Templar Enigma

@DanielWinterborn You keep hearing the same HA + Templar = bad for pvp for several reasons.

    1. Magicka Regen. Heavy Armor provides no Magicka Regen bonuses. PvP, especially 1vX is all about resource management. If you are depending on your magicka for offensive capabilities, you need the passive bonuses to regen & cost reduction provided by the LA passives. I cannot stress the importance of this issue enough.

    2. Spell Crit. Heavy Armor provides no Crit chance bonuses. Crit chance is not as important as in the pre 1.6 era, but you still need some solid crit chance. Once again, the light armor passives provide 10% crit chance bonus at max level if you have 5 pieces of light armor.

    3. Spell Penetration. Heavy armor and Light armor both provide significant boosts to Spell Resistance. More resistance, however, means nothing if you cannot put out sufficient damage nor manage your resources. Many of your enemies will be wearing light & heavy armor. The spell penetration bonus provided by LA passives is once again indespensible.

    4. Armor Sets. Very few heavy armor sets provide bonuses to Max Magicka, Magicka Regen, Spell Power, Spell Crit, and Spell Penetration. Yes, you can use CP to increase these stats, but you will still be far behind other players whose armor, CP, and playstyles work together. (Synergy!) The abundance of good LA sets and set bonuses will allow you more flexibility and better ways to maximize your damage output.

In sum, the resistances you gain by wearing HA are not nearly as important as the bonuses provided by LA. Nobody likes to run a cookie-cutter build. However, it has been proven that certain combinations of skills, stats, and gear work time and time again. If you can make heavy armor work for you, that's awesome. Seeing as you're posting on the forums & looking for advice, heavy armor isn't working for you. Making/Acquiring new armor and sets is a big ordeal, but it will be worth it in the end.

    Okay okay okay

First off: If you are making a thread complaining about Templars, complaining about your unsuccessful endeavors in PvP, expect advice thrown at you. Expect suggestions. Try suggestions

Secondly, you are complaining about being hit too hard while in heavy armor. The purpose of heavy armor is to mitigate damage. Apparently it's not mitigating damage for you. Instead of refusing to TRY suggestions by yourself, you are wasting your time arguing with people and not progressing conversations. Heavy armor isn't doing its job? Try something else then

You are running 432 spell penetration. 432. Light armor will increase that by roughly 5K? I forgot how much the tooltip is as a VR16. That's a significant DPS increase. If you run dual wield nirnhoned swords, that's an extra 18% spell penetration on top of doing 5% additional damage combined with the fact that you can make use of another set bonus.

585 magicka recovery? What sets are you running? Your stamina regen is higher than your magicka regen.

Consider increasing your health - 20K health is pretty low considering how hard you can be hit by stamina damage(as you stated in your original post)

You said you are too squishy, and you don't have dps. Put on light armor, as it will increase your regen, spell crit, and spell pen. An increase in regen will allow you to potentially DROP some regen from your jewelry/gear and get more spell damage - which will result in an increase in damage.

OP you can slot Radiant Magelight and it will protect you from nightblade attacks from stealth. It will reduce the damage they do + you will be able to spot them much easier. It will however also decrease your max magicka with 5%, but for pvp it might be worth it.

Many pvp players are magicka users, such as yourself, and the physical resistance you gain from heavy armor might not help at all here, in exchange for light armor that provides you with spell resistance instead.

For fights when you come up against someone, who does physical damage, of course you will be taking more damage while being in light armor, but you can also attack them back, and if your damage output is just as high, their defences against your type of damage will also be low.

You can alternatively lvl up a new char from a different class and race, and try that out - maybe it's more in your taste.

FYI the faster you kill someone the less dps they can put on you.

Hi there, so this is really bugging me because i am trying to figure it out:

NB>Sorc>DK>Templar>? (not even mobs since i cant solo vet maelstrom tho i can solo most of IC)

Really, in 1v1 my Legendary item templar gets murker by pretty much anything yet my purple item DK nukes like hell...Hmmmm

It does not stop there! So my templar is a magicka dps build, im using heavy armor on him and i got around 27k physical def yet for some reason i get 15k wrecking blow hits (no dk) :)

Some more : i got from one guy a 15k heavy attack hit on 27k def. (no dk)

Yes this is a tempalt QQ post, this class is nerfed beyond belief. Why not take it out entierly?

Bottom line templar in pvp is only a support class?

    With regard to PvP:

With 27k armor, If a burst specced physical damage build hits you, it's going to hurt regardless of what you do with your gear due to armor penentration and the lack of physical damage reduction in the Champion System. Your 27k armor is probably around 7-12k against most bursty stam builds after penetration.

I agree with many above. There is no point in wearing Heavy Armor unless you are going to really focus in on stacking your defenses. AKA, lots of armor(way more than 27k) and lots of health(40k+)
