I want my cinder storm defense (miss chance) back.

They removed the miss chance making this just a dot and snare... I used this ability all the time for the extra defense and now it's useless for that, with no real alternative.

    I would like the dodge chance added to this ability rather than the Dot, especially since it was a magica cost skill but I don't think it will be that huge of a deal in the long run.

    Or, you want the Medium Armour active buffed so it applies a snare and DoT?

    Well my night blade's miss chance ability was changed to a dodge chance and it still has supplemental buffs that go along side it (speed,armor buff). If ash cloud was left the same but the miss chance was changed to dodge I think it would have been a perfect trade off, the buff would have lost 10% of it's potency due to the standardization which would have been fine. Again It's something I would have preferred and I think would have gone over better but I don't think it's a game breaking Nerf in any way shape or form.

    I was far more concerned with Molten weapons being changed into a heavy attack buff as I liked using it in pvp for added fire damage on top of my disease weapon enchant as a 2h user spamming heavy attack in pvp isn't really possible in my expeirence.

    So the last skill under Earthen Heart is a targetable AE snare + dot that everyone can just roll out of? Do I have that right for the fifth ability of Earthen Heart? A waste of [snip] mana!

    Buff effects good, medium armor skill is fine and has nothing to do with this conversation.

    cinder storm being complete crap now is what I have a problem with, I'd rather a complete redesign instead of being just a snare with really crappy damage. (which it did before in addition to it's main effect of the miss chance)

    I also want the miss chance back, I used it as a tank during trash pulls to protect the healer. You don't have aoe taunts so healers are vulnerable during trash pulls.

    This would be ok, with the way they have buffs and debuffs setup they'd probably have to make it a buff to any allies standing in it instead of an enemy debuff.

    Cinder Storm was big part of my tank rotation.

    In 1.5 Evasion does not stack with Hist Bark. If it remains the same in 1.6, Evasion is not an adequate substitute for Ash Cloud and morphs.

    I really do feel that this is not an acceptable change to the ability. I completely understand removing miss chances from the game, but it needs to then be replaced with dodge chance buff or perhaps regeneration buff. As it stands now it's become a lousy ability that I don't want on my bar, taking the place of the once hated Inferno.

    Really if we're going to have to take time to aim it, it'd better come with some sort of debuff. Most players in pvp are going to roll out of it and now that tanks aren't going to be using it to keep trash off the healer, they should be able to use it to debuff the ranged enemies.

    I'd rather they simply give me a dodge chance buff, but if you're going to go a different route, make that route worth the effort (it's a fifth rank ability after all).

    Yeah, the miss chance is gone from Ash Cloud and Blinding Light and Sparks are completely gone in 1.6. If you like the play style, the closest thing I could find on the PTS is a Championship passive called Tactician that sets an enemy off balance if you dodge the attack.

      • Quick Cloak (morph): This ability provides the buff Major Expedition for 5 seconds.
      • Deadly Cloak (morph): When cast, this ability allows you to throw a dagger that deals high damage. This ability can only be used once, and only within ten seconds of the cast.
    As you see here, Templars took a nerf to their Blinding Flashes ability but at least it was replaced with a viable Tier 5 skill. Same thing goes for Dual Wielders who use Sparks, lost a good ability but at least its been replaced with something that could be very useful and is definitely on par with Tier 4.

    For Dragonknights we've lost one of our most useful and commonly utilized Tier 5 abilities and had it replaced with a crappy Snare. WTH is that ZOS? Oh yeah, lets not forget that a Tier 2 passive adds innate Snare to our fire attacks so another Snare is COMPLETELY USELESS. So now we have a high cost area effect NOTHING that will take us 40 levels to unlock. Thanks a ton. =/

    The point being that not only has ZOS completely screwed the Ash Cloud ability, theyve done it blatantly with total disregard for DK players or any sense of fairness or balance whatsoever.

    As I am not one to gripe and complain without some sort of constructive feedback, I will say the easiest solutions were stated above. Simply add the Major Evasion buff to Ash Cloud and nerf or remove the Snare. 20% Dodge increase is acceptable provided it can still stack with gear passive effects such as Hist Bark.

    All we did this update is exchange 1 unused T5 skill for another. The only way this would be useful without the miss chance is if the radius was large enough to give a positional advantage for a melee class or for a raid as a cheaper forward snare. I wouldn't mind seeing it become a castable group buff either as I rolled DK because it was the closest to a buff class that I could find.

    All miss chance was removed from eso.


    Inferno was used in pve dps. Ash cloud will be used too, as it's damage is better and it will be another dot for valkyn procs.


    Its a big loss for pvp and for pve aoe tanking. It was a great mitigation skill.

    I don't usually agree with posts that complain about DKs since they have always been over buffed, but this was a bad move and I would consider it an unnecessary nerf.

    I don't know about adding the Major buff, but a Minor Evasion would be acceptable. This being an AoE skill, it shouldn't be too powerful, but as T5 ability, it definitely needs something other then a snare. There are already too many options for AoE CC for DKs. I'm not sure if this is happening now, but keeping it as a Minor Evasion buff as I suggested AND having it benefit friendly players would be perfectly acceptable IMHO.

    But I'm too cool to play a DK, so my opinion is inessential.

    Speaking for my DK, I'll take that any day over a 30% miss chance debuff any day. It's ranged, It's spammable (without suffering from CC immunities) Builds Stamina with the passive, reveals stealthers (Free Flare). Yes please.

ZoS swapped an ability that dropped at a tank-type's feet and made them more survivable while you forgot about it, to a distance based ground-targetable mess that takes three clicks, (choose skill, locate and then activate.), and does a snare that any tank would find useless, as they were using it on in their face mobs.

    didn't know that hovering over a location was considered clicking ....

    you're still not getting the miss chance back, its too op in pvp, deal with it, as other classes had or are having to deal with stupid nerfs / useless buffs
