Charged Maelstrom Battle Axe??

Today I received a Two-Handed Battle Axe Maelstrom weapon, with charged trait.
I was wondering what effect does the charged trait actually have on the weapon itself?

Keep in mind the recent change to Charged trait:
"Charged: This trait now increases your chance to apply status effects instead of increasing the amount of enchantment charges on your weapon."

Merciless Charge Enchantment:
"Your Critical Charge deals an additional [X amount] Physical Damage over 5 seconds. Adds [X amount] Weapon Damage."

Charged:
"Increase your chance to apply status effects by 200%"

I'm guessing (not sure) if the Crit Charge damage over time effect is 100% chance, so does this render this trait absolutely useless for this weapon?

I have a feeling I'm going to have to continue endless VMSA grinding until I can get a sharpened weapon trait

What an absolutely pathetic and unusable trait to ever put on a Maelstrom weapon, there is no place for that trait when these weapons do not in any way whatsoever apply a status affect that would render the trait usable.

Whoever decided to place charged trait weapons in Maelstrom should be fired SMDH!

The Effect it has Is:

"Grants rage when received.
Also reduces Drop Chance for useful traits, while increasing Disappointment."

hahaha so it has no real effect on the weapon I'm guessing?

No, I doubt it does anything.

The "status effect" is already at 100% chance, so even if affected, it can't proc more than once right?

Edit: Wait, as I'm thinking about it...maybe it procs 2 or 3 times at once now, everything possible with ZOS
