back when I PvPed, I RARELY ever jumped anyone below VR1. in straight up combat i would ignore them and find a veteran rank character to fight. I've even fled from pre vets when they attacked because i did not want to soil their spirits by effortlessly killing them. heck i even hesitated jumping people below VR9ish... i often passed up a VR5 or 8 for a VR14.

not every vet PvPer is as you describe:/ sometimes its the rush of battle and we just kill on sight... some times we are just ticked off and go on a murderous rampage... its PvP, things like that will happen

People that take pride in killing players that stand no chance against are just bad sports. Leave them to their mindsets; arguing about it solves nothing. Not every vet PvPer is like that.

Bashing a lowbie to death is an art form that goes unnoticed.

After a solid performance I typically send them a whisper with a survey of questions, asking if they enjoyed it or not and how I can make their death as pleasureful as possible in the future.

Curious...with npc's 5 levels under you, there are no rewards. Why not have the same system in Cyrodil? Gankers would hate that, of course...but why should a v14 get rewarded for killing a level 30 at all??

I remember wandering around bloodthorn after playing on a dead Dawnbreaker 1.0 campaign. We got bored and decided we'd find some good fights ! About 20 minutes in i got facerolled by some v3 dk. I was v7 and pretty pissed. It took two of us (and one of us definetly got rekt) before that SoB went down. I think his name was Sypher or something. Our little group tried to 1v1 that v3 dk but he proceeeded to beat us in a variety of ways.

I never took ranks to mean that much after that day and not much has changed. Tons of v14's but thats' not what makes anyone OP.

Sypher is one of the best DKs in the game:D

Panda - you cant convince me to let a lower lvl player live due to "honor". How many times has your "honor" gotten your own allies killed after that lowbie level 30 set up a coldharbour siege and decimated a friendly raid?

OP - if you play pvp...you are in danger of being attacked. If you don't like it go play The Sims or some damn game that is not warfare focused. Or you can also L2P.

i think he means in places like delves:/

That level 30 can still be a threat on the field with siege, just as much as anyone else can be.

With your mind set, why even allow pre vets into a veteran dominated campaign?

Why allow pre vets indeed. Good question. My suggestion would not stop gankers. Gankers will gank no matter what...but it would discourage such behaviour.

Are rewards for taking out far weaker opponents scaled? Or do you get the same for killing a v1 that you do a v14?

When PvE-ing in cyrodiil hubs, i usually leave non-agressive enemies alone, especially if they are lower rank than me. If they attack me, i kill them once, then leave them alone again unless they keep attacking (being a heavy armor DK has the advantage that i can afford the luxury of letting the enemy have the first blow).
Only exception is if i get overwhelmed by numbers, then if i come back i'll take them out one by one when possible without warning before they can bunch up again.

When in PvP mode, i usually kill anything that moves, but then that usually happens in a keep battle so they know what they are getting themselves into.

the 5% I play pvp, I attack the people in front of me if they are enemies, I have no time at all to look at nametags and level of the people I engage in warfare with.

though if im running around solo pve in cyrodil, if I meet an enemy that looks like he/she is doing the same, I wait until first attack, and then the pain comes

    ^ Yep.

A low level in a vet campaign is like a skinny dude wearing flip flops walking into a dark alley at night in the worst section of town. The denizens might feel so sorry for you they'd leave you alone, but chances are you're gonna get whooped. But if you want to do it, by all means, since in game you can respawn, you can learn from it. But don't expect to be left alone. You are knowingly walking into a war zone.

I'm happy to show them the consquences as such. May not be a full meal, but appetizers are ok.

Agreed. It's not like we are not in a carebear game or anything. I can't imagine these players in a game like UO (pre Ren), Shadowbane, Age of Conan, or Darkfall. Gamers today are entitled, whiney, and spoiled. If you whine enough, eventually you can get your way. Thanks WoW!

Anyone who has seen combat or been to war will tell you a child or a woman can kill as well as anyone. This "I'm too low to be effective" stuff is horseshit. I saw a 44 nightblade finish off a vr14 sorc just the other day in Thornblade. If I see anyone of the opposite faction they are a potential threat. Level doesn't mean squat.

My rules with lower level players in PvP is this: If they are Vr5 and under i will most-likely leave them alone UNLESS they attack repetitively and try to kill me. Then i give no mercy, but yes, i usually leave lowbies alone. Veterans in PvP just love to kill other player. You should know, if you are entering Cryodiil, That their is a chance for you to be attacked by higher level players. If they constantly kill you, evade them. If you can't do that, join another campaign.

I don't look at names, alliance rank, level. If you have a little yellow or red shield above your head, I'm going to kill you or die trying. The harder I make it for an enemy to gain AP, CP, EXP, skill points, ect in Cyrodiil the longer it will take them to become a substantial threat to my alliance. In a way I'm doing you a favor, giving you pvp practice so that you're not a complete pvp noob at vr14. If you're anything like me, then getting killed in pvp just fuels your desire to get better and extract revenge on your enemies, making pvp more competitive and fun.
