Nightblade's Stealth - Completely Broken? Possibly resolved?

If you want to do big damage from stealth and then disappear in the blink of an eye...... Reroll a 2h sorc use crit uppercut from steath and bolt escape. Use crit surge and invis pots for added fun

Overall I am pleased with Update 4, ZOS team. That said, out of my eight toons, my DW NB is the only one I am dissatisfied with in terms of ability issues. I noticed a decrease in stealth radius long before this update even with racial passives, armor sets and careful positioning and concluded it was an unpublished nerf to stealth. I was detected by trolls, plants, undead even within a rear 90 deg. arc. Even now mobs go alert then sheath weapons at very long range. Additionally, I do not always land a hit from stealth let alone a critical, which is not what my ability tool tips advertise. While I am touching on this point I rarely ever get a crit (initial attack) while Shadow Cloak is active from any position while in melee. I must be crouched in order to critical. This along with the PvP issues mentioned in other posts, it's failure to cleanse dots, and failure to break combat/line of sight...Shadow Cloak is not functioning at all. Monsters will chase me even while spamming the cloak three or four times in succession without breaking "stealth". Thank you for reading.

yeah, i noticed that the class feels way too tampered with. I too enjoyed my NB but i am finding them the class i am playing less and less.

I can confirm this is broken for me also. I cannot necessarily feed when approaching an individual from behind, when there is a group I definitely cannot. This despite being a maxed out VR6 NB.

Would be good to get a statement from ZoS on this, I cannot imagine this is intended behaviour.

Agree with OP, Nightblades need changes that make them feel different from the other classes, Nightblades need their strengths played to.

Sneak detection rates should be way less than any other class.
Sneak speed should be way better than any other class. (Incl. Vampires)

I mentioned this in another thread but I'll repeat it here: 25% Sneak Speed from CW passive is pathetic and barely noticeable. It should be 2x that to make it worthwhile.

Dark Stalker should be a Nightblade passive in the Shadow tree, not a Vampire one. "Gain 60% sneak speed while a Shadow ability is slotted." Or even in a similar way to CW; "When Dark cloak is slotted gain 60% sneak speed."

As for Vampires; Dark Stalker should be replaced with a passive "Gain xxx% speed whilst sprinting." From a lore perspective this would make more sense. It's common knowledge that Vamps have super speed.

As it stands, the choice for Nightblades is: "Be a vampire OR wear this crappy armor" Personally I hate being a vampire, it ruins my look! My tree hugging, forest loving Bosmer would never choose that life. I have a hard enough time getting med armor to work without having to wear a specific set.

It's fundamentally unfair that non Nightblade classes can be better at doing Nightblade stuff than actual Nightblades.

Agree 100%, Its so easy to be a NB with any non NB. How many of us does there need to be so ZOS would open their damn ears and start listening.

I play for fun too and never really worried about the competitive aspect, but now it has cross the point where my NB is not fun in pve anymore. I don't even feel like I am playing a NB considering a LV 3 has just as much stealth capabilities. No one wants to play a husk of what used to be a Nightblade.

And that for me is the biggest part, with groups of 3 or more all having eyes in the back of their heads now, means getting that 1500 hit to start off, isn't happening, nor am I likely to get that feed in.

So many little glitches, it's hard to know where to begin.

I have noticed since patch that NPCs in Cyrodiil have a HUGE stealth detection range now. I can get spotted by a tower guard on a keep and have to run halfway to another keep to clear the in combat status in order to stealth again.

Seems tower mages also got a spell range boost, as said keep tower mages continued to fire spells at me when I was all the way back at the nearest friendly resource.

Also any word on when NPCs will stop being able to shoot you through walls and floors?

We have been making complaints in a mainly constructive manner for several months and if anything my NB gets worse after every major update.

I see these anecdotes of people getting pwned in PvP by Nightblades and then claim that the class is not broken and in some cases claim it's even OP. What they don't realize is that any newb with a bow could do the exact same thing. There is nothing special or unique about Nightblades. They have completely castrated our class defining ability which should be a 100% successful invisibility that cannot be broken or seen through. All of our defensive buffs are a complete joke and are not worth the slot they take up. I had hope for this class but that is starting to completely dwindle.

Stealth is now broken for me too. I often cant feed- I get detected before the option comes up (and I am a 7 piece medium NB vamp with all passives), mobs detect me much further out than they did before 1.4 (I enter a room I used to be able to sneak through and they are on me) and after hearing another of my guild members mention that it is even worse in Cyrodiil, I tested it out and sure enough... it is worse there. I cant snipe an NPC from stealth. Even at that range I am detected before I can get a shot off. I am really curious what it is that the developers have against nightblades....or are they punishing us for complaining about the broken cloaks? I gotta admit that I am just about ready to step away from the game. It is to the point that it is causing more frustration than fun.

IF you don't like playing with bows, resto staff or sword & board then you better kiss your nb goodbye. Atm trials is about stacking DK's for dps and temps for healing.

Yeh, have done plenty of trials on my Temp main. I am not a selfish player, so I am fine with running whatever is needed to help my trials group. Trials are pretty quick so it should not be that huge of an issue to run a viable build for trials and then swap out of it when you are done.

My concern is more about bugged/broken stuff than what build I will have to run in trials.

I am downloading archeage right now. A good friend will be playing it too, so maybe I will give it a shot. Not 100% sold yet (the founder armor looks sexist as hell, I would aim right for that lady's crotch because it has no armor other than that loin cloth) I have heard it's hard to get a leg up if you don't get in on the ground floor. So we'll see. It releases today in a couple of hours I think.

I will be reconsidering my paid sub to this game, but I am not completely giving up yet. It is really hard to switch to a new game when you are already established on another one.

When I left Rift 6 months ago it was not P2W. You could get BIS in game but only sub-BIS in store, and I never spent a penny in the store, but still raided and beat nearly all end-game content.

As far as F2P goes, Trion handled it quite well and I had no issues with their model. But I did have issues with the attitude of the players that started to appear, so I quit and moved here.
