Whats the Point in getting xp now?

So now all mobs will have a Champion point rank...and if they are 40 points less or something you only get 30% of the xp...so now if you are any kind of regular player you will basically get no xp because your champion points will be higher then every single mob in the game... On top of that no champion cap increase... I have to say I'm very disappointed in this.

I do like a lot of the changes coming but I really wish ZoS would cater some to its dedicated players rather then just casual players. Anyone else agree?

Get you main to max CP before DB launches, other toons get to 50 and just stop. You will immediately have 8 max lvl toons this way, with minimal effort. Yes, pretty sure that is how it is intended, although I do not know why.

ZOS should have clarified it: for purposes of calculating the you-are-too-overleveled penalty, your CP will not exceed 160.

I.e., as a CP606 character, I was getting the same XP from killing CP160 mobs on the PTS as I did from killing VR16 mobs on the live server.

With 600 CPs it sounds like you didn't have any incentive before Vet ranks are going to be removed or what did you do with XP now. If you've got everything (including all the sets and achievements) than there's no point in playing for you I guess.

And The Division is lacking incentives as well right now. You're lucky you're playing on console as PC is full with hackers.

Every major MMO I have played has some sort of lvl cap, or do you want it to be like one of those Korean ipad games that lets you get to lvl 999+?

Basically, you get to max lvl, then you work on getting max solo gear, then max group gear, then max raid gear. Then you re-do the raids 1,000 times until everyone else in the guild gets max raid gear. Then you keep killing raid mobs until the next expansion, at which time you start over at the beginning.

Eventually the game gets waaay too complicated, nerfed all to hell, everyone you know leaves, and you find another game to play, in which you start the process all over again.

This should not be a new concept for many.

I never really thought about it while I was playing them, but in retrospect, you just described the exact life cycle of every MMO I've ever played.

    Edit: Now I'm sad. :(

@code65536 The system that decreases XP gain from killing monsters 40 or more CP below your character's is not active on PTS yet.

Edit: But I hope it will work the way you describe it.

This point requires attention from Zos. NOW!

Answer is probably that we will be locked at cp160 just as our gear is. We probably will not be CP 500 for awhile.

"ZOS doesn't play their own game"

    Ok....but seriously.
VR removal should just remove VR.
CP exp should continue just like it does today but with a few changes.
All players should be level 50 once we hit the old VR stuff.

All NPCs should be levels 49-56 if they had VR levels.
This addresses this unnecessary CP 40 PTS thing

They've mentioned that they're going to raise the cap eventually. They still want players to catch up. Most vets haven't capped yet. There's still stuff to do. Like make money and finish your gear if you haven't already.

Wrong. Whatever the max number of CPs you have now, you will keep. If you do not have 501, they will compensate you with bonus CPs equivalent to your highest Vet lvl, basically paying you back in CP for grinding out those levels.

If you have 450 CP now, you will still have 450 CP then, as will all of your other characters on that account. Everybody is not going to be "reset" to 160.

Seriously? So when people hit 210 Champ Points, they have to do triple the work to earn a point? Do I even need to say this is a bad idea?

So if the above is interpreted that the 40 point reduction is in fact not intended but happening and will be removed, cool.

Yes, but if you have 450, it will take a loooooooooonnnnnnnggggg time to get to 501. Way longer than it takes now, especially with the Catch Up Mechanic increasing the points needed to gain at higher levels, now we have to do triple the work on top of that.

Not really, I mean think about it, what other MMO out there lets you earn advancement levels that are instantly shared with all other characters across your account?

Think about it, you only have to lvl up one character. Any character you play earns "account advancement" in the form of CP.

So if you have a 501 maxed out character, and roll an alt, guess what, you are lvl 1 with 501 CP, and all you have to do to achieve the game's max lvl is to get him to lvl 50, which is ridiculously easy running around with 501 cp and a set of the new training gear to cap xp bonuses.

I was just thinking about this and more specifically the silver / gold zones. Since I am close to cap (I'm lazy), all of silver is going to be in that 30% category and I assume gold as well. Actually doing the quests there is going to be terrible. Not only is it going to be little xp, but even less of a challenge than it is currently.

The director developed a game called Dark Agr of Camelot.
Once you hit 50, All alts could start at level 25 instantly.

There are other examples but I think this means more as the two games are almost an exact copy in every way
Even the bugs and frustrations which ended by Mythic being owned by another company. The game is still active today tho

Totally agree. I'm disappointed with how they are removing VRs. In time, we will all see this is a trick to slowly raise the level cap, something most of us hated about the VR system itself. Granted, at least now higher levels share exp across the account. Overall, probably a litte better, but not what I was hoping.

No MMO could release DLC fast enough to catch up some "dedicated players" who would grind 8 hours a day and burn thru everything in game then ask for another "fix". It would cost a lots more money to hire more devs, testers, there will be tons of bugs and half-finished DLCs... and yet they will never make new DLC fast enough.

Some cheap Asian MMO would allow people to do this and then give these "dedicated players" lots of power reward for their grind so they can crush other players. And then they will sell buy to win items on the store to help people with no time to grind to beat those "dedicated players". Those cheap games usually die within 1 year, because soon, casual players understand that they have no chance against the no-life gamers, unless paying bunches of money. I've played a few of those trash games, and I don't want ESO to be like that.

Second, but not s question, Instances and the gear we can wear is locked at cp160. As OBVIOUS as it is that Zos would give CP/XP to someone at CP 500 for a kill of someone at CP 140 while gear and instances are capped it's also possible they overlooked this.

In other words, this needs to be tested rather than just complained about. If it is the case Sos needs good feedback about it rather than just complaints based on theories on what might be. I don't see you mention you e actually seen it work as you suggest.

Exactly, i laugh when people are like you can get to max level in a week and stuff, i l am like wtf. Most mature productive adults dont log on and play video games every single day of their life for multiple hours a day. You can never please them with enough content. I may not hit 501 CP in a year because i dont play every day of my life. I couldnt imagine going on my next date and she asks "so what do you do in your free time?" and i respond with "I play video games for 5 hours a day every single day". She would walk out immediately, crap i would if a girl told me she did more than 3 nights a week. These dedicated players are people who basically do nothing but play video games in their free time and developers just arent going to cater to those players cause its impossible to provide enough content and progression for them.
