OVERVIEW
The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited v2.2.1 is an incremental patch for the PTS that addresses a number of issues in Wrothgar, Malestrom Arena, and Old Orsinium. We’ve also made fixes to the base game patch for gameplay, crafting, itemization, UI, and more.

While this patch does not address the current issues with monsters having 50% more mitigation or ability cost being higher than intended, they will be fixed in patch 2.2.2.

The size of this patch is approximately 5.9GB for English, and 5GB for German and French. Thanks to everyone for your feedback and bug reports so far, and we look forward to seeing what you think of this latest patch!

AVAILABLE TEMPLATES
We've updated the Veteran Rank 14 templates to be Veteran Rank 16.
  • Note: The gear for these templates has not changed. New item sets and weapons from Orsinium will be added for testing in a future PTS patch.

    • Fixed an issue where some bear mount sounds mistakenly had Senche mount sounds.

    Itemization

    • The Regalia of the Orsimer King's Acquire Hint was a spoiler. Shh! We want everyone else to be surprised by what happens in Orsinium. The Acquire Hint has been altered to be less spoiler-y, while still being accurate and helpful in acquiring the Collectible costume.

FIXES & IMPROVEMENTS, BASE GAME PATCH

    Alliance War

    • Attempting to travel to a wayshrine within Cyrodiil will now give the proper error message.

    Art & Animation
    General
    • NPCs will now return to their correct sitting position after you attack them.

    Combat & Gameplay
    General
    • Fixed an issue where several damage over time effects were not allowing multiple casters to apply their own stack. For example, previously if two player characters cast Scalding Rune at the same target, only one of those effects would apply damage over time to the target. This is now corrected for the following abilities:
      • Cripple
      • Trap Beast
      • Scalding Rune
      • Poison Arrow
      • Burning elemental status effect
      • Poisoned elemental status effect
    • You can no longer resurrect an ally while you are hidden or invisible.
    • Anyone with more than 501 Champion Points on their account will have their points reset when first logging in, to ensure they are under the new Champion Point cap.
    • Fixed an issue where the visual effects associated with rotating abilities were not displaying correctly.

    Dragonknight
    • Draconic Power
      • Spiked Armor: This ability now returns damage from melee area effect attacks (such as Puncturing Strikes or Blade Cloak).

    Nightblade
    • Siphoning
      • Sap Essence: Fixed an issue where this ability's heal effect could be dodged.

    Templar
    • Dawn’s Wrath
      • Sun Shield: Fixed an issue which was preventing this ability’s per hit increase percentage from showing in the tooltip.

    World
    • Vampire
      • Undeath: Fixed an issue where this passive was granting significantly more damage reduction than intended.

    Weapon
    • Destruction Staff
      • Force Shock: Fixed an issue where this ability's shock and frost damage was delayed slightly after the fire damage.

    Guild
    • Mages Guild
      • Inner Light: The Magelight from this ability will now disappear when the Magelight setting is set to off in the Settings menu.

    Battle Leveling
    • Battle leveled player characters will now have more weapon and spell damage, and less health regeneration.
    • Fixed an issue where Item Set bonuses were not displayed on the Character UI properly for battle leveled player characters.

    Monster & Boss Abilities
    • Omen of Blood (Stormhaven)
      • The Omen of Blood’s clones are now named “Omen of Blood.”

      • Heavy sacks located in the Imperial City, Cyrodiil, group dungeons, and Wrothgar will now largely drop materials based on your passive crafting abilities.
        • For example, a blacksmith with rank 1 Metalworking might obtain iron ore in Cyrodiil. If that blacksmith upgrades their Metalworking passive to rank 2, they will no longer obtain the lower rank material, and start obtaining high iron ore in its place.
        • Note: At the highest passive ranks, you still have a chance to obtain materials from the previous tier.

    Crown Store
    General
    • Fixed an issue where the announcement for featured Crown Store items would appear each time you zoned, rather than once at login.

    Itemization
    • Fixed an issue where bosses and mini-bosses in dungeons were dropping less loot than intended for battle-leveled groups formed through the Grouping Tool.
    • Removed the required level from the tooltips of Soul Gems and Repair Kits. They still function exactly as they did previously, but now you won't see a big glaring red number implying you cannot use it, even when you can.
    • Fixed an issue where the loot from Champions in various Dungeons would not scale to your level if you were below Veteran Rank 1.

    • Storm Knight: Fixed an issue where this item set’s ability only dealt damage on the first tick.

    • You will no longer receive a non-dismissible notification that your group is ready after the group is formed.

Were the mob mitigation and ability resource cost bugs fixed in this patch? Would be good to know especially with the Vet Maelstrom Arena challenge added now. Didn't see the notes for them.

Added one missing note for the Crown Store:
    • Fixed an issue where the announcement for featured Crown Store items would appear each time you zoned, rather than once at login.

@Freeman - as stated in the Overview, those two issues were not fixed in this patch, but will be in patch 2.2.2.

I would hope it's at least before this competition they have comes to an end. I didn't see anyone on the leaderboard, ever. Meaning no one has completed it yet

In light of this I highly suggest you postpone your Veteran Maelstrom Arena event by one week.

This is extremely unfair for the NA population, as their chance to get on the leaderboards starts this week, and they will have to deal with the 50% damage mitigation & the high ability costs bug, while we get our character copy next week with 2.2.2 and these issues will be fixed for us.

With these bugs, I personally don't believe the veteran maelstrom arena can be finished, meaning the people from NA won't be able to complete the event.

Do I understand correctly that the following changes are for the PTS but not Live since they are not in those patch notes:
    • All Ogrim, Daedroth, and Grevious Twilight will now properly drop Monstrous Teeth in the Imperial City and Imperial Sewers.
    • Fixed an issue where you were unable to obtain VR15 loot in the Imperial City that was normally available in the Live client.
    • Increased the drop rate of set items from the White-Gold Tower and Imperial City Prison dungeons by approximately 2.5 times their previous rate.

Why is this stuff fixed for the PTS rather than the actual game?

And the character copies, too. Next week, when you copy EU, NA players will be stuck with templates.

You need one week where NA players have their actual characters, and you need one week where EU characters have their actual characters. Templates are at a major disadvantage competing against properly optimized builds.

Added one missing note for the Crown Store:
    • Fixed an issue where the announcement for featured Crown Store items would appear each time you zoned, rather than once at login.

@Freeman - as stated in the Overview, those two issues were not fixed in this patch, but will be in patch 2.2.2.

And the character copies, too. Next week, when you copy EU, NA players will be stuck with templates.

You need one week where NA players have their actual characters, and you need one week where EU characters have their actual characters. Templates are at a major disadvantage competing against properly optimized builds.

Yeah this is pretty much what I was going for.

You can't start an event if the conditions while having copied characters aren't equal. NA will be at a major disadvantage the way it is now.

While this patch does not address the current issues with monsters having 50% more mitigation or ability cost being higher than intended, they will be fixed in patch 2.2.2.

:/ This was really the only fix I was hoping for.

How about learning some respect, young padawan ? I'm pretty sure if they could have solved this earlier they would have.

I play on PTS with a template (meant to be a "clone" of my main VR16 on live EU) she's VR14 with VR14 gear. I don't have my usual addons thus no numbers, but when exploring / questing / doing delve bosses, the feeling is just the same as any other solo/quest zone with a toon of the same level. (that means : easy to too easy).
I can't seem to be able to solo world bosses unlike I used to in other zones (but I haven't tried very hard either).
Haven't tried public group dungeons or solo arena yet. Obviously many people managed the normal version already so the difficulty must be ok.

All this to say I'm not sure of the impact of this bug on the doability of the vet arena. And yes obviously the conditions will not be the same between the 1st week and the 2nd but the scoreboards won't be shared anyway, and yes, EU will have a slight advantage, but c'm'on guys, this is only a for-fun-contest on PTS.

Yep.. good to know ZOS can fix visual 'bugs' like Magelight, but doesn't bother fixing the real issues at hand.

I completely agree with this. I now have ~75 - 80 set pieces from WGT. I've been looking for a pair of spell power cure gloves for over a month now.

    Well done.

This pretty much - love fighting outnumbered not including the people ressing, and the people dead. What the hell is the point of this change? To ensure I can never recover friends bodies?

The rez beam already gave very clear indication of someone being rezed (despite the fact that it was glitchy and would draw a line from the dead person to where the rezer was last seen).

This is pretty pointless, dont see a reason for that either :disappointed:

Anyone with more than 501 Champion Points on their account will have their points reset when first logging in, to ensure they are under the new Champion Point cap.

This may be controversial, but I'd suggest resetting everyone's CP when the cap goes into effect. If you were planning out long term, you may have allocated points differently than if you knew from the beginning you'd only have a max of 167 per CP type. If there's a top level item you really want eventually, you are going to have to focus on that tree right away; no picking up chunks of other trees.

Better yet, don't force a reset, but give players a reset scroll that expires in something like 7 days from when they pick it up/log in, so they can reset if they want to, but doesn't create a pain for users who are happy they way they are.

Were the mob mitigation and ability resource cost bugs fixed in this patch? Would be good to know especially with the Vet Maelstrom Arena challenge added now. Didn't see the notes for them.

I would hope it's at least before this competition they have comes to an end. I didn't see anyone on the leaderboard, ever. Meaning no one has completed it yet

Birds whisper this "bug" is in there intentionally. It´s not hard to figure why it would.

Can't rez in cloak, stealth... :(

Everything you said is nothing but commonsense issues... If they want *** to be harder gives the mobs more hp, it's that simple don't cut my damage in half. Also yea sure this is for fun... But half damage plus resource bug makes it next to impossible even for skilled players. No one has finished vet. ZOS is silly because they could have waited one week to start the contest it's that simple lol
