Some of you missed the point. You dont change anything on the prison server and you cant send them back to the wailing prison. the point was having the three servers, NA. EU. and prison server. The last one is no different than the other two, just everyone there is perma banned from the other two. ZOS doesnt lose sunscribers that way and doesnt have to perma ban accounts (well, they might lose subscribers if those accts unsub). There was another benefit to not perma banning accts that I read over on the eq2 forums, but I cant recall precisely.

Tbh, it would probably be a kick-ass, issue free server because of low population.

Not only should they banished to the oblivion server but said server would not receive any performance updates. Thus they have to fight in a permenent lag fest.

How about this, when you get killed and re-spawn on the spot. That ghost form your in just before you come back to life. Cheaters and/or hackers get a 30 day, played time(720 hours), of this form as a debuff. Once you log off the timer stops. You get to run around everywhere. See everything but is unable do anything.

Besides, it is a waste of time to change anything on the prison server. They are cheaters. Any change that is aimed to annoy them in any way will be bypassed by them, because they will just cheat.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

Sorry mate, my Concept Repository only houses the concepts I have posted.

Perhaps you could start a repository of your own! I know @Kalifas has started one recently. I also think @TheShadowScout , @Enodoc and @tinythinker may have a thread like that as well.

It might not be a bad idea to link to eachother's threads...

Now, about this topic. IF they were to do this I think the rules for that prison server would have to be EXACTLY the same as ours. If ZOS did things like... remove wayshrines I'm afraid I'd want to play there instead.

How did the experiment in EverQuest workout?

I just don't think this is a good idea as people would intentionally cause issues to get sent to the bad boy/girl server.

I think hard consequences should be the order of the day.

You cheat and there is undeniable proof of cheating Account perma ban.
You harass others three strikes then Account perma ban.
You spend all your time disrupting the forums three strikes then Account perma ban. (ie you get banned on the forums, you get banned in game complete account wipe)

This is pretty much how Square Enix handles, it's I know because I have seen it happen, and they have one of the nicest communities out there.

Dark Souls II and Titanfall have done something similar called "soft bans." They are effectively the same as what EQ has done: players caught cheating and/or exploiting are relocated to a server exclusively for cheaters and exploiters. There they can no longer interact with the normal player base and this relocation (in Dark Souls II) is done quietly, without the offender's awareness.

This solution, to the general playerbase, is as effective as permanent bans. At the very least, it provides poetic justice, forcing cheaters to see why they ruin games.

Just send them back to the Wailing Prison newbie zone, disable waypoints and fast travel, and the portal out will only open after a set duration.

@Knightpanther If cheaters are banned from the game, they can make a new account and start cheating again under a new name. If cheaters are exiled, they can continue to play and are less likely to create a new account.

To the rest after skimming: the most cost-efficient punishment I can see being imposed on the exile server is to artificially delay client-server communication. Latency. 200+ ping? Otherwise, do just leave it as a copy of the normal servers. These people either exploit or hack, so imposing arbitrary boundaries are moot. Having the fun sucked out of their experience by other cheaters doing everything to win will be demoralizing enough.

Yeah Square Enix has pretty good community but that is because there games are so group focused. Especially FFXI since there is no cross server duty finder.

I know I saw a video of some guy running around zones shouting "Japanese onry" over and over to get on the prison server. Was kind of messed up since all gamers from different countries play on the same server in that game.

Sure they can after giving ZoS more money for the game and starting ant point zero, they do it again banned again, at the cost of more money.

    Some people have disposable income.

I personally prefer Blizzard's approach. Whatever they do, cheaters cannot even make a new account for Blizzard games -- it gets banned on creation or soon after. https://www.vg247.com/2016/06/03/overwatch-perma-bans-really-are-permanent/
The only thing cheaters have not tried to get back in is to build a new computer and get a new home.

You don't mess with Blizzard. The don't just ban you. They black list you. The ban your card and flag your name. They make it very clear that not only do they not want you in their games, but they also don't want your business.

This is how cheaters and hackers should be handled. Zero tolerance.

Although the idea gives me warm and fuzzy feelings, I'd rather ZOS not sink time and resources into creating stuff for cheaters to do. I'd rather they spend their effort preventing, policing and permabanning.

Yeah, considering what setting up and maintaining a megaserver must cost... its not a viable idea.

Personally I think ZOS should just levy crown fines for offenses like that. Use a cheat program? Pay 5000 crowns before you are allowed to play ESO again. Caught cheating a second time? Pay yer fine to get unbanned. Maybe with an added fine for repeat offender.

That way, the powers that be profit from having to take disciplinary action, and the cheaters get hit where it -really- hurts - their wallet.

It sounds like a relatively good idea, but on the other hand it might encourage some people to cheat in order to get the transfer to the cheat server.

Also, if the cheaters were to have their separate server, I'd be kind of envious because there are many of us who have been wishing for a 1.5 server for a long time now.

Have open world PVP on the Oblivion server, and make the guards see all players on that server as fugitives from the law as well.

It'd be an interesting experiment to say the least.. would players intentionally cheat to get put in an environment with full PVP? Or would people avoid cheating to not face world PVP?

This is a great idea for anybody that thinks otherwise. ZOS continues to make money. The cheaters/Jaded do far less damage to the game/community.

If somebody WANTS to play on the cheaters server how is that a problem. You have to pay the monthly fee to continue playing. That's a win in my book.

Whats wrong with the cheaters having a playground? They have to pay for it.
