When will Mac players finally get the new facial animations

I gotta say facial animations were a huge thing to me when I heard they were being redone as I'm one of those players that sits and lets every npc go through their full dialogue. When I found out macs weren't getting it in update 5 I figured it'd be just a few weeks but I have yet to see any news about macs finally getting the updated facial animations. My macbook runs this game beautifully. Is their any news on when mac players will finally be getting this?

    You guys still don't have that? Oh man, that really doesn't bode well for when they have to update four systems instead of just two.

    Ohhh, I wondered about that. I thought maybe I was just imagining things 'cause the animations didn't look any different to me. I must have missed the news about the lack of love for the mac. *sigh* *sniff*

    yeah it's pretty frustrating. That was the most exciting part of update 5 and they still haven't given it to us or said anything about it.

    I've been asking this question in the ESO Live thread for months. No response. I understand that it takes time, but to not even receive an update on the progress is really disheartening.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno, @ZOS_Anybody,

    It's now May. 1.6 has come and gone and I haven't seen any news on this.

    I know they're working hard on console launch... but where the hell is this? When is it coming?

    I think we've had enough muppet-mouth.

    Break up with Steve Jobs (make sure you kiss him) and join Bill Gates (make sure you kiss him too) - problem solved.

    Jokes aside...
    They really do need to update the OpenGL version if that's what's causing the limitations, but atm - console is priority for them over PC, nevermind Mac which is even a more miniscule playerbase.

    The fact that Mac doesn't have this doesn't really bode well for the multi-system update. I hope we don't end up with different updates on different systems. That would be terrible.

    I've asked about this before as well. Still very bummed that this update hasn't been applied for Mac users. Also, my Mac runs the game beautifully too. Love it.

    Facial animations? I just want a game that actually runs as smooth as it does on windows.

    Occasionally I'll boot into windows on my Mac to play, and the difference is astounding. The game flows much better, the lag is much less, animations actually happen - with correct timing, etc. These things aren't a big deal to me during PvE but in a PvP encounter these split second issues mean the difference between life and death constantly.

    I know this isn't a complain about Mac thread, but as a Mac user I'm real upset with how poor the quality of this game is for us.

    PC players have become second rate customers to ZOS. I can't imagine how they feel about Mac players since they refuse to do such basic features.

    Folks, please relax. I've posted here that the minimum system requirements have been updated to include OpenGL 4.1, which could only mean that a renderer which supports FaceFX is in development. No ETA yet, but still better than nothing.

    While I agree totally with removing all the 'Mac hate' rubbish, it would have been nice if you could have answered the original question while you were here (if you knew the answer, anyway!).

    ^ This. If they can't make two different clients identical, what hope is there for four?

    I play on both Mac (native) and Windows (Bootcamp) and the differences are significant - and surprisingly, pros and cons on both platforms. The game does indeed look better on PC, lighting has more colour, the NPC mouths look like they're forming words,textures seem sharper etc. However, I find my mouse control much smoother on the Mac, and the game in general is a less juddery. Also, I get far fewer random loading screens on Mac than I do on PC (usually in towns).

    I use EXACTLY the same graphics settings on both, yet the difference is very noticeable.

    Personally, I don't think the MAC users are missing anything.

    I find the facial movements look like Britney Spears doing some bad lip synching... Half the time it's ventriloquism because the lips aren't moving; half the time the lips are moving and there's no speech.

    Could do without it and wouldn't miss it.

    The mouths lip-sync better than before, but it's still somewhat lacking since the characters have no real facial expressions and they do they same body movements over and over.

    An official update on facial animations for Macs can be found here, and information related to these requirements was posted a few days ago. We have no additional updates at this time.

    One other thing, please keep this thread on topic. If you’d like to discuss forum mechanics, you can create a new thread on the matter, or use this one. A number of off topic posts have been removed.

    @KhajitFurTrader,

    Thank you for the link to the other post. I don't exactly speak that language, but I get the gist of what you were saying: Updated system requirements likely mean that improved facial animations are still coming.

    That's all I needed to know (that they didn't just give up on it). Thank you to everyone that brought this post back to life. Most of the time we don't know what they're working on unless we ask.

    I'll check for news on this after console launch madness, and I'll be sure to pester @chris.dillman & @ZOS_AlanG since they seem to know what's up.
