Ooooh! So that's why I actually like @names more! Oh us Templars.
Really though, it's always been *very* available. To be honest, most of the folks who will turn nameplates on are probably the same folks that used addons that already showed this. I enjoy the @name as it allows me to know a person rather than having to memorize 8 character names.
[EDIT] And on another note, if it's WHAT your @name is, is why you don't want it known... message support. I'm sure if you explain you didn't understand it would be public at the time of creation they might allow you to change it. ✭✭I want to be able hide the @names as well, other games that have @names (Star Trek online, Champions online) allow them to be hidden.
To be frank I think they're the most unimmersive part of the new UI (the large health bars are the other another thing that irks me).Edited by Kendaric on April 29, 2016 6:23AM0 -

✭I have no problem with broadcasting my @name. 'baratron' is my username everywhere. I've been using it for 17 years, and if you see someone with this username it's almost certainly me. Of course, I also have different passwords everywhere.
What I object to is the ugliness of the new UI. Between the enforced @name display and the funny little Ludo piece symbol, it's now blindingly obvious who is a player and who is an NPC. I always liked how we, players and NPCs alike, look like people in the same world.
I honestly never thought I would be here in any seriousness complaining about how a change to the game is ruining my immersion. It's a roleplaying cliché, and I thought I wasn't the sort of person who used clichés seriously. But I can't think of any better way to explain how much seeing @names is making Tamriel look ugly.Guildmaster of the UESP Guild on the North American PC/Mac Server 2350+ CP & also found on the European PC/Mac Server 1700+ CP
