I am so excited for this, but am interested to know, will the hairstyles work in the same way as costumes? If we decide, after a while, we miss the old hairdo, can we just 'unequip' it? And will all characters be able to access the hairstyles we buy via the crown store like costumes and pets? Or do we have to buy them individually for each character?

So... the actual DLC is just 2 dungeons?

As much as I'm looking forward to playing with new appearances, am I the only one thinking that 2 dungeons seems a little thin for a DLC?

I know many, many , many people who have been waiting month, since IC for exactlt this. Thin, sure. But the replay value gives it more energt than tg/db.

My speculation is it may just unlock for the barbershop whenever you use it. But maybe that as well. 'dozens' of new hair styles sure does sound like a plethora to choose from.

I hope they don't forget our dear Argonians with this. They don't have hair, but they could use some new horns and feathers.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

I liked most of things. Of course, mad curious about the cost of Barber shop and the way it's going to be handled.
Skye Cloude - Sorc DPS, Master Crafter. Main, the bestest
Lae Lenne - Templar Healer Trial grade.
Dromede - Stamina Nightblade, she's a newb and doesn't know what she's doing
V'oghatta - Stamplar pretending to be a tank
Ulville Thonvella - aspiring Fire Mage, be careful around her fire sticks!
Dromedaris - lost and not found. Named after a shoe, what else can you expect from her? A proper tank in her wildest dreams
Swims-Naked - too pretty to grind, too silly to quest.
Sun Flair - Dunmer Templar that can't spell for life. To bad she's too broke to afford a name change... Well, at least she's pretty...

This is all really exciting and all but there's still this feeling of impeding dread.

The Xbox release of DB was unforgivably rotten in terms of performance. Thieves guild was pretty terrible too... Orsinium was never fixed. The pattern is there, with performance getting worse and worse each patch... Update 11 may be the last nail in the coffin for some of us.

This one she is pleased in principle but waits to see the details.

If these features are exclusively crown store then this is nothing but a store extension and not really part of the world that is open to all - as it should be.

Khajiit accepts the purchase of new hair styles - like hats - and new costumes. This one does not accept having to pay through the paws every time she wants to dye a costume she already owns or use a hairstyle she has already bought.

I am glad we are getting the barber shop and text chat..... but seriously only 2 dungeons for a dlc pack? Is that only gonna cost us 5 bucks? I really really prefer Shivering Isle size expansions, before that though I would love love you guys to fix your game first.

I know! Disappointed about this too. I would have taken minimal work to implement it actually into the game, compared to just having a Crown Store Token. I was hoping they would do something like The Secret World did. That game does so much right... Oh well.

The money-making machine of big business trundles ever on, stream-rolling any artistic credibility and creativity along it's dour way.

I am also wondering whose child the facial effects person is. Improved facial effects. Again? Really?? Get that person to work on something useful!

Yeah Im that guy it seems. :(

I mean, I'm actually a little intrigued. My characters always look... blank. They just kind of look around on the same loop, occasionally doing that whole baring-their-teeth thing if there's enemies nearby (? sometimes it feels random). They also feel pretty unexpressive for some emotes like crying, which ain't right. I'd appreciate some tweaks that make them feel more alive. It's far from a priority, but it's nice.

Yes, I'd really love to see "moods" added! This might not change your idle animations (pretty sure they'll reserve that for the "personalities") but would give your character a distinct look on their face. And it would stay that way until you changed it. I'd like to see:

    Angry
    Happy
    Sad
    Brooding
    Haughty
    Pensive
    Frightened
    Thoughtful

I'm sure you guys can think of lots more but even just these I've listed would be a great boon. It used to be that if you used the /no emote your character would continue to frown and look kind of angry after the emote ended. If you used the /yes emote they smiled and kept smiling after the emote ended. You could then use /shrug to return to a neutral expression. Then a loooong time ago that stopped happening. No explanation or mention of why. And when you use those emotes now your character maintains the blank doll face look they have all the time.

Am i the only one who doesnt see "Dyeable Costumes"? I would love to have this, just dont see mention of it.

    Last part, @Ritzey01

"We'll be discussing some of Update 11's additional features at a later date, including new motifs, new item sets, improved facial effects, the ability to dye costumes, and as always, many changes and improvements to existing content. But will they bring back all the costumes I didn't buy because I didn't like the colors they were originally??? Also, how is this costume dyeing going to work? Will we be able to use the dye station as we do with armor and the lootable clothing? Or are we going to get ganked in the cash shop and be forced to buy special dyes to apply to the costumes? I wonder because of the "consumable dye packs" that have been datamined and shown here: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/270043/data-mining-icons-items-including-db-update-additions/p1

I suspect that we will have to buy Crown dye packs.

I also suspect that management is kicking themselves for introducing free dye stations before they went B2P. Have any new dyes come out since then? Dyes are perfect for the Crown Store, and yet another way to wiggle their hand into our pockets.

So much wriggling in our pockets.

This one suspects maybe fellow khajiit are running the store of crowns yes?

Except if that were the case this one would have expected at least one khajiiti costume so far ...

And I was so hoping that new hair styles and markings and adornments would be added to character creation and that the barber shop would be just going back in there to "edit". For a price ofc. Now it seems it will be "Spend an hour creating character with old choices, exit tutorial and visit barber for an hour for tweaks and appearance upgrade". For a price ofc.

I do hope they place the barbers in the starter zones. :p

I just want to point out that the "quick and dirty" implementation will be an account level selection on the Option/Alt menu. Like Character, Skills, Champion, Mail, etc. In this way, it can be accessed from anywhere, no restrictions on location. Less work for them, bigger return on investment.

They already said that it will not be like a barbershop. We just call it that.

Edit: also want to point out that in an RPG, it would be something they would have in the game world, not on some player menu. This is less of an RPG and more some hybrid solo adventure game.

Nobody asked, but I thought I'd go ahead and leave my interpretation of the appearance change information here.

I believe the barbershop, and all appearance change options, will be available through in-game means. This is due primarily to the wording of the two sections, alongside ZOS's general pride in the Crown Store.

Let's start with the new premium hairstyles section.
    Premium Hairstyles and New Adornments

With Update 11 we're introducing dozens of new hair styles, adornments, and body markings that can be purchased from the in-game Crown Store. Update your character with new and stylish looks that will be the envy of all your friends!

Obviously these items will come from the Crown Store - no ambiguity there
    Appearance, Race, and Name Change

Are you tired of your current look? Do you feel disconnected with your racial features or your gender? Do you wish your parents had chosen a better name? With Update 11 you can purchase tokens that will allow you to completely redefine your appearance, pick a different name, or choose an entirely different race!

Not a single mention of the Crown Store. This section comes before the Premium Hairstyles section, so it's not like the Crown Store was a given for the concept. I would expect, if it were going to be a cash exclusive, it would say "...purchase tokens in the in-game Crown Store" like the other section. Since it doesn't, I'm led to believe that these tokens aren't exclusive to the Crown Store.

In truth, I feel the only reason to use a "token" at all is because you intend to make it available piecemeal through multiple currencies. Buy a bundle of tokens (with Crowns, gold, or a mix), then spend them on the different aspects of character creation. It doesn't make much sense to use a token system at all if it's an all-or-nothing deal anyway, other than an arbitrary level of obfuscation (always a possibility with MMO developers, but I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic).

Anyway, that's that. We'll know soon.

They have previously stated that they don't want what you are suggesting with Tokens. That does not mean they won't, but it does indicate that they probably won't.

The reason to use Tokens is because we cannot spend Crowns directly in the game. They don't want that. This is why we cannot go to any merchant and just buy "Crown" stuff with Crowns. This is why you have to go to the Crown Store to buy Mimic Stones. This is why you cannot purchase Crown mounts from stables. This is why you cannot walk up to your friendly neighborhood Werewolf or Vampire and pay Crowns for a bite. The tokens are the exchange between Crowns and the service you want, in this case, character re-customization. They could have used "Scrolls" or "Potions" or even some food item.

Last, we can spend in-game currency directly. We don't need to buy Tokens. We can respec Attributes and Skills by spending gold directly, we do not need to buy a Scroll like the Crown people do.
