This is such a fun build! Soloing CoA was easy, but vCoA was a pain as the clanfear wouldn't cross the streams to tank the boss. Can't wait to try the other dungeons! This was my Khajiit sorc btw, works just fine for this style of play.

@Waffennacht You mentioned that you were using this build in duels--has that been successful? I've been testing out pet sorc myself in duels with 5 Necropotence, 2 Maw of the Infernal, 3 Willpower, Master's Lightning/Resto. It's hilarious to watch four pets wail on one guy, but the build seems to fall apart when coming up against decent opponents, especially stam players. If you don't mind me asking, what setup have you been finding success with in duels?

Hey Waffennacht, had your thread stickied for some time and plan to level an altmer with your build. A great read. Maybe I missed it on your first post, but have you gone all light armour or 5/1/1 to have max physical resistance and potential to use the undaunted passive?

I've used it before and it makes it easy to swap out skills as your thoughts develop over time and you change the build. It would cut down a bit on what you have to add to the original post if you make a change again.

I run Trinimacs/Infernal Guardian/Lich on back bar

I use two Destruction Lightning Staves. (I have a Lich Lightning Staff)

This allows me to have VF/Crystal Frags/Inner Light/Ward/Matri on main bar
and VF/Elemental Blockade/Basically any skill/Boundless/Matri

Generally i'll Ward/VF (this usually sets off CF) and CF, swap bars then put down EB swap back, and repeat rotation while throwing in Heavy Lightning Attacks....

I can do this FOREVER...never running out of mana....

I use the Matriarch mainly for a healer..My friend decided to pick up the build also and just queues for Healer in Vet Groups and heals them

The guide has been updated with new sets and new abilities and wrote new information, this is an extremely effective build now and I feel is only going to get better. Thanks for all your help guys, and to you the forum goers as well, thanks!

You could try 15 Elfborn, 20 Spell Erosion, and the rest divides evenly between Ele Expert and Thaumaturge, or a little more on Ele if you're getting a fair percent damage from single target attacks. When I did some pretty extensive testing on a target skeleton, those were the numbers that seemed to perform best.

I don't think I saw Elemental Drain on your bars. I would definitely drop either Boundless or the 2nd Hardened Ward for that. I've also been practicing using the Overload bar for pre-fight buffs, like Power Surge and Boundless Storm.

I ran the build through vCoA solo last night, it went really smooth. I still want the inferno staff for PvP builds, however I'm quite pleased with my lightning staff now

I can't wait to get my hands on a skeleton and see what this build can pull in.

The build looks good, there's not really much to add the only thing I'd personally change is Necropotence over alchemist as I don't believe it's the best set for PvE, I use it on most builds PvP wise though

Necropotence can't be back-barred like alchemist or lich can, that's the issue.

If we could get nec/BSW/monster on a staff build it would be pretty broken.

I'm trying to decide between this or necro/bsw/maelstrom myself.

You can, that's how I play my PvE magblade. I use a fire staff and have the 5pc on the front bar and 5pc of BSW on the back bar and it procs reliably just when bar swapping.

True, what you would hope to do is, have BSW backbar, proc it, move to front bar where Necro is x5.... and I see I was beat to the punch as I type this.

Downside is the bouncing magicka bar, oh and the absolutely pain-in-the-rear getting inferno staff BSW AND a sharpened Lightning necro staff...

I don't have either of those myself. Alchemist is craftable which makes life so much easier than BSW, Lich, or Necropotence staffs. Necropotence can be purchased but is usually really expensive. I lucked out with the lightning BSW staff, and after receiving two in a row sharpened BSW axes I doubt I'll be seeing a BSW sharpened staff for a while.

As for the build, atm I switched out Atro mundus for Shadow and boundless for innerlight. Things usually die before I can use my procced frag

Hey thanks, I've been really focused on my Warden so my Sorc has been neglected. That and Pet Sorc builds are pretty popular.


What I have done, is replaced the inferno bar with a Restoration staff, replaced the destro move with combat prayer to keep the familiar alive (if they still don't Regen)

Been able to complete everything all the same
