I still am impressed how EB pulling some games in australia turned into ZOS removing all traces of ESO from all stores.

Especially considering that IGN updated their story to reflect the fact that EB Games formally announced that it was part of a normal stock recall they do each Christmas, and it did not pertain only to Elder Scrolls Online.

Of course, the update on Kotaku is quick to explain how EB Games couldn't possibly be telling the truth about the recall being something normal that they do.

Meanwhile, the manager at my local EB Games here in Canada had no idea about the recall taking place, which suggests to me that it really is limited to Australia.

ZOShas the right not to comment on rumors, maybe people get tired of spreading them eventually.
I hope they don't change the business model. They have a good subscription game, designed with that in mind, and they're improving upon it. P2P is the way to go to maintain quality and steady development.

On this subject, they have exercised that right, without wavering, since Launch.

Silence on this subject has always been "business as usual" for them. The only way silence could be used as an indication of confirmation today is if they had, in the past, countered the rumor.

If they are aching to confess something to us, they will get to it, eventually. It will be hard for them to drop the subscription model without letting us know.

Clear answers here on why they went with a sub based model and why they wont go with a f2p model.

One of the Facts from that video:

"People who were using the 6 month option before, now have to pay more for their subscription than they were previously."

I don't recall any statements that indicate this is true. As a matter of fact, people in the forum here have said that they are still subscribed to the 6 month plan. Has anyone stated that, when it came time to bill for time, that they dropped them down to a 3 month plan and charged them at a higher rate?

I don't care much for the implication near the end that says that taking a vocal stance against F2P is "fanboi" while a vocal stance for F2P is "common sense".

I will say that both podcasts are very excitable over this. I dislike both of them and ignore them both equally, but I am sure those of you who follow them will enjoy the next few iterations of this battle.

This is a fact. You can renew your 6 month sub if you already have one.

Awesome! I went and checked and yep, my 6 month subscription will renew when the time runs out!

Incorrect on PS, not sure on XBox but I think it's similar. Playstation Plus membership will not be required to play ESO on the PS4. This has already been public since January of last year. Don't know why this assumption persists.

One of my trading guilds constantly has close to 500 players. The interesting thing though is that the guild has to replace on average 30-50 players per day. The guild only kicks players with 7 or more days of inactivity. The player base is shrinking rapidly F2P is coming.

I haven't played in two months but I'm still subbed. Waiting for 1.6.

Dark Age of Camelot has easily less than a few thousand players and still has a sub. Population size does not really matter. Better a smaller, better community than a large player base filled with annoying children. (Though I would like to see cheaper subs as some people play more than one game)

I am actually surprised that EA has not shut it down.

In any case, the ESO apple does not fall far from the DAoC tree.

and Zenimax, please say something at least.

Lets say they deny it publically. People will still continue with it. Claim other companies denied it yet went f2p anyways. All that stuff.

Hmmmm i see your point and agree. Initially there was a storm of f2p rumours and general nonsense. Now we're on the other side of it so to speak zenimax making a statement wouldn't of done much good.

They've always said they not doing anything besides a sub game so hopefully they will stick with that

This subject is becoming so annoying already that I decided it was time...

...it was time ESO had its own, custom "horse-beating" art.

The article posted on kotaku states that all ESO games and game time cards were asked to be returned predicting that ESO will either be going free to play or buy to pay instead of subscriber based. Is there going to be a statement on this soon? I'm not even sure I would play if it goes free to play.

    This is the article:

    http://www.kotaku.com.au/2015/01/eb-games-is-removing-all-copies-of-elder-scrolls-online-from-stores/
    Why post this?

It's a rumour based on a lack of information and as others have posted here there are several more plausible reasons than the one that web site .. and MMORPG.com .. chose to sensationalise.

    Why post this?

You're surely not expecting ZOS to say 'yes' if that's their plan, if they so 'no' people will quite rightly point to precedents set by Turbine (LoTRO) and Trion (Rift) and Bioware (SW:TOR) as earlier examples of 'no' meaning "we're not ready to deploy it yet".

    Why post this?

No useful discussion will take place, the arguments have been thrashed to death since a few weeks after launch, it simply provides another place where the haters can hate.

    Why post this?

I 100% know that ZOS develop trial-account system (since patch 1.5).
    And I 100% know that f2p-games has no trial-account ;)
