Provisioning Writs are lame.

I've been won over. I like the provisioning and enchanting writs.

I can't think of a way to make Alchemy writs really special, however.

The equipment writs don't seem to be worth the effort, to me.

I find the writs much better now than they were at first launch. The alchemy one is odd though, it never asks for high level stuff and always gives me low level water. Not a big deal, but I'm not sure if it's just how it is or if I'm doing something wrong on that one. (Might be cool to sometimes get potions like the PTS ones as rewards for high level alchemy writs - like the health, armor, SR one that we can't craft).

Sounds like you're missing some skill points into Solvents/reagents

Actually... when 1.6 launched I did make a different character my potion crafter and forgot I spec'd out of alchemy on my enchanter/provisioner guy. If you hadn't brought this up, I probably never would have realized that because he had been my alchemist for so long lol. Thank you.

The equipment ones give a decent chance at getting legendary upgrade mats, that seems worth it to me. Plus if you get the harvest map (esp in upper craglorn) you can get some good stuff.

Yeah, the only thing I could think of on the alchemy mats were giving the unique(ish) potions they give us in the PTS as rewards for top level writs. Maybe a rare chance for an xp potion once those come out...

Oho, This one thinks there may be profit in this. Perhaps this one can sell "Four-eyed Grog", "Lemon Flower Mazte" and "Clarified Syrah Wine" for a nominal fee of 25 each. This one notes that no-one has complained about the L10/L15 Food or L15 Drink recipes.

Seriously, I'd pay it. Been looking, and no one in game seems to be doing that (where I can find it, anyway).
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

Worst part, I literally just listed a green citrus malt recipe yesterday for 900. Might be in Windhelm or have sold already, though. The 10s and 15s go fast, when you list them.

You probably could have gotten a lot more for it. Volijars Honey Mead (I think) goes for 2,500. I have seen some rare greens for upwards of 5,000
I've been looking for that one for so freaking long! I can't even ever seem to find it for sale in guild stores. It's literally the only green recipe (currently) in the game that my provisioner doesn't know...

Which server are you on? I can check recipeezer scrooge and see if i have a spare (I am EU server though)

*ETA Might be gone now, or?
I appreciate the offer, but I actually finally found the recipe shortly after that post (and yes, the recipe did change names with 1.6), and I proceeded to do a little happy dance :)

Hey, open question for anyone who knows-- I have a level 7 character that I turned into my account provisioner to save on bag space and skill points on my main toons. When I do the writs I never get any vet level recipes, only recipes for levels 40-50.

Is this because my character level is low, or do writs really not provide vet level recipes as things are currently implemented?
It's because your character level is low. If you're below level 50 your crafting writ will send you to the last possible zone for that type of writ prior to Coldharbour (not all crafts have dropoff points in all zones - it depends on how many distinct levels that craft has for you to put skill points into), and the level of what you're asked to craft and the level of the rewards will be scaled accordingly.

Hmm, I might start crafting those and putting them in my guild store. I'll have to check on my available supplies of the ingredients for those when I get home.

    Suggestions to improving writs:

I have always felt a crafter should provide more benefit from the item she crafted as opposed to someone who merely purchases it. Currently only alchemy does this with the passive that extends the length of potions, which allows them to have more up-time on potions than a non-alchemist. (note: provisioning extension of drinks and food merely save you money and mats as opposed to deriving an in-game benefit).

I would make so for each writ you hand in, there is a small chance that a "discovery" is made that would slightly increase the effectiveness of the product/item that was made. If alchemists can derive superior performance to their potions, I do not see why not provisioners should not do the same for food and drink. Obviously there would be a cap to such things and perhaps a slow diminishing returns (ala the champion system). If people get up and arms about provisioners getting a few extra points in stamina from their Kwama Omlette or something, they always can use the writ system and eventually achieve the same benefit.

For Enchanters, we derive a little more benefit from our glyphs. This would also give us a reason to continue to collect and use glyphs instead of hording them if we knew we could get a small benefit from remaking our glyph of reduced X cost.

This might get tricky with blacksmiths, clothiers, and woodworkers as now potentially the actual weapons and armor they wield are better than non-crafters, which might be seen as undesirable in they eyes of some. Although it would not bother me, I don't know if this would bother enough to make such a change in these lines more trouble than it's worth. Perhaps a middle ground would be to simply increase something marginal; for example the benefit of a weapon enchant is so small and it procs so slowly, I do not see the harm in allowing woodworkers and blacksmiths to derive a faster proc and a small increase in the enchantment. For blacksmiths armorers and clothiers, perhaps give them a chance for a small increase on the set bonuses for armor.

Doing something along these lines would provide real mechanical reasons for crafters to do these quests. As there is already something to this effect for alchemist, I do not see this suggestion as revolutionary or game-breaking.

I also think there should be a "fun" benefit to doing these quests. Someone mentioned something along the lines of provisioners getting a chef's hat. I think stuff like that would *also* be pretty cool.

The actual problem doing that is that one needs to be with Guilds that have booths in the Region One starting cities for it to be useful. I used to be with "Super Market" but, because I jump between 8 characters, I'd hidden my gaming presence and they kicked me for not being online for a fortnight (although I'd been playing all the time). So now I'm only with 3 small Guilds which I'm too lazy to leave. I could LOL at the small amount of supplies I see in the Guild Booths, I have over 300 in some ingredients however I admit most of those are common and not sale-able.

I'd be willing to make the provisions and sell them for 75 a piece to someone for reselling in a R1 City Guild Booth. I know Nestor is in one of those Guilds but I think he can really do the food himself :). Anyone else? Sort of shared profit concept really.

#Edit: I keep batches 5+ each of "Four-eyed Grog", "Lemon Flower Mazte" and "Clarified Syrah Wine" for my lower level characters in the bank so if someone actually does want to try this I recommned selling them in batches of 5 or 10

I really don't like the quests on my compass. I keep mistaking them for real quests. I don't do them and never will. This goes for all writs.

Agree - and I keep meaning to feedback this. They need another icon, because as it is, they are a constant source of delighted-surprise, followed by disappointment, every time I see them.
