I'm curious, how many competitive guilds do you think AD has?

it feels like theres about 4 now days :\

Where is the banana squad guild? are they in TF or Asura Star?

There'd probably be more quality groups on DC and AD if EP didn't run in their 80 man Zerg 24/7. Leadership can't overcome that fact.

Somebody calling out an entire faction as selfish because no one was running a group he could benefit from deserves a little flak. It reeks of entitlement. Reevster may be a great human being, player and a god among men, but he was wrong to lash out in this way.

No one should run a group unless it's something they enjoy and want to do, otherwise the group won't be fun for anyone.

If there happens to be no one running PUGs on a campaign, no one is responsible for that. Either step up and do it yourself or deal with it.

well said, START a GROUP yourself!

VD does not chain react. So...yeah. Pugs not your problem. Problem may exist between chair and keyboard.

VD deals dmg when someone dies which helps to kill everyone in the group.
My statement was a little simplified but you cannot deny that its risky with unskilled players in your group.

We usually run a 16-24 man group on Trueflame EU and fight groups 2-4 times our size.
Even if someone has the required amount of HP and proper gear it can still be dangerous to run with inexperienced players. The VD explosion is high AOE dmg that comes on top of high burst dmg which caused the player to die.

PUGs are a problem if you run a coordinated group, we wipe hundreds of them each day so its no like I dont know what Im talking about.

Sure, PUGS can cause a breakdown in an organized group generally, but that wasn't the rationale you supplied.

I may have run a guild raid or two myself, and believe it or not, letting in a few pugs every night has not brought about instant doom due to an apocalypse of VDs. Rather it has brought about the growth of the guild. Plus, inexperienced players need to get experience somewhere.

Meh. Run your group your way man, but equating pugs to instant death for the guild raid because VD...w/e.

    Rerolling is not the answer.

Nor is chastising @Reevster or other LFG players for trying to join organized groups led by players more experienced than themselves, or for not starting their own group. You don't know him or the others. He may be inexperienced and trying to learn PvP. He may simply not want to lead. Shame on anyone who talks down to LFG players and groups.

The solution is for a couple of experienced players in AD and the other factions to step up and run instructional LFG groups.

The most significant factor separating a pug from a member of a guild groups is discipline.

New or inexperienced players aren't going to teach themselves, and honestly, with the breakdown of many organized guilds recently, we need new groups to spring up.

Kena, you know I <3 you but that asks a lot of people, honestly. Running with DR, this is pretty much all i have spent the last three months doing, and all I want to do is jump in and fight. I just want to PvP. Spending hours teaching people the basics, after the game has been out for 2 years now, really kills the joy of it.

Perhaps it is selfish, and I do not, not for one moment, envy those that came before me. It is harder than 1vXing. PvP final boss? Lead a group of newer/inexperienced players, it is a nightmare.

    The cliches are all there

    - The guy that wont change any part of his build
    - The guy that wont stay with the group, will chase Xevenex or Kodi all over the place because SQUIRREL
    - The guy that wont siege, or will pretend to siege by standing near someone elses
    - The guy that tries to facetank siege
    - The guy that uses PvE setups for PvP because so and so told him it was pro
    - The guy that watched youtube videos and got the idea he was now all ready to jump in and be the next Sypher Ali.
    - The guy that doesnt shut up in TS, talking about natch potes or hating the game or totally irrelevant stuff
    - The guy that has no mic (this one really irritates me, even though I allow it)
    - The guy that wont stop reporting to me when something is being hit despite me having killcounter addon and knowing a resource flipped, and the fact i check the map religiously as it is
    - The guy that goes somewhere to save it, despite that not being the plan, because he clearly knows better than I do, and will argue with me for an hour after
    - The guy that just wants AP for the emperor achievement and quits once he realizes it aint happening
    - The guy that gets ganked over and over and over and over because he wont stealth or find an alternate route past the bridge or milegate.
    - The guy that screams "THEY ARE BEHIND US" implying its a metric F ton of them, and its fricken Xevenex by himself.... and then half the raid is like SQUIRREEEEEEELLLLL

And on and on and on

Disclaimer: DR has improved a lot, but in the first month, jesus h christ. x.x

I agree completely with Rylana here. It is easy to get into the game if you step up and prove yourself. And I agree with zyklysis. There is so much entitlement and very little offered in return in OP's sentiment.

It is unfortunate that Crown and Slaxis left the game because they were willing to run a guild that didn't exclude people and yet still had standards. I helped them found Misfitz. Look at what Rylana posted -- we had to deal with all of those things. We did it anyway. People laugh at Misfitz and Victorem. "EASY AP". Well look where AD is now without it. Nobody gets a group.

Misfitz and Victorem eventually folded because people weren't willing to get better, they weren't willing to listen, or they were unable to perform. But they still expected to be able to play with the best. Since the game is no longer new I think you will not see another "training guild" again.

There's another good example of something that everybody laughs at that is a little unfair. Yeah they were bad but the guy who did it wanted to make a good guild, and he made it open to all comers who were willing. He didn't necessarily have the discipline or wherewithal to do it. It's easy to laugh. At least he tried. You won't see me making fun of Rangers.

I started running LFG raids in zone last September and its only been in the last couple months that we have really been able to compete with higher tier guilds out there.

It's easy get a group together what is hard refining a group. It takes long time to refine to the point where they aren't 75% guaranteed wiped every meet another guild. The results end though are worth it :) if you have the patience and the time..

I can't say I would do it again though. We rarely pick up from zone now and are totally focused on refining the core players of our guild. We only pick up players as needed for a sustainable level.

Very cool Nik!!! Running pugs is sure not easy. But it has to be done, I am not patient enough with that so thx for taking in peeps and teaching them. We can only win from that as a faction but I also like to see your core group as highly competitive which you are! Congrats on that and keep going! <3

Don't fear friend, I washed up on the shores of BAD INTERNET in BFE Cali a year ago, all I could manage was a SATELLITE connection with 750 ping as my lowest ever. 999+ in Cyrodill.
Forced to fight my way through the jungle of BI, I grew weary and fell to my knees, sobbing. Slowly, though, a light grew within me and I healed my way through the maddening darkness of frustration.

And then I rerolled my life and my new toon is homed in ENGLAND where I have FAST INTERWEBS and despite the distance, my ping can be as low as 150. (Although now my problem is crappy Laptop and if more than 5 people show up to the party things stop loading in. Pls cast rapids on the cargo ship carrying my stuff.)

Seriously, it was so bad all I could actually play was a healing templar. I just ran around and tried to heal so I didn't lag and die...and I still lagged and died...LOL. Some nights I'd disconnect 10+ times. I could probably relog into this game in my sleep.

Hopefully you escape the land of bad net soon. :)
