ever replace willpower/agility.

    Cleared it for the first time this week, got a powered resto staff.

    Cleared it 3 more times since, one of which was on a different character. I got:
    Healthy ring of Glory
    Infused Inferno Staff
    Precise 2h Axe

    Haven't really had a bad trait yet.

    more than 50 times i finished VMA but no staff still and i will give up soon...

    cuz i know that mostly i will have stupid useless traits...

    ZOS need to take out those stupid useless traits really...At least im gonna know that im farming something that im gonna use..it is not for nothing

    Due to how RNG works... it may take 400 runs for someone else. And then another dude will get it on his 3rd run. Yep, rng is pure fairness.

    I completed vet maelstrom for the first time a couple weeks ago. I completed about 5 more runs that week without a single drop. It was cool getting the first kill on him but honestly I didn't enjoy the arena and, I didn't like how much time it sucked away from doing things the things I actually liked to do while playing this game.

    Thats why I support the idea of guaranteed weapons in the last chest. The levels of RNG you have to make it through to get a good drop are insane. This change would atleast give me motivation to play vma again.

    Weapons should be 100% drop!

    The rng of getting the weapon you want in a desirable trait is tough enough without the other drops being in that chest.

    I dont bother with vma anymore, and so with eso+
    either 100% weapon chance at last chest with useful traits and 100% jewelry chance on 8th
    or bye bye.. My life is better than to be wasted behind rng wall that only lucky players got through or those unemployed/ without a bf/gf drinking mountain dew and eating doritos are ready to go through
