Should player housing be added?

In the single player games, we can own houses and decorate it. A personal solo area to display trophies collected and can be upgraded with new stuff for a price.

    Too many in-place systems broken.
Too many new systems promised and not delivered yet.

Put the housing back on the dream board, where its been since people started asking for it twenty months ago in Beta, and work on whats already on the table.

Where is the end game? You just played it.
Why don't I have 300+ skill points? Because you skipped content along the way.
    Where is new content? Sigh.

First of all, this isn't a single player game. Second, this has been brought up a million times. Yes, pretty much everyone wants player housing and guild halls. We will get them eventually.

It shouldn't even be considered a debate anymore. Pretty much everyone wants player housing with only a few saying that it isn't worth it because they want fixes, release of planned content and the like.

The real question that should be asked about housing is in what form it will take...

As long as it is accessible to all within a tier system and not just the rich elite.

EQ2 did it right where houses were in town in instances to avoid having a housing zone which suffers from abandonment in other games. Plus the convenience. Tier 1 is a basic 1 room without much, but it is cheap. Tier 5 is a massive house with large storage and other perks, but expensive.

The size of the house depends on their tier you are in or choose to stay in regarding your house. Each tier has different sizes and perks.

    Display for what reason?

So they should add it, because people will buy it and they'll make money.

Then they should add an auto-level item so I can skip the level up process, because people will buy it and they'll make money.

There are numerous things they could add to the game for the sake of money, but that doesn't mean it's worth adding to the game.

I used to say yes, because real MMO's like LOTRO rock it.

But if it has anything to do with the crown store, then my answer is no. I'm not really into paying for what others offer included in the game for free.
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

Well, a level-up for pay would be classified as "pay to win" which will turn many gamers off. Housing however would not be P2W so it won't have that negative.

I play these games now for just under 40 Years..... and that was 40 years of being a "horder"
And I must say... it is about time :-)

The additional employees that ZOS will have to hire can be paid handsomely from the additional revenue from the Crown Shop :-)

Adiitional employees for the housing.... and.... additional employees for BUGS only...
Both to be paid by the additionsal Crown Shop revenue

I think in the far future developers will add such a thing, it is only a matter of time. But it is very intersting to dream about it, just imagine that TESO developers will add a big location where will be only houses of the players. It will be such a location where we can visit each other in our houses, show to each other our trophies, maybe there will be such an option like breeding of domestic animals, for example I want to domesticate a big spider, or we can grow different plants in order to collect them from time to time and make a potions. I can dream so much on this topic, because developers can make a location without war, only for peaceful life. Tired of war? Go to your own house, visit ur neighbors, just relax and enjoy ur life :)

Oh but it does have value. People are willing to dedicate time and gold to be able to create and customize a home that they can call their own because its fun for them. The precise reason housing is so popular is because many people see creating and customizing it as a high amount of legitimate fun. That's real value right there.

But I will be peeved if it is put behind a pay wall in the cash shop.

Then by all means, let's add that level skip item. Let's add skill points to the crown store, let's add attribute points to the crown store. If making money is what it's all about. Might as well add a real money auction house system, and take a cut from every sale and listing.

That is what it's all about, right?

    Yes - eventually.

Right now there are about a hundred other things more important for them to work on, from barbershop to TG&DB, from promised content to bugfi... uhm... game system optimization. ;)
But as long as the game goes on, I expect we'll get there, someday. I just hope they will be reasonable and not go overboard with it... I'd much prefer to see small cozy houses and not palaces that put kings domiciles in the game to shame!

Really it hinges on if it's a proper thought out system, with meaning and utility. If it's just a room, instanced away from the rest of the world then no. If it has a real purpose, is fully customisable and a worthwhile time-sink then hell yeah.
