I actually think, that for them going back to WoW would be good for them and for us TES fans as well. Then they stop messing up our TES world with their WoW like requests and we can finally enjoy Tamriel like intended. So to those, who want to go back toi WoW - have fun, enjoy your life and stay there.

Before Legion launches, there needs to be something big like battlegrounds + barbershop + a type of transmog system if they want to prevent me and many, many others from going back to WoW when Legion arrives.

Legion will add a new class, new story and huge zome, more flying mounts and PvP maps, as well as improved, faster, more "impacting" combat. Those who dog on it are just ES fan boys. I like the story in WoW, great since Warcraft and with the movie coming in June, people will be making their way to WoW once again. Personally, I dislike the weapons and armor feel in WoW, it is to clunky and cartoonish. Yet, I know Legion has a lot to offer, so yes, ESO would be wise to get Dark Brotherhood and another good DLC out as soon as they can lmao.

You do realize WOW became that popular because there was almost to no competition and today people feel bad to quit after they invested so much. Compare WOW to ESO is dumb as one been out what now, 10 years? And ESO isn't even 2 years old yet. Finally, based on my experience with other MMOs such as LOTRO and SWTOR that have lots of repetable end game content, ESO is a master piece Elder Scrolls game but a terrible MMO. Being a fanboi, I'll stick around for the bitter end and see it through, but if I want to play WOW I will go play WOW regardless of how ESO is doing.

I don't think they are desperate for new subs, though. I have been gone for quite a while and they have not come begging for my subscription. :frowning:

They are going to get DB and TG out the first half of this year, and that will likely be enough. That type of DLC is not really a WoW thing. Wrothgar is more like something that would come out in WoW, a new zone that just extends "the same".

Anything they can do to improve combat will be interesting. For a while, after ESO came out, I played both WoW and ESO. I eventually came to the realization that WoW combat was very boring and mechanical. What I ignored while playing WoW was that it was increasingly tedious to execute on the rotations because there was never any strategy involved. In comparison, I think ESO combat is much more dynamic and requires more thought. It is this that frustrates many of the WoW warriors I know. ESO's lack of buttons to press puts more onto the player and my WoW friends are all about rotations and lots of buttons to press.

At the core, ESO combat mechanics are better for players who want to be part of the action. WoW has a way of disconnecting the player from the combat in a manner that does not happen in ESO.

I think some may move over to try it out, and sure some will stay. However, WoW is still WoW, and many people have already tried it and left for some reason or another and odds are they'll leave again.

In the past I had played WoW when it first came out, and would leave and check out the new expansions as they came out. Yet, each time an expansion came out fewer and fewer people I knew would try it out, and it finally hit the point where even I probably would not try it out. I just enjoy ESO too much and on an even more generic level I have learned to love playing on a console as opposed to a PC.

That fact alone essentially established a rubicon in my gaming life where, despite having played MANY MMOs in the past I simply can not bring myself to go back to gaming on my PC.

    LOL... Sorry but.. ROFL!

No. WoW is going down big time. They will surely have a big pop the first month or so but as soon as players see that all the classes have become the same damn ***, PvP isn't fixed and got even more brainded, and PvE is a faceroll, they will scatter. Or are you forgetting that the same happened at the beginning of WoD? I did preorder Legion but I am extremely sceptical and don't think they will fix anything. That game lost its wonders. Not to mention a big chunk of the player base that does not include brats.

EDIT: Now let me do a short list of things WoW does not have compared to other games:
    - graphics (I am tired of every robe being the same model with a different texture, extravagant shoulder-pieces and ridiculous cartoonish architecture)
    - PvP on ESO scale (complain about the lag all you want but nothing compares with running alongside 50 other people towards a keep)
    - darkness - this is where ESO also shines, damn that atmosphere
    - people - WoW is full of immature brats and trolls
    - skills/abilities/crafting - in ESO you can create your own class pretty much (unless you come from WoW and played a hunter there, and then go with the flavour of the month in every other game)
    - character design - ESO is the best in this regard, I'd wager

Source? Played WoW in years and got tired of walls of texts they call quests, RNG, idiots, and how they are killing every class and dumbing it down.

Really well it well be just like MoP and WoD people go and play for few month in WoW then theget tired and boring then the well go to WoW forum and troll for few month then stop playing WoW all together then the well leave WoW just like the always do and just like the have done in other expansion nothing will change.

But i guess the are few people that like easy mode MMO just like WoW are everyone get samething gear and that is sssssoooo fun and everyone is sssssoooo unique in WoW ^^

I thought most people stopped playing W0W after the welfare gear handouts?

WoW was great until Blizz started listening to all of the people wanting the game to be "Easier".
These people wanted easier.. Then 4 months latter started leaving because the game became Boring...

Sadly the same thing is happening to ESO. People that play MMO now days want instant gratification.
Players no longer want to have to "Work for/earn" anything. If it isn't easy to get on one dungeon/boss kill they expect it to be handed to them through a Cash Shop..

Sad honestly.. The state of MMO's is suffering from this.

I don't agree that if ZOS doesn't do X, Y or Z people will go back to WoW.

While WoW is still a good game, its a subscription based game where this is not.
You can play both at the same time if you choose.

Now if someone like yourself is drawn to WoW over ESO, its seems that your desires are met more-so in WoW than ESO.
I think that if certain changes don't occur very soon, in ways that the larger community accept or desires, it could drive players away...but to another game, sure, to WoW....who knows

    I'm referring to:
-removing VR levels (but not doing what ZOS thinks is ideal, which is aligning VR with CPs)
-Eliminating the likely-hood of new bugs and not resolving many existing bugs
-Re-prioritizing many of the year ahead changes or adjustments by platform
-Hitting the roll-out dates of DLC...looks like this next DLC will be at the very end of Q1....if not delayed

I played WoW a long time ago. Then I decided to try it again a few years back - they had that fancy phone authentication.

I broke my phone and long story short I ended up paying a sub for like 2 years and never even had it installed.

Once I finally unsubbed.. it made the decision to sub to ESO pretty easy. lol

Not quite. He didnt write 'ESO sucks, gtfo' like most people in this thread do with regards to WoW. He wrote what he liked about WoW, what he didnt like and whats coming in Legion.

I dont necessarily agree that the WoW movie will cause a massive player surge towards the game (looks too generic). I dont think ESO will be left devoid of players when Legion launches either. Theres just not enough overlap in playerbase. I do agree however that ESO needs to release quality content or people will leave. But this goes for every MMO and has nothing to do with WoW expansions.

Wow I plaued because of the hype surrounding it got to 33 looked at clock looked at player base looked at community I was like what is this dragon size pile of crap why is this popular 6 faces and haircuts and ugly gear boring point and click gameplay....

I ditched wow went back to tera online I had fun with that til the free to play launch killed player progress imagine eso making gold tempers cash only with a random chance to get one when sinking cash on it.

So far eso seems solid needs work but crafting isn't a pointless grind slog lots of gear styles and mix match can't count the Times on wow I had t he same armor recolored in a higher level and called new

People said the same things about ArcheAge and Wildstar when they were released. While some many return to WoW, I can't imagine it making that big of a dent into the ESO community. Each game caters to a different type of player (not to mention WoW requires a sub). Personally, I cringe at the thought of returning to WoW.

That's because these new MMOs releasing are missing half the content and quality of life changes WoW has done. WoW IS the MMO you want to mimic whether you agree or not, it is the only MMO powerhouse in the west.

Now obviously I'm not talking about copying them 'word for word' but new MMOs are failing because they're not releasing a game that is modern and are releasing ideas and content that have failed in other MMOs but aren't learning the lesson.

I'm pretty sure the majority of WoW players are in the east, not the west.

It's why MMOs that launch here never break past 3 million, not because they aren't good.

People know Ronaldinho but how many people know the rest of the people that use to play for Milan when he played for them? It's the same thing here. WOW is the Ronaldinho and the other MMO's are the faceless players. People are weird like that. Single player people especially are guilty of this. WOW is great but legion is bringing power fantasy you get with single player games so that expansion will be hit or miss. Nothing spoils people more than power fantasy. I have to be the strongest blah blah.
