The game STILL crashes every 5 minutes after patch 12!

I have submitted well near 100 crash reports and I seriously doubt I am the only one. This needs to be talked about. We need to know why this is ACTUALLY happening and whether it is going to get better.

Same on the crash front, I spend more time submitting them than playing the game! I can't get more than 2 minutes in game and has been happening since patch 12. Before that I had no problem. I have an open ongoing ticket as they are telling me it is my antivirus that is the problem so disable it. I did and I still get constant crashes. Interestingly I notice people have been told it is there 32 bit system that is at fault but not once have I been told this is the issue from the diagnostics report I gave them. Frustrating doesn't come close but regretting buying this game in June.

So just to inform - even tough my computer doesnt meet the new minimum requirements - (according to support that was a reason for constant crashing after 2.0.12 update) now that I swiched from win 7 32bit to win 10 64bit my game is playable again - without single crash (tested in cyrodiil raid battles) with even less lagging then before - now almost 0 lagg

So if U are getting laggs or crashes and u have the option to swich to 64bit version (win 10 u can for free even if u already on 32 - but u have to do clean install) - DO IT! Its not guaranteed to solve any problem but it worked for mine (unplayable game due to crashing to crash reporter every 10 seconds ever since patch 2.0.12, even tough game worked fine pre patch)- game is running smooth even in pvp raid battles, even better then pre patch 2.0.12 - its better then i could hoped for )

i dont know much about program spec so im waiting for the free update for win 10 would that be in 64bits or 32bits because i think thats what my win 7 is in.

I don't crash all the time but I have been crashing regularly since 1.6. I barely even play the game anymore except to check hireling bags, train horses and fill trading slots but I frequently can't get through those few things without the game freezing and getting the ESO crashed popup from Windows.

I recently built an entirely new computer with fairly beastly specs and a fresh install of Windows and the exact same thing is still happening. It's not every 5 minutes or anything but it's usually at least once every 1-2 play sessions. Pretty annoying. I guess it's good that I no longer pay a sub.

I was doing the same thing and u CAN get 64bit version even with 32bit curretly installed. Here Are the steps:

1st of all this is a clean install, ther is no option to keep your files - you WILL have to reinstall all programs. Be sure to back up all uor files!

If u didnt get the message that uor update is ready no point in waiting, u can manually start it:
Go to www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows10 and dowload 32bit media creation, run it and select update the computer - that will install win 10 32bit
Go to settings/update&security/ activation and check if win 10 is activated.
Dowload also 64bit version and run it (u will need 64bit computer for that so borrow one) - this time select create device and create cd or flash drive with ISO file.
Restart your computer and boot it from the created device. Install windows 64bit. When asked about licence
key press "skip" both times. Im also recommending going to custom settings and turning "sending microsoft all uor browsing information" and other funny options off

That should do it. Just to be sure u can check if windows is still activated but it should be.
Install eso and uor other programs.

Ah and if u get "something happened" error when using media creation tool just go to
Control panel/clock,language,../region -> advanced and change system locale to English (US)
No Idea why but that does the trick..

Thanks for the info. I was finally told after speaking with 3 different advisers that my graphics card is the problem as no longer meets requirements which I had come to the same conclusion. I haven't purchased one yet so will try the windows 10 install first since I now have my confirmation that it is ready to install. Failing that, then I can replace the graphics card.

Hi, I just wanted to help clarify a few Windows concerns and some specs limitations all in 1 post, so you don't need to read through 4 pages of this thread to search for info that applies to your system/OS. I'll try to list the items in order of criticality:

1. Windows XP and DirectX 9 are no longer supported in ESO. (see post #31 in this thread)
2. Win XP DOES NOT support DX11, it only supports DX9.0c. There are non-Microsoft hacks that allow higher DirectX versions on Win XP, but they will likely introduce compatibility/stability issues.
3. Do not try to change the usersettings.ini file in ESO to DirectX 11 if you are using Windows XP, it wont work.
4. ESO recommends a minimum of DirectX 11. The following identifies "official" Microsoft version support for DirectX:
   - Windows XP -supports- DirectX 9.0c
   - Windows Vista -supports- DirectX 11.0
   - Windows 7 -supports- DirectX 11.1
   - Windows 8 -supports- DirectX 11.2
   - Windows 10 -supports- DirectX 12
5. Because of ESO's latest memory requirements, it's recommended that for stability, you upgrade to a 64 bit OS, and have a minimum of 4GB of RAM.
6. You can get a free upgrade to Windows 10 (64 bit) if you currently have a genuine version of Windows 7 or 8.
7. If you are comfortable with your Current Windows 7 or 8, and don't want to upgrade to Windows 10, you can keep your current (genuine) OS and still upgrade it to 64 bit, legally and for free. Microsoft doesn't place restrictions on the architecture you use, only the version. Follow the instructions on THIS WEBPAGE to upgrade your current OS to 64 bit.
8. Assuming you have a 64 bit OS, you may still not have access to all your RAM due to BIOS system reservations. This can potentially cause problems if you only have 4GB RAM. I can think of 2 possibilities in your BIOS that can help get back some of that missing RAM, but it's completely dependent on your motherboard and BIOS limitations. See posts 9 & 10 below:
9. Some BIOS's allocate some RAM memory for your graphics card. It could be as high as 512MB, 1GB, or more. Here is a WEBPAGE that may help you to change that setting. Most of you have discrete graphics cards with plenty on onboard VRAM and don't need the additional (much slower) RAM reserved for it. The game engine should manage the loading of your discrete VRAM just fine.
10. Some BIOS's have a memory remap feature that if disabled could be reserving about 1GB of RAM for hardware. This was a feature mostly to help with 32 bit OS's limitations. With your 64 bit OS installed, you should enable this feature, if possible, to free some RAM. On some motherboards you may find the setting in a similar location as this: BIOS > Advanced > Advanced Chipset Features > North Bridge Configuration > Enable Memory Remap Feature. Otherwise you may need to Google your specific motherboard and look for the "memory remap" feature.
11. If you are having GPU overheat problems, then try installing a program like MSI AFTERBURNER. Then use the "custom fan profiles" feature of Afterburner to enable higher fan speeds at lower temperatures. You may have to experiment a bit to find a balance between best cooling and acceptable noise, every card is different. The stock cooling profile on my GTX-670 WAS NOT adequate to keep my card from hitting MAX temperatures and causing BIOS alarms. A better custom cooling profile solved all my heating problems and my card runs 20C cooler now (individual results will vary). Yes, I can hear my GPU fan more now when it's at max speed, but its better than my card melting.
12. I don't recommend that you use the overclocking features of MSI Afterburner unless you know exactly what you are doing. If you don't use an adequate fan speed cooling profile with your overclocking you can potentially introduce more overheating problems. I don't overclock my GTX-670, and I'm running in 4k resolution with minimal tearing and no artifacts.
