Oh, I was expecting this to be about how all the enemies, except the boss, will never be higher than level 43, regardless of your level.

Did this last weekend on my CP160 toon, all the enemies level 43. Except the boss who was CP160.

Yeah, this is a persistent concern in the game that I hope is properly addressed in One Tamriel. I have a number of quests that I have out leveled and I am holding off going back to them until I have heard more about One Tamriel.

Technically, a lot of that quest line happens in the Shivering Isles, but I know what you mean.

I think it's kind of the point that it's meant to be such a hard choice. If it was balanced it would be boring like every other "please choose our future for us" quest hand in.

They try to make the choice sound important, but at the end of the game, it does not matter what you picked. The 2 skill points are about a half of a percent of the total skill points in the game and the Frost Staff is only good for research or deconstruction, if not used as part of the set. Either way, the reward does not matter. The best bet is to role play it, or just pick one, if that sounds better.

Edit: Should add that you get the gold either way. That is the more valuable reward.

Seriously, getting rid of Valaste while she was blissfully happy seemed like a "mercy killing" to me. A good thing, too - she'll likely go to Bliss, the "happier" side of the Isles. If she was going to Dementia, I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Of course when Sheo said I was getting 2 skill points, my selfishness and min-max mentality kicked in and it was a no-brainer to decide. Hahaha - no-brainer, get it? Because Sheo is like, you know, crazy?

Yeah its stupid to save a character that you will forget about on a quest you will forget about in a place you will rarely visit except to use the crafting station for two skill points. I always check the rewards ahead of time when there is a split decision.
You may want to play the hero for her but look at it this way, you are supposed to be gearing up for Molag Bal sacrifices must be made to ensure victory.

Now I lost 2 skill points that as a new player, I really REALLY need, how is that fair?

There is no other way to revert the change either, what the hell?

You should really add some "mini quest" or mail from her that give us some item that grant us x2 skill points, its only fair.

I've never expected something so ironic from ZOS, seriously, such a long chain quest that should be "legendary", yet with 0 reward.

I get where you're coming from, but I opt to save her every time. New or not, you can get two skill points just from doing the delves on the Gold Coast if you've got the dlc.

Sheogorath is the good choice. Valaste will no longer have to worry about the troubles of the Mages Guild or the world, she will live out her days blissfully insane in the Court of Madness.

    2 skill points + happy Valaste = win :)

I think it's not just winning, but how we win.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

Well the only reason you would choose to save Valaste as to be the good guy in the story. She only became interesting when she finally went bonkers for butterflies. I see the struggle between Sheogorath and Shalidor to be a parody of Molag Bal and Mannimarco. Both are a story of impetuous and arrogant mortal trying to to take on a god on their own turf. Did you free Mannimarco as well? Let the trifling mortals be punished, let Valaste take a much earned vacation, and celebrate the greatness that is Uncle Sheo.

Just take the skill points and save yourself a tremendous pain in the butt.

I can't believe I made the foolish error of saving an NPC that I never saw again. I mean, come on, there is no shortage of NPCs to interact with...

The easy solution is to just hold off on the Mages Quests until your high level. Then the points don't matter.

I must be a really bad person. I take the skill points every single time. Haha.

I will say, that the choice is in red and its pretty clear you are getting skill points if you chose the evil option.

The game gave you an opportunity to sacrifice to save another. I like the choice presented in this quest. I save Valaste and feel good about doing so every time.

Sometimes (often) doing the right is not the most profitable choice.

This quest was great. The one quest in the game with an actual real choice. I would dislike questing less if more had real impact like this one.

I honest to God can no see how anyone who went through the quests and all the scenes showing Valaste's and Shalidor's past and how egotistical and unloving he was and how lonely and unloved she was can possibly think her being Happy with Uncle Sheos is not the best thing that ever happened to her in her miserable little life! I will Always send her to the happy shores of madness for cheese and skeevers!

    You mad bro?

First time, I let her go off with uncle sheo and the butterflies.

After that, I tried the option to remove sheo's madness from her and that is and will always be what I choose.

The reason is simple, Valaste didn't choose to go loony. It was forced upon her, done to her without her permission. It's not only a choice between her butterfly happiness or book solemnity, it's a choice between giving endorsement to sheogorath's flippant disregard of others and being mindful that others have the right to make decisions for themselves.

If Valaste wanted to go, she could have turned to sheo after being un-crazed and said so. Her 'life', her mind, her self-will, her choice.

To be fair, that's kinda the MO for the Daedric Lords. Lure mortals in against their better judgment, then trap them. Often by hiding their true nature the entire time.

Yeah, my main is a 'good guy' so I missed out on those two skillpoints as well. I thought it wouldn't be a huge deal but, here I am two years later, having a hard time scraping up more skill points and wishing I had those. (Reason: My main is also a master in four crafts. This takes a lot of sp's. )

And to all of you that think Valaste is 'happy' being a prisoner of the murderous and insane Sheogorath ...

You don't think that Valaste, and even more so Shalidor should be held responsible for the outcome as well? They are both are more than aware of Sheo's nature, and chose to walk down that path. Not only endangering themselves, but disregard for the champions well being on top of it. .....all for a piece of real-estate.

Lol, you're barking up a tree that has already been barked at literally years ago now. There are more skill points than most people even know what to do with at endgame. Losing those 2 or 3 make zero difference in the end. Just give it up. They didn't change it 2 years ago, they aren't now.

Sheogorath didn't seem like he was taking her "prisoner" or punishing her so he most likely will take her to Bliss where she'll be blissfully insane. Have you ever played Oblivion? It's beautiful there and the Duke wakes up in the morning, dances for a few hours, then paints for hours before eating for hours then sleeping and repeating. It's not Coldharbor.

The alternative would be let her live in this war torn land that's being taken over by the King of ***. (4 letter R word for forceful sex)
