Just a question for you @DeLindsay - Have you tried reading any books from bookshelves? Is there a chance you can get skill increases this way like other skills?
It's a good thought but I'd imagine it's like Undaunted, Mage's Guild, Fighter's Guild, WW, Vampire, Soul Magic and Alliance war that don't Rank up via books.

Well I would assume not, but, it goes to twice the level of those so it kind of falls in between, hence why I asked.

Yeah, but I think he's comparing it to skills like Alchemy, Woodworking, Blacksmithing, Clothier, Provisioning, Enchanting, Bow, Destruction Staff, Dual Wielding, One-Handed Shield, Two-handed Weapons, Light Armor, Medium Armor, and Heavy Armor.

    Something like that.

If someone reads a book and find out that it increases Legerdemain let me know and I'll add it to the OP. Sadly my main has literally read every bookshelf in the game and that will be the toon I do most of Legerdemain on so maybe I'll have to jump on alts now and again to test it.

Hehe, yeah it would be nice if somehow we could improve lower sets to VR14, even if that made it bound or something, not that it isn't already bound the moment you equip it.

For NA it should be Midnight EST but I haven't tested it yet, I was busy testing Vet Dungeons on Live tonight but tomorrow I will find out when it resets for Legerdemain. On one of the PTS builds it was 9pm EST, but the "daily" for Pledges resets at Midnight EST so that's what I'd go with.

Yeah I haven't tested Legerdemain on EU at all so all my info would be based on what I can personally find on the NA Server, sorry.

EST is EST. Each time zone has its own name and abbreviation. Here is a pretty good world time zone map that shows the differentials of all time zones relative to GMC . If you hover over any of the cities, a popup/tooltip will show you the abbreviation (EST, CET, etc.) for that zone.

Pricier neighborhoods like the Wealthy would live in. Look for Homes that say "Manor" on the door when you mouse over it.

Don't forget as well that there is the Blackfeather Court Whistle from Crowswood which gives you 1 meter improved stealth radius for 30 seconds.

    Wow, forgot all about that.

I unlocked Legerdemain just by unlocking a wilderness chest. No need to go dark if you don't want to.
As a stealth NB I really wanted that first skill.

EDIT: of course, as a longtime ES player I want to take everything I can get away with, so steal and fence,

I found that it's per hideout. If you go a different zone and hideout you can sell and launder again.

It's global unfortunately, you must have had the daily flip on you in the process of Zone hoping to another Refuge. I thought the same thing on PTS 1.6.0 but after lengthy testing on 1.6.2 found it to be daily, period.

I wasn't actually online for the daily flip of Legerdemain but am now thinking it's 10pm EST not Midnight. I will try to be online tomorrow to make sure.

So - I was wondering how people are getting on with this skill line now after 3 days? I'm up to level 10 and working through the achievements. Also got a tip - if you need somewhere safe to go and lie low - try the city in coldharbor. It has no fences, but more importantly, no guards.

oh - and although the value of stolen items shown on the first page is usually correct, I have stolen some white items that were around 114 gold - usually fishing line or something via pickpocketing.

Thievery is definitely not for me. I can't pick locks at all, don't know why. I'd prefer they get the Dark Brotherhood in the game. That would be so much fun. It's what I always played in the ES games. It is cool, though, that they added this for the thieves among us.

Yeah I had heard from a few today that Coldharbour is a chill place for Thieves, I will check it out when I have the time and maybe add a little bit in the OP about it. As for that Fishing Live I will try and find things other than the standard 30g White items you find in Containers so I can adjust the OP with all the prices. 114g, even as a White, would be superior to the 100g greens. As soon as I have concrete stats on where those type of items drop (like if it's ONLY from Pickpocketing) I will adjust the OP with that as well, thanks for the tip.

As for Level I'm at 9 because after leveling it twice on PTS it's hard to do it all over again on Live now, so I'm taking my sweet time with it. That and I've been busy testing out my new 1.6 builds in Vet Dungeons, Trials and PvP to make sure they work lie they did on PTS.

On a really strange side note. [Guts] that you get from killing a Livestock animal used as Fish bait cannot be Laundered, only sold for 1g each. Seems odd to me that they can't be Laundered.

I like what's here now, but here are two ways I'd improve it:

    1. Thief Stash Skill Line - allows you to bury some of your stolen goods anywhere outside a city where they're safe from guard confiscation until your fence accepts new items. 1 point could give you 1 stash with 2 slots and 1 easy lock, 2 points 2 stashes with 2 spaces and 2 intermediate locks, 3 points 3 stashes with 3 slots with 3 advanced locks, 4 points 4 stashes with 4 slots and 4 master locks.

    2. Thief Scout Skill Line - to balance the stash line, 1 point gives you a scout map every 24 hours with 1 random stash location that has existed in the past week. 2 points gives you a scout map every 24 hours with 2 random stash locations that have existed in the past three days. 3 points gives you a map every 24 hours with 3 random stash locations that have existed in the past day, and 4 points gives you a map every 20 hours with 4 stashes that are at the time of delivery no older than 4 hours.

It would really play up the risk-reward element and add some intrigue and strategy to the theme. Is that item worth 250 gold safer buried or in your inventory? How many "upstanding" citizens would secretly mine the scout line for profit?

This also establishes a motivation for the first rule of the Thieves Guild (circa Oblivion): Never steal from another member of the guild.

Bangkorai, evermore; is a fantastic city to be a thief in:)

also, do not go into a building if it has even ONE guard in it. If you get caught, you can't get out and are screwed.

What I learned from thievery: never leave by the ground-floor doors if you can take another exit! I was ransacking Vulkhel Guard for stolen clothing towards the "Indecent Exposure" achievement. When I left the Fighters Guild, there was a guard standing right there in front of the door outside. I don't normally hang out in Vulkhel Guard, so I have no idea how often this sort of thing happens. I'd forgotten I had a bounty, so I basically had no choice but to pay up and turn over everything since I was stuck in a doorway and didn't fancy dying. Worst part is, my bounty had decayed to only 5 gold. I was nearly in the clear when that guard turned up!

Same thing happened later when I left Brightsteel Armory after deliberately getting a bounty (for the "flee one hundred times" achievement); a guard just happened to be walking past the front door and saw me. From now on, I'll just take the fall damage from leaping out of second-story balconies when I have a bounty on me, or, if that's not an option, keep a good supply of invisibility potions on-hand. And do a better job of remembering not to go on stealing sprees when I have an active bounty, haha.

I did get the "Indecent Exposure" achievement after two stupidly failed attempts, though. :D For those cursing the lack of belts lying around, loot containers that would normally contain clothing in real life: drawers, cabinets, wardrobes. I found one belt in the lighthouse north of Vulkhel Guard, and another belt in a cabinet in Skywatch Manor.

Alliance agnostic: all factions should chill the fetch out and party together.
If you ever wonder why certain official fandom spaces are so often toxic and awful, remember: corruption starts from the top. And if you don't want me to call you out for being terrible, maybe you should consider not being terrible. ^^v
