Housing: Crowns or Gold

Now that ZOS is teasing the players, by adding in the houses on PTS, what currency do you believe they will be sold under?

I am hoping that it is in game gold. I also hope there are Guild Halls to purchase as well.
I am looking forward to this addition.

So what do you say - Crowns or Gold?

I see the "Deeds" being sold in the crown store but how about the furnishings and decor?

If I had to wager a guess, I would think it'd be like Homestead edition in Skyrim. Purchase the DLC to get the plot, craft and purchase the things to build/decorate.

That castle south of Daggerfall though...

Honestly, I see something like that cost 5 million gold. Ideally, a couple of the smaller ones would be free but as a reward for completing a quest. Of course I was also expecting a gold based barbershop in game, so who knows.

We'll find out Q1 next year.

I hope it is a DLC we pay crowns for but the actual houses cost gold.

I really hope housing has some actual interplay with the game mechanics. I assume the "deeds" to the houses will be sold in the crown store and I'm fine with that, but I really hope we can either buy a variety of furnishings with gold or even better craft our own furnishings and decor using our tradeskills.

If housing is just The Sims + Crown Store I am going to be extremely disappointed.

It would seem to be a logical feature to put under the subscription or DLC model. As far as the ability to buy a house at all goes. There's going to be a lot of development put into this so I would expect to pay some real money

But since there are a number of different sizes and styles of houses, it would be nice to get the ability to buy either through subs or DLC, but make the actual purchase using in game gold. Better yet, with quests involved, or maybe certain achievements needed to buy the larger houses. Something more immersive and tied to actual achievements in the game than "here's some cash now gimme the biggest castle in the game; so what if I'm a level 3 noob who just got here an hour ago, I am willing to throw down lots of cash money."

Either way, since seeing the castle in Daggerfall, I have started to save both Crowns and Gold.

Is there a way to get on the grounds of the castle in Glenumbra? I tried to swim around the back on PTS to see and got eaten by slaughterfish.

As someone who has more Crowns than I know what to do with, I'll admit I'm biased in that I wouldn't mind this being a Crown store thing.

But as someone who used to be a teen/penniless college gamer, I definitely know the frustration of features like this being put behind paywalls, so I wouldn't complain if it was in-game gold or achievements.

My ideal is a balance of both.

The mods have specifically said that nothing has been added inside the houses yet, so if you do so, there will be nothing to see anyway.

Not sure. I have only seen the screenshots. I have not been able to get on the PTS.

Ahh, housing..

This is something Ultima managed to get right, and even Star Wars Galaxies, for awhile. Unfortunately most get it wrong.

1.) Housing should be something that you get in-game. It should be something that you can also implement into the economy. (Limited Space) perhaps in some of the areas of the map currently inaccessible. Where you must purchase the lot and the building. You could build in different cultural styles.

Housing MUST be a place other players can also come to visit. It should include a trophy area, where you can display specific items, gear, trophies, or achievements you've unlocked. There should be neighborhoods and districts.

A.) Perhaps adding a carpentry passive to the woodworking skill line could help, allowing them to sell blueprints for floor plans.
B.) These carpenters would also be able to provide furniture and decor.
C.) Clothiers could provide Pelts, Rugs, and Linens.

These things together could add to the in-game economy and make the game more immersive. It would keep gold flowing between players rather than into a gold sink. Which some sinks are necessary to keep P2P prices from inflating too much. Sure, you can add crown store trinkets to put in the house, but I fear if they make housing pay-specific, they'll lose a lot of players' interest. It should definitely NOT be ESO Plus only. I'm ESO Plus subscribed and I think it's a bad idea.

2.) Guild Halls/Housing. There are really a couple of ways to handle this. I think it's HUGELY important to have this. There needs to be a themed, common meeting place where guilds can get together. It would help with the involvement level and loyalties of every guild.

A.) Guild Halls could be something larger, more lavish, and pricier than housing. Large longhouses with seating and tables, a stage and podium, etc.. It could have a yard, whatever. We could make it as lavish as we'd like to. This would be instanced, of course, as having these actually in-world may be pretty taxing on resources. It should be something that only has access via a totem or something that transports them to the guild hall. Again, it should have Tapestry and decor bearing the guild's symbols and colors. Customizable to a certain extent by the guild.

B.) Player Housing can be doubled as guild housing. As a guild, you can set the guild home to a player in that guild's home.

Then again, ZOS doesn't make money this way. With their current track record, I don't think they're really thinking about their fan base and the immersion. I think they're thinking about target markets and how to capitalize on the pay to play franchises.

The SWG housing was great. You can only wish a system like that would've been implemented.

I agree that it shouldn't be behind a pay wall or a Eso+ perk.

Yes, like the trophies. They better make them like the mementos and go in your collections tab.

I would hate to have to collect these again to be able to display them.

As for me? Knowing ZO$ it will be purely from crowns. However I hope they follow all other games trends and go with in-game currency.

Mannequins, Weapon Racks, and the like would be great!

We will probably have to buy (with crowns) decor packs and such. Then we will have access to craft that model.
