Armor & Weapon designs are boring

I understand that this is a fantasy game but it's not a medieval simulator either, so a middle ground where both seemlessly come together aesthetically is needed. Skyrim is a good example of that, asian mmorpgs are way too over-the-top, lotr movies also has few good examples. It's amazing how the recent dye system could make huge differences with only colors. But the design and texture of each racial designs are just uninspired, one looks very much like the one 20 levels later. Not just the armors but also the weapons. They lack variety, power and uniqueness. It could be as simple as just adding furs/intricate patterns/glow/shine. Doesn't have to include rainbow flames and dragon teeth on every joints.

my mother tongue is Spanish but ... try to be as clear as I possibly can.
i always consider and I'm sure of it.
that when you design something when either a dress or whatever. it's bad, tasteless, inefficient and a example of bad artist. the fact of put things and more thing and more more .. etc when one has no idea of is doing he/she start to put chirimbolos as Christmas tree.
just keep that in mind. best desings are clean und clear !

Hey. Where did you get those clothes? . . . , At the toilet store?

Even with dyes the armor looks bland and uninspired. Weapons could use a bit more glow but not this bright glow that looks cartoonish, but a glow kinda of like when a weapon that's enchanted is unsheathed for the first time.
For the most part I find that armor and weapons are a bit insipid looking. That may be because graphics wise this game is beautiful and very closely realistic looking. I just wish that when you upgraded armor and weapons with legendary mats that it would stand out more cosmetically.

I agree :/ if there is one thing i really dislike about the game its the customization and character/armor design.
Most armor just looks like painted on armor,And seriously,All the concept art of armors and weapons looks so much better,They had so much details and more unique then the same boring old armors.

Many people seem to hate everything on other MMOs but you cant deny that so many other mmos have more detailed armors then ESo has,Over the top armors or not,At least Zos could make something more detailed as the armor of skyrim.
Why not take some inspiration from their own trailers? You know those epic three heroes? Cloaks? better looking armor?

I hope we get a complete armor, clothing overhaul one day

Aion and GW2 are pretty bad examples of design IMO.

I much prefer the simple, realistic approach ESO takes.

Realistic? sorry but eso weapons and armor just look like toy armor and weapons,I wisht hey at least made something more simmilar to skyrim and other elder scrolls game,They could give us some more detail at least instead of the painted on floating armor pieces we have.

I love ESO but i cant deny that the armor and weapon design is just dull :( I wish they put more work and detail on that.

Let players design armor sets and have a vote to get them implemented.

Best way to make set designs more interesting.

    Also

Games dont have Auras in them anymore these days, some sets that grant party/group auras (like vampire aura/speed aura) etc.
    Would be awesome additions.

Visual Glows on Weapons and armors also wouldn't hurt.

So I agree that the armor needs an update, but not in the direction you think it should take.
I think ZoS should focus on updating and differentiating the styles themselves, but they also need to balance that so players can wear multiple styles and not look like crap.

ESO's design is for the most part realistic, and are incredibly lore friendly. I do like their decision to incorporate bosses into armor design with the 2 piece set bonuses and hope they continue to expand that.

As for the Dwemer staff, it actually screams Dwemer at me. The head of the staff is a good representation of the dynamo cores that are used to power Centurions.
And looking at the Ancient Elf style it actually makes complete sense the way you describe it. Their society was incredibly magical and old. It would make sense for their armor to be simplistic and be the style of what most people see when they hear mage.
