What the is going to happen to my gear I spent months farming and saving for upgrades. IS THERE ANY WAY FOR THEM TO SCALE WITH THE PLAYER, AT LEAST THE UNDAUNTED MONSTER PLEDGE SETS?! I mean come on, this just straight up demotivating/ low/ discouraging/ frustrating. They said vet ranks was going away. HOURS OF TIME LOST ON CURRENT GEAR.
And therein lies the problem. Inherent to the vast majority of MMOs these days. One day, one day, a company will be brave enough to truly be different and break out of the mold.Garethjolnir wrote: »It is to be expected. Welcome to MMO's.
The current bind for ZOS is that they are trying to release new content and remove VR at the same time. If they delay new content until VR is removed, well, we've seen how well big delays have gone over. If they release major new content without progression, some players will get bored or feel they aren't being rewarded.Rev Rielle wrote: »And therein lies the problem. It's a problem they created, so this isn't about sympathy, but if I had to decide I would go with new VR levels rather than incur even more delays. Not ideal, but honestly Imperial City and Wrothgar should have been out already. Would be nice if ZOS gave us a status update on completing phase three of growing out of the VR system like they did with the preview of the Championship System at the guild summit last year, but they haven't given any sign of being ready, able, or willing to do so yet.

To everyone defending this:
ARE YOU FORGETTING WE WERE TOLD THAT VET RANKS WOULD BE REMOVED AND THE GRIND WOULD BECOME BEARABLE?
Yeah.
Yeah, I asked about this months ago. Haven't heard an answer. I suspect it is one reason why VR is still around. I don't mind VR but according "to everyone" (so say all the posts on the matter) I am in the minority. Not sure if it was Firor or Sage but I got an answer on Reddit once that level-gating would be a thing of the past. OK, maybe, but if so, I hope they at least have completion-gating for some content (you've completed the initial main quest, you've completed Cadwell's Silver, you've completed Cadwell's Gold). I doubt it if it's all going to be DLC. I've also asked if everything new would be DLC, no answer there either that I know of.I_killed_Vivec wrote: »tinythinker wrote: »The current bind for ZOS is that they are trying to release new content and remove VR at the same time. The real bind is that they said new content would scale to player level - so that everyone has access to DLC (for obvious financial reasons).
How can you scale content? What convenient ranking mechanism would give you an easy way to scale?
And while you're at it, make it so you can scale gear, potions, food, the whole ESO experience using that same ranking...
Even better if such a ranking mechanism is already in the game.
Just why would they get rid of VR? And what could replace it? CP count?
Remember, while you're grinding out those CP you get VR for free!
2 new VR levels for new content is fine by me - even if I don't buy the DLC I'll still level up to VR16 as I continue on the CP grind...

Which was primarily due to the fact that there was content to play through and new exciting gear to acquire coming along with the cap raise. People are now forced to spend time in the same old places doing the same old stuff acquiring gear -- the same old gear, basically, only two VRs higher -- for the sole benefit of keeping up with eachother.
