1-10 Champion points a day would be absurd for a full day of playing I think. I doubt people in PvE are getting close to that.
I think for a full day of PvP getting 2-3 champion points is pretty reasonable.
I'd be happy to see an AP/CP conversion though.

The reason why they don't release any new content for PvP is the PvP development team are too busy listening and adjusting things based on the current whinings on the forum and can't work on new stuff.
So instead of Imperial City, you get new skills and passives with the intent of countering zerg blobs etc. So you are getting new content.
Alliance levels also grant skill points. With the in theory removal of Vet levels, PvP experience would be the only way to gain both simulatneously. So once again... no.

PvE kills give you EXP, gold, trophies, recipes and items to deconstruct for crafting. That nets you inspiration and, potentially additional gold. How many forms of advancement per kill is that?
