But what happens if you don't play alot?

I've been hardcore into MMO's most of my life. But I'm at a stage now where my wife and kids, my job, and the gym take more priority than my playtime. It's just the way of things.

Skill-wise, though, I'm not worse than other players, and better than many. I simply don't have the time to dedicate to gaming. I've been playing since early-access, and still don't have a single VR12 character. And I don't do anything alot. I do a dungeon or two one week, and go along in PvP the next.

Personally, I'm fine knowing I'm usually a step or two back. VR10 versus a VR12, I know where I stand. It's the nature of having other priorities.

But it's not the first, or second season of gear that has me worried. It's the year later. Am I stuck buying these gear sets, instead of crafting my own gear like now, even if I don't want what they have to offer? What will be the power difference between season one and season four, for instance? It's got to be high enough to make it worth working so hard to get. And how will they bring crafted gear in?

Honestly, I'd rather then focus on other carrots besides stat increases and gear. New skills, abilities, effects. New mounts, pets, costumes. Even new set pieces (crafted and looted).

If they add new levels every three or six months, that might not be so bad if it's only two. But at this point in time, there are too many 'ifs', and so much precedence in the MMO world.

Quite honestly, if I'd wanted a game that focused the entire end-game on gaining new gear to prepare for the next expansion, I would have chosen games that already exist and have a ton more content to them. I *specifically* chose ESO because it was different. And I've loved it so far.

You have the wrong idea... the previous season gear will be easy to obtain so there isn't a huge gap in the player base. for season 3 S2 will be easy to get and S1 wont even be in the picture anymore.

The question to me is, will it invalidate crafting. There's no way to know yet. But if it's easy to buy the previous season of gear, then crafting takes a huge hit. Unless there is seasonal crafted gear.

Ruze Aulus. Mayor of Dhalmora. Archer, hunter, assassin. Nightblade.
Gral. Mountain Terror. Barbarian, marauder, murderer. Nightblade.
Na'Djin. Knight-Blade. Knight, vanguard, defender. Nightblade.

    XBOX NA
Ruze is a veteran of the PC Beta, lived through the year one drought, survived the buy-to-play conversion, and has stepped foot in the hells known as Craglorn. He mained a nightlbade when nightblades weren't good, and has never worn a robe. He converted from PC during the console betas, and hasn't regretted it a moment since.

He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.

This is an multiplayer game. I should be able to log in, join a dungeon, join a battleground, queue for a dolmen or world boss or delve, teleport in, play for 20 minutes, and not worry about getting kicked, failing to join, having perfect voice coms, or being unable to complete content because someone's lagging behind. Group Finder and matchmaking is broken. Take a note from Destiny and build a system that allows from drop-in/drop-out functionality and quick play.

what if crafting is the way to get the previous season gear? I'd be fine with that, doesn't throw it out and I'll have something to work for.

It's a valid concern and I don't think they have mentioned it yet. If they have, please link it. But I would be shocked if you won't be able to craft at the very least one season behind the current season. In fact they are more than likely going to make recipes available to craft gear that is on par with seasonal sets. Crafting is very important to them and they have been very clear about making sure it is a viable way to acquire gear that is on par with the best in the game.

So while they have rolled back on a few of their initial "visions" for the game, I highly doubt they will alter their vision for crafting. That is just my opinion.

I'm mostly fine with that. I guess as long as I can bring other sets up to the level of the last season, that's not too bad. I'm also worried that we'll be limited in what we can wear due gear sets.

At that point, though, it's kind of 'wait and see' for PTS before we can go much further.

I just watched the QuakeCon panel.

By 'seasons', they seem to mean that each new batch of content will come with new gear, which is typical of all MMO end game. They also stated that the previous 'season' gear will be easier to get and perhaps even purchase. So people more into crafting will actually be able to get some of the best gear in game, but not THE best or THE latest, by doing what they enjoy without being forced into the Trial grind.

Personally, I like that idea. A lot.
Brunhilda Icehammer - Nord Dragonknight, 'Smith & Enchantress 'What is 'ranged? I need to hit something!!'
Laehl Direthorn - Bosmer Nightblade, Purveyor of fine Clothes, Bows and Staves
Reeza gra-Zuni - Orc Templar 'War Shaman' and Apothecary
Noemi Snowpaw - Kajiit Dragon Knight - I laugh... or I'd have to kill you.
Kitera Dreamon - Breton of The Dominion: Because those Daggers don't appreciate a great Mage.
Lysara Shadowcroft - Dunmer Bloodmage: This will only hurt a lot.
