They haven't put out a single lorebreaking mount yet. The Dro-m'Athra lore has been around as far back as Kirkbride Lore, now actually brought into the game world with the help of our current loremaster, concept artists, and digital artists. Long may the reign.

I freaking love ZOS! I knew they would take a look at a thread like this if more people jumped on board. Sorry for the clickbait title everyone but I wanted more people to participate. So far my favorites are the Wamasu, sheep, and the more realistic horse options. Other than the totally awesome Unicorn from Oblivion of course lol

Don't even get me started on the Infernal City. I bought it, and it was a painful read. Every single character, regardless of race spoke in the same tone with perfect grammar. No accents or anything. Only TES novel I've read. There isn't many.

In regards to your question, I personally do not believe the current mounts are lorebreaking but makes for good clickbait. Got you to comment didn't it? I mostly wanted to read about the different mounts people would want to see in game but knew not to expect that. Mostly I expected comments calling people ignorant and dumb, because somehow those comments seem to thrive all over the internet.

Add unicorns! I think in oblivion or maybe skyrim iv picked up a unicorn horn. So that must mean at some point they existed. Doesn't break lore and would be pretty cool

Back in my Vanilla days as a WoW player I utterly adored my undead horse. I remember saving every copper, silver, and gold I had to be able to afford the training and mount once I hit lvl 40.... Death is so cool...

But back to Tamriel and the present. The Zombie horse they came out with during Halloween time was pretty epic. I hope they release more Undead themed mounts too.

Just elaborating on the Unicorn and on more horses in general...

Newer mounts are really well-made. I absolutely love the wolf mounts, they are beautiful. I think the horse model could use an update. For instance, maybe they could, you know... blink? xD

Just a gripe I have with the horse models. They look terribly outdated when compared to newer mounts. It would be great, too, if they came in more than one shape. Different horse breeds can be so different from one another!

Their proportions, the shape of their heads, they are very different. I would understand if Tamriel only had one breed of horse and they were all the same because of it, but Oblivion horses were visibly different from Skyrim horses (who are, according to the in-game lore, bred for the hard terrain).

And we can see it is not only a difference in style or graphics, but they have actually a different build. I know remaking old models and adding new models for the same species of mount is a lot of work, but it is just something that I think would be pretty awesome.

If possible, I would like the Unicorn (if ever added) to have a different model instead of just having a horn slapped on the forehead of the same old horse model.

Regarding "lore breaking" for mounts ... Well, there's nothing in the lore against someone riding a dire wolf. Or a bear. Or a Dro-M'athra. Or a dragon. But canonically, these things are rare. And in a multiplayer space, when you can have dozens of people run around like this, it doesn't break the lore, but it bends the appearance of the game world to something that might at one point become unrecognizable as Elder Scrolls. Which is why I'm rather happy that these stranger mounts are more expensive than normal ones.

So, I'd love to see more "plain" and common mounts. Some slender horses like we had in Oblivion perhaps. Or some plain cultural mounts like the camel.

Argonian: I'm not sure Wamasu have ever been used as mounts, considering how dangerous they are. Plus, Argonians have their own unique way of transportation (rootworms). Possibly their culture has no unique mount, as they semselves are already perfectly adapted to the swamps (thank the Hist).
Altmer: Sunbirds are technically not animal mounts, plus we don't really want flying mounts. I somehow think Altmer would prefer walking in-short-stride or magical transportation to mounts. Maybe especially elegant horse breeds?
Breton: New horse breed; a bit wild and donkey-like. Imagine a Wyrd horse.
Bosmer: Boar.
Dunmer: A plain-colored Guar, or an insect mount. I believe Matt Firor once suggested something like that.
Imperial: There's already the Imperial white horse. Wouldn't mind a slight variant to that.
Khajiit: I believe we have more than enough Senche by now.
Nord: New horse breed or one of those shaggy cows. No Mammoths please.
Orsimer: Bears are already fine, although I wouldn't object to an Echaterre.
Redguard: Already have camels with some nice variants along the way.

I would love to see a greater variety of horses/mules/donkeys, honestly. Not just colours, but different widths, heights and builds. It would add a lot for those of us who aren't so into the GIANT! SPARKLY! MAGICAL!

Also, maybe an ox or yak. Yep. I would love a big ol' furry beastie of burden.
