Here you can see a comparison of the new Redguard and Orc armors. The current one is on top, and the new one, avalaible for testing below.
Tell me what do you think? What do you prefer?

My opinion
First I don't really understand the need of reworking the armor, are they were really fine, diversified and pleasant before.
In addition the ONE thing that should have been changed had not been removed. speaking about the HIP decoration that looks very bad on all armor, because it feel detached from the rest of the armor, serve no purpose and remind us that the dress/armor is actually a silhouette for a computer game that follow the character movement and not a real dress/armor.
If you rework on armor, please remove the HIP decoration.

While I slightly prefer the new Orc armors, I really do not like the new Redguard style.
The old Redguard style looked really fabulous! It felt mysterious, different, exotic, like the armor was made with a lot of layers of clothes, and large silk belt, and satin! It was one of my favourite style.
But now, its really not nice! :( The new dressed look like nightdresses. There is no more different layers of clothes, it more banal, its looks boring.
The light and Medium armor was really better before!

Please, do not change the Redguard dresses!

The redguard heavy i think looks much better. On your screenshots, you used the templar class, which gets a yellow-ish color scheme. Try selecting a dragonknight, his heavy gets a dark/silver color scheme that i think looks amazing.

I agree on the other armors tho. New light looks okay, but new medium i am not too thrilled about.

    I agree.
new Orc armor is an improovement,
new Redguard armor (especially light) is a step in the wrong direction

So who complained about the bare midriffs on the original low level Redguard light armor? The new prudishness is quite funny in light of the game now popping up an 18 rated warning when you start it up.

Why I do not like the new Light and Medium armor of the Redguard

I'll give more detailled feedback on what I don't like, in case the devellopers that created this new model read this thread. (No offence, of course to the one that created this new models)

The old model had several layers of clothes, which gave to the dress/leather jerkin, some relief and something unique. The way the layers are disposed make the torso looks smaller, the breast is nicer, and the skirt look longer and the waist, due to the large belt, looked slimmer. Anyone that know a bit of fashion know that its nicer to have legs that looks longer, a slim waist and breast that looks larger.
The old model also has a nice work of drapery that you do not find in the new model.

The new models, for both light and medium, looks more flat, more simple, more boring, less exotic. Like a Redguard armor imagined by a Breton tailor. It also lose its mystery.

Of course the new armor is not bad, but it was much nicer before, and I do not understand the reasons of the change.
In addition, as said @adriant1978 the low level armor of the Redguard left the belly naked, which was fitting, seductive without being inappropriate, and it was different.

I'm now very affraid that you are currently working on the Khajiit style - wich is my favourite - and making it not as awesome as it currently is! :pensive:

What have you done to Redguard medium? :'( It used to have layers, the legs and boots look horrible now. I don't like the helmet redesign either.

    I like new Orc though.

orc med is better now, but still missing skirts and robes from med(barbaric light robe is leather..) and heavy... just goolge chainmail robe or something

On PTS within every bag the head slot is missing.

Orc armors-weapons are good, I prefer the new ones.

About Redguard instead, especially the endgame sets:
    - as LA I prefer the actual live version
    - as MA I prefer the actual live version; the new one is nice but for the helmet that seems an ugly mix between Breton and Imperial with just the facial cover; on the new one, the shoulders and the plates on bracers, boots and lower part of chest seem floating and not part of the armor
    - as HA I prefer the new one
"... and the blue fire of Helluin flickered in the mists above the borders of the world, in that hour the Children of the Earth awoke, the Firstborn of Ilúvatar."
  • SouthernDiscomfort
For the longest time I thought that the heavy armour Orc helmet facial area was a bug, like it was part of the texture that was supposed to be cut. But I get it now that it's supposed in the same vein as some Mongol helmets, however the features just look so flat! Add some definition to the area, make the tusks 3D and some added grotesqueness that others expect of the Orc stereotype.
I like that they got rid of the cleavage on the breastplate on that armour too; it doesn't look right on gear made of combat, especially heavy combat. The plate leg guards look better too, love the added chain mail sagging.

I like the new Redguard Heavy and Medium armour and dislike some of the changes to the Redguard Light.

I think the main problem is the chest piece which feels way too plain and lacking in detail especially at the lower end. The current chest piece could do with reworking a little to look less corsety but not to be less interesting:

    6LDYcog.jpg

The light helmet is a marked improvement and is something I may actually wear now opposed to something I would always replace or /off. I also agree with Elloa about the hip pieces. There are several piece of armour with these floating stuck on mini-shields and they should all be removed as they look awful.

The Orc heavy armour looks better but I think the helmet still needs work. The face sculpt could be remodeled to be something more aggressive looking or "dehumanising" like a Samurai helmet. Atm it just looks like a rather bored Orc. Not keen on the pointy toed boots but that's probably just my preference.

The Medium Orc I really dislike the shape of the helmet. It doesn't match the other 2 weights of armour and personally it's not something I would ever consider wearing even as an Orc. Something more a long the lines of this would be interesting:

I like the Redguard heavy changes.
I do not like the changes to Redguard light or medium. I love Redguard culture, gear, swords, etc....but I'm not feelin' it with the changes specifically to the chest pieces for medium and light.

I'm pretty neutral on the Orc changes. I do like the look of the medium better.

I really like the low level light Redguard armor, now it looks so plain. I really hope they're not going to stick with this going forward. It looked like Persian silks and elegant garbs before now its utilitarian sand people. That doesn't follow with the lore.

I do love the pattern on the new Redguard light pants and sleeves. Imperial light is the only other crafted gear style that has a similar pattern if I remember correctly.

The new Redguard heavy would be good if the pants and boots matched the rest of the set better or, in the case of the pants, at all.

Look at them. They're not even heavy armor. They're leather looking pants, for some reason. There's a thread in the general forums about this. I'm hoping to hear back from ZOS about this soon.

Are these completely replacing the old styles or are they just a new, higher up option? I don't understand why they would remove an existing style, especially when 6 of the 9 material sets all create the same visual outfit.

But, if they made this new style for, say, Ironthread, Silverweave, and Shadowspun, but kept the old style Spidersilk, Ebonthread, and Kresh then I'd be okay with it.

EDIT: So I went into PTS and answered my question, it is a full replace. I don't understand why they would remove a texture from the game when the assets already exist. As shown by this thread, people like variety and have differing opinions, so rather than limit them, give them more options.

Moreso than the pictures posted above, I'm a bit disappointed in the low level Redguard gear change. Using Jute, the clothing is now much cleaner and, as others have mentioned, more covered, which no longer fits my somewhat slob of a character, shown below. I really liked the exposed scar over his heart (where I like to think Mannimarco stabbed him to take his soul).

The previous style had something that made me choose it over other styles, the new style would get lost in the crowd.

I just submitted a bug on the PTS, maybe they'll pay attention to that:
The new Redguard Heavy Armor leggings do not match the rest of the set at all. They look like light or medium armor - with buckles and straps - and definitely NOT heavy armor.

The flap hanging off of the belt/codpiece area also does not match the rest of the set's tertiary color. As you can see in the screenshot, it's very brown and not the yellow/gold color I selected. This is part of the chest piece.

The rest of the set looks fine in the update. Just please reverse these two changes. The original leggings and codpiece were fine!

For those of you who want the "skimpy" armor back (and I put that in quotes because, as far as RPGs are concerned, ESO was definitely not even bad), I can't say I necessarily agree. I do believe that the way other characters look can ruin another player's immersion.

If you can run around with exposed flesh and suffer zero drawbacks, why am I wearing full armor? Why would full armor even exist in this world if it's clearly not necessary? It's illogical within the established world, in my opinion, because it creates a paradox.

That said, I would rather go back to what we had (which, again, wasn't even that bad) than go forward with this.

I don't like the new redguard light armor, but greatly prefer all of the other new arbor, especially redguard heavy and orcish medium.

I'm actually town between using orcish medium gloves with a redguard heavy chest or orcish heavy hand and a an orcish medium chest.

Orc boob window is the only thing I won't miss, because it looks completely out of place in heavy armor (it doesn't bother me when I see others wear it, though). But the rest? The rest is all light armor, which was never meant to protect from physical attacks in the first place. It's just cloth. So it can be revealing without losing its functionality. I don't understand why this was changed.

Dang, I really liked the old armors good sense of balance and attractive design. The newer ones look slopped together by comparsion.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis
