My first PvP experience

I say "first" as I have only ever tried IC when it came out. This is also my first MMO.

So, I started by travelling to the nearest of our keeps with an enemy keep nearby. I met up and followed a small group of people to see what I needed to do and where I should be going. I had done the training at the home base, but this was a while ago and still didn't really understand which siege weaponry to use very well. Unable to assist the taking down of any walls I decided to keep watch. By doing this I managed to save a fellow team mate from falling to enemy hands. Moments later we rushed the keep and fought off a swarm of the opposing alliance. The keep was ours! With a few cheers and an achievement unlocked I couldn't wait to get going!

The next battle wasn't so easy. Many fell before reaching our next goal - the enemy's outpost. Our small group seemed to fizzle out until I decided to try another area of the map.

Thank foop I did! A much larger group of us started a battle with the other two alliances in the battlefield. I can only describe it as absolute carnage with no real winners. We started to branch off to head towards the enemy farm. Fortunately we met little resistance and we took the farm with ease. It's at this point I decide to take a breather.

Mistake.

A solitary player approaches from an opposing alliance. 1v1 ensues. I will admit to being poorly prepared for PvP and have no real tactics yet, but I try. So as he seemed to lose no life and kept bashing me down I held my ground. I use shield, I use potions, I use everything I have and so does he. We battle for roughly 20 minutes. Then there it was. Another player approached. My team mate. He could have walked by, he could've left me to my fate, but no - he gives me the edge I needed to finish this battle once and for all! Moments later and we did it. We finished the player and had a little cheer.

At this point I realised it was about 2:30am and I should probably go to bed.

See you tomorrow, Cyrodiil.

Were you playing non-vet or in a vet campaign? Seems like you had a blast!

See guys? PVP isn't bad. You've just gotta give it a try!

Glad to hear you had fun! I remember my first time in Cyrodiil simply started out as "gotta go get all these skyshards," and now, nearly a year later, its the only reason I even play the game anymore. Once you get hooked there is no turning back.

This one is glad that you have enjoyed yourself in Cyrodiil, even though this one knows the learning curve may be steep. May this one recommend you a few guides? Knowledge is power, and the more knowledge one accrues, the more likely you'll make the other poor sod die for his/her alliance instead of you dying for yours.

This one hails from far Singapore, excuse this one for his high pings. He also apologizes for any formatting/spelling errors, as he tends to answer using a mobile device.

Insanity is the price of Knowledge. Herma-Mora and Sheogorath, this one bows before thee.

This one does not advocate for any class to be nerfed. There are far deeper underlying issues then a simple "Class Imbalance". The Champion System is the problem. Not classes.

Please read this before creating yet another nerf thread.

My first experience at full PvP was being blasted by the at the time bugged coldharbor siege weapons constantly until I was like BLEEP THIS!

Wow, I'm glad you had a blast! My only experience was of joining a small group that got pummeled by a 24-player zerg at the first keep we came to. I was getting ganked literally every time I managed to get back to the keep on my horse...

Awesome Cazzy! :D Your first PVP experience sounds like it was a lot of fun :)

My first PVP was more like... hey! this place is huge & empty... where is everyone? I'll get up on top of that tall rock & do a heroic rearing horse pose... a DC nightblade appears out of thin air & knocks me off my horse & stabs the life out of me before I can get up. I respawned back at the Gate & quickly wayshrined back to PVE land. Heh!

Now I have a char that I am only levelling in Cyrodiil :) I still lose more fights than I win but I really enjoy the PVP zone.

Don't worry, PvP starts out really fun, then turns into the most aggravating, frustrating things to ever enter your life. It's a lot like golf.
