Would you like to see ingame Inspect option Introduced?

No! Don't Introduce an ingame inspect option.(please explain).
but only in a manner of speaking. Having your character Inspected is a bit like being naked, I know some people like it, but I don't personally want to be exposed to strangers. I do, however support a "Show" function, where the player can choose what they will show and then do so to a specific other character. Then it becomes the choice of the player who is being "inspected".

I don't seeing it add anything positive to the game. If you see someone wearing something you find interesting simply ask, generally people are happy to show off their stuff. What it does do based on other MMOs is bring about a certain amount of elitism, especially to those players who pug a fair amount who get excluded from groups because "inspect" shows them not being up to elitist standards

No. It only leads to elitist circle jerk fests and people belittling others for having a job and life outside the game. There is no reason for it and no excuse other than to support epeen behavior.

I wouldn't mind having an inspect option that only showed what type and style of gear a person has. I really only used inspect in other MMO's to find out what cool looking gear was.

    No need to show stats/build/achievements.

So far we've got 75% of people saying no to any inspect option. That certainly seems to be in line with every other thread I've seen on these forums posing the same question.

No, seeing as my experience of it in other MMO's is either to exclude people or give someone an easy route to being carried through end game content.
If you want to know what the gear is because it looks good, just ask. There is no other valid reason to need to inspect another players gear.

I would only say yes to inspect if they removed the ability to kick a player from the group. Since that is not going to happen, I must vote no.

Sure, just make it like Inspecting from older MMOs.

ie: You can request to inspect a player, and they have to accept your request before you can see their gear.

All players would have the option to turn inspect requests off via UI if they don't want to be bothered by random people sending inspect requests.

Didn't vote, because there are 4 "Yes!" options and every single one of them sounds intrusive.

I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.

Eh, I dunno, I don't consider myself an elitist. It would be nice to have the option to check somebody out w/ their consent who has a really awesome set of gear or weapons or something.

I'm pretty sure that's the original reason inspecting was introduced in the first place.

I see someone wearing something really cool.

I ask politely for the name of the item, and possibly how they got it.

Say YES to inspect. I don't really care about your 'leet' achievements or 'leet' skill builds. I don't even care what stats an item has.

It's elitist NOT to have it.

since you asked for opinions, here's mine in a nutshell

while *elitism* is one of my reasonable concerns, it's not *just* elitism - the people often accused of *elitist* behavior are often as clueless, opinionated, and self-indulged as the people they *accuse* of being inferior. The tool you're speaking of, in at least some of it's iterations, is exactly the type of tool they would use to tell themselves the things they want to hear and believe.

Now, don't get me wrong - there are *real*, dedicated drains on groups...sometimes. I've met a few - but those people are rarely a drain solely because of their gear, or even their chosen playstyle, but primarily because of their mental attitude - there are few really reliable, quantifiable metrics to identify these people - you just have to play with them to realize that they have no sense of focus or responsibility for the rest of the group.

Now, I know that *some* players have come, over time, to recognize patterns in builds and gear that can be warning flags for a drain player, but sadly, I find those people to be far, far fewer than the *** that have found the one or two builds *they* think are superior, and just decide to hate whoever doesn't fit *their* sense of an ideal build, and that seems to be what tools like you're describing *usually* get used for.

lastly, bad builds, bad gear or not - I find the true test of a really top-notch group, is being able to take a less-than-optimal group, and keep it together long enough to pass through a challenging encounter regardless. People who stay calm, stay supportive, offer to teach members of their group that might be missing a beat or two - I've found the best, longest lasting groups of skilled players are people that are willing to start from the above foundation. It's not easy, it's *definitely* not fast or optimal - at least, not to begin with - but I find it to be a tremendously more satisfying experience, and a far, far better tool for building better teammates for life - and again, your proposed tool, doesn't really seem to support that mindset.

anyway - those are my thoughts on the matter so far - perhaps someone will bring up something that changes my mind

I think this poll is the final nail in the coffin for the "vocal majority" who wants to inspect others.
Even though there are 4 ways to say yes to an Inspect option and only 1 to say No, the No's have an overwhelming 75% majority.

I think we can put this subject to bed now.

That's not being elitist, that's just being rude. There are always going to be people like that, and I can understand that it's frustrating if you really want to know but they won't tell you. But the negatives far outweigh the positives in this regard, and at the end of the day if someone doesn't want to tell you what their gear is (even though they obviously could be more polite about it) then that's their right. Not everyone likes to share their ideas.

    :/

    I'm asking for your opinion.
I'm not sure if such an option should be introduced.
It was useful in other MMOs but I agree it has some disadvantages.
Furthermore, the majority is always right, so if you're against it for whatever reason, you are more than welcome to state your reason.
I opened this poll in order to reflect the different opinions.(Yes or No).

The majority is always right? One billion people believe in a supreme being living in the skies above. That doesn't mean they are right. The inspect option is something I would like to have in the game, but only because I think it's interesting. The huge drawback of course is the fact that it brings out the worst in 17 year old elitist players who think they should tell every other player in game which gear to wear otherwise you can't join 'his' raid group.

4 yes and 1 no with a requirement of explain? Like everyone says in WoW every 2 seconds. LOL!

If you want to know what someone has, ask them. Works for me.

ESO have brought back 3 MAIN things. First....you can actually play without knowing any numbers in damage or healing. You can learn to "see" the difference. Just like in EQ. Its a PLAYER skill to do that.

They also brought back testing gear and things yourself. Sure, you look at guides and gets tips from friends, but the best is always to test. You find out on your own that standing in a red circle in a dungeon is BAD! More and more do this.....without the computer telling you.

Like it or not. ESO has by FAR the nicest zone chat in any active bigger MMO today. In all zones over level 20ish, zonechat is more or less common chitchat and "nice".

What does this have to do with an inspect feature? Players have to DO things. They have to interact. Instead of the computer feeding you all info.

Inspect feature like WoW, No freakin way! You have an inspect feature in game. Its called looking at the person in front of you.
