Anyone play this game for fun..or all power gamers?

MrHemlocks
I left ESO a few months ago because of what it became. Most everyone was a power gamer that needed the max of everything...stats, best armor, weapons.... I event read many threads where the players where using mathematical formula, parsing or whatever they called it, to best make their character. is this game now just played by power gamer, mathematical wizards and formulate the best for their character and not much else. I like to explore and what comes of it...comes of it. They explore just for unlocks...

Min-maxers, theorycrafters, etc. Yeah, we exist in many forms. But then again, find a guild that fits your play-style and you'll be fine, bud. :)

I'm 100% about fun. I don't even pay attention to what level I am and basically walk the land like I'm in an age of enlightenment Jack Kerouac story.

There are millions of people playing... yes... you will find you're min/maxers... but you are going to find them in virtually ANY game... you are also going to find casual... mediumcore... hardcore... rp and immersion gamers... you just have to look around.

I just started Wednesday, but I can already tell I'm going to end up being a wanderer. Yes I care about stats and helping my guild, but it is so great to just talk to everyone and walk the landscape. I chat with my buddies and roam. Don't worry, the casuals are still out there :)

I only want to be efficient. Have enough resources to see me through the battle and be able to get to the next one without waiting for Regen.

Other than that, if I am alive and the mobs are dead, I have done enough DPS and don't need to do any more.

There are definitely people who just want to play and aren't worried about having the best stats, or worried about stats at all.

I started back in February, my highest level character is level 14 and I've probably spent at least as much time wandering aimlessly, taking screenshots and trying to climb the scenery as doing things that give me XP or items. A few weeks in I put up a guild ad on the forum, specifically saying I'm looking for a casual friendly guild that will let me into groups even with my weird khajiit Templar build, and I got a lot of responses from guilds that sounded good, picked 3 and they've all been great.

It's just a matter of finding like minded people to play with.

I play for adventure, immersion, story and RP in a persistent world.

I also have a powerful build that I created myself without hyper-Googling and build-copying.

I have a balanced playstyle, in which everything I do is within character, for in-character reasons, and to enjoy story-progression and RP, but I am also capable.

... I'm sorry, @nastuug, this wasn't meant as a jab at you or at your preferred style of play at all! I completely agree with you that one might have to go looking for the right people that resonate with one's own preferences in order to enjoy these kinds of games even more. Apparently a very little known secret in the ESO community, some players actually enjoy min/max, playing their game to the best they can possibly be at it....it is their fun.

I know, it's very hard to imagine that not everyone likes to play exactly the same way. How dare a player seek to play the game their way instead of how *others* feel they should play.....they must conform!

It's a shame really that ESO didn't give players multiple options of play style, multiple guilds to join so they can find others like them, pigeon holing players.........oh wait :D

**Sarcasm aside, I'm not a min/max player in the least and I hate ESO's dungeon/crappy loot system....but ESO doesn't require you to be a min/max player....thus a moot complaint. The only thing preventing you from playing "your" way, is you.
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

I don't give a darn about powergaming my way through ESO. Hell, I pre-ordered and started playing during early release on PC, and even though I did stop playing for several months, I STILL haven't hit VR on any character yet.

My lead at work got the PS4 version and was saying he doesn't know what he wants to "do" yet. I pretty much told him to just play the game and enjoy it without worrying what you want your specific build and such to be. There's always the ability to respec later once you've decided what role you wanna play. Enjoy the game for what it is; a game, not some college-level math homework you need to make precise to get the best grade on.

All I can say OP is play the game how you want to play, you bought your game, subbed yadda yadda yadaa, so play how you want.

Aye sure there are elitists in the game, they are in every game genre.

Don`t play your game to pander to them or feel accepted by them or whatever, as said, it is your immersion, your game, your personal enjoyment.

Do not let anyone get to you ingame.

It is a fantastic game on so many levels, yeah sure there are many issues, but not gonna go into them, for once hehe.

    Happy gaming fella.

I have been playing since just a couple weeks after the PC launch.. and my highest character is a VR11. I have not completed ALL the vet dungeons, nor have I tried a single trial or DSA. I only go to Craglorn for my crafting surveys, and am still only in the VR8 zone questing wise. Oh, and I have 93 (?) champion points. Started with 43 when 1.6 dropped. And I play every day.

Yup. I like to fish, and pick flowers, and do 445351 things in game. :)

not everyone is a power gamer, but if that's how someone like's to play.. go for it. Of course, I try to be "smart" about my build, so that I can do well (thought not necessarily look for top times) in group activities. By no means am I doing math to figure it out.. jeesh. I do enough math at work.

Some people go for the min-maxing approach, spending all their time chasing the "perfect build" or such. Other people prefer to get their fun playing their characters. The two kinds usually don't mix well, the former have little patience with the latter, and the latter all too often find their fun spoiled by the former.

In the end, what really counts is finding some friends compartible with your style, and then having your fun your way. And just ignore the other people.

A good game, even a decent game will have strong players taut work to figure out the best builds and gear. They are important to the game. For the most part it is through them we figure out how the game is designed to work.

With that, there are always moderate and casual gamers and ESO has always had a good share of them. Even when you left there were plenty of moderate and casual gamers. They make up most of the community.
