Glass Motif Ridiculousness

I've started doing writs on the PTS to try and tease out a drop rate on the fragment pieces. Not enough testing yet to hazard a guess (currently one 1 frag in 3 writs), but one thing I did notice was the frankly stupid price of the restorative resin. 25k!



So not only do you have to chase down an absurd number of fragment pieces, but you have to pay 25k for a chapter, or some unknown chance of getting the whole motif!

True, but that's a bit much to put into the RNG (which really really hates me already)

What about the fact that the motif ingredient requires 10 raws to make 1 that ends up bound. So you can only sell the raws, which will only be found in chests.

By the time you get 10 pieces of fragments you'll have saved enough. It will only take, what... like almost a year to get the whole motif if you get a fragment every single day.

It seems all the new motifs, and mats are set up to be so difficult to collect, that people will have to buy them in the crown store.

I generally don't sell raws, I hoard them to make things for guild members. It's just that dropping 25k on something that the RNG has control over is really off-putting.

Actually, everything I've tested thus far (except the new potions) has been really off-putting. I won't drop crowns on this when my sub expires unless there are some drastic changes. But I'm not holding my breath...

If the resin would restore the fragments to an entire motif. Even if we needed 20 or even 50 fragments... that would be reasonable. For one page. No. Not even remotely.

So if you are lucky and get all the pages you need on your first try, that's 140 pages and 350k gold. Let's say you are superlucky and get a fragment out of every writ you do with your smith/clothier/woodworker daily, that's 47 days in the best case scenario.

Or you put down 5000 crowns for the cash shop motif.

I'm all for rare items, but this is a bit too much. It's just too much unnecessary complexity and RNG at every turn. If you want to introduce a gold sink along the way, fine. But can we at least chose which page to recover from our fragments? Or can fragments be more common so we can at least try more often?

What really bugs me about this is that it punishes roleplayers; characters who are not I-Can-Craft-Everythings. I have a clothier, a blacksmith, and a woodcrafter. I'll need at least all armor pages twice, for the clothier and the smith, and that really really sucks. The hefty price almost forces me to abandon either crafter and skill everything on one character, which is just crap roleplay.

In addition to being merchant sold there should be VIABLE alternatives, such as

• Include chance in undaunted daily for resin to drop, in both normal and vet, increase chance for completing optional silver/gold difficulty
• Include TWO resin as quest rewards for completing MAJOR milestone content in IC, one in PvE and one in PvP
• Include chance of resin as campaign rewards in top 10% for leaderboards at end of campaigns.
• Include chance of resin as reward for completing trials

I think higher chance of drop for activities you can't grind out, like campaign reward and less chance for things you can grind like trials and to an extent undaunted daily.

You're sure the style stones end up bound, and you're not just looking at previews of the crown store stones?

This ridiculous RNG gold sink/grind has to go. I would rather they tie it in with in game systems as rewards, like completing pledges or achievements or quests. 375000 minimum to get the full motif is just too much.

@starkerealm Yeah, it was in the patch notes that it becomes bound.

Okay, this one I really don't understand. What's the point to binding the style stones? All that does is create a recipe for a situation where players end up taking stones out of circulation because they don't understand they can't use them, and saw something they could refine at the bench?

Don't mind gold sinks. I would rather pay 50k or 75k, hell 100k gc's for a choice than anymore RNG. But the pages should end up on guild stores right? Might let someone else deal with this RNG headache and just get the gold (whatever amount) to purchase. Oof I partially even hated writing that, dealt too many rng raw deals.

I recall this being an answer you gave someone over an issue and it seems to have solved it quite easily and a similar answer I believe would suffice for you in this case as well.

Being hard to get is one thing.

Being IMPOSSIBLE to get because RNG will keep giving you same chapter/motif over and over again without ability to trade it off (only raw glass shards from chests are tradeable).

People WILL BE screwed over by RNG.

All chapters/frags of glass motif must be tradeable.

All this petty compaining is nothing compared to seeing my face when i realised that i would not be able to use my 8 million saved up ap to buy nice new imperial city gear for myself haha

All those days of resisting the temptation to buy ap boxes like all my guildmates did... For months i saved bit by bit

The patch notes don't mention the pages being bound. Hope they aren't.
