I agree everyone, this is complete BS..I bought my Xbox 360 when it came out, and then they released a newer one with a bloody hdmi port and later on.. they gave free copies of Mortal Kombat with it!

Oh wait... we're talking about ESO..I was having flashbacks to virtually every other thing i've bought early in life....

But (I'm assuming here, never owned an xbox) you could still buy a copy of Mortal Kombat if you wanted to, correct? Not so here.

Thing is...no one here has complained about the price. Hell, most people are pointing out something that entirely refutes your sarcastic comment...in your example, a person could trade in their old XBox and pick up the new one...people often do with new versions. But in this case, there is literally no way for us to throw money at them and get the dog on our account. We could buy a new account and completely restart...but that's more like trading in your XBox, hard drive, and all your games just for the new version. One option they could do, let us pay 5 or even 10 bucks to attach our accounts to Steam and get the dog (if you have Imperial). They get to make money, we get Steam access for our accounts (which is half the issue itself), everyone is happy.

If you just want steam support, you can buy the game on steam (which will put you under steam) then just log in under your regular account.

At least that's how it worked in Rift when it was released.

If you just want the dog, well i guess you're just going to have to go without.

There is countless games that have offered promotions to people buying things later that you could not get otherwise.

Who exactly has given out a Steam Key for a game you bought and played already?

No game has ever done this. Only one game has actually allowed you to convert the non steam version to steam and that's path of exile.

Uber Entertainment did this for their Kickstarter backers for Planetary Annihilation.

How is it not so here? you can buy a copy on steam if you like.. Not diffrent than buying a game and then a few months later that game comes out as GotY eddition, with all the previous DLC for less than you paid for the original.

It is absolutely commonplace for businesses to offer perks to buy products at a later-then-brandspankingnew date. Got a cellphone? Get a plan, wait a month, look at the provider website, my money's on them have added/changed to to make it a better deal - and it doesn't apply retroactively to you.

It really is false entitlement to think that just because somebody else may be offered a different/possibly more enticing deal then you were offered that you should be compensated.

This is not a cellphone business...or a cable/satellite television business, but I'll play along. In both of those business models, whenever something like that happens, you contact customer service and get 1 of 2 results...either they lower your monthly costs, or you cancel and take your business to their competitor, who is assuredly offering up something for new customers. I just left DirecTV, where I had been a customer for 9 years, for this very reason, and I'm saving a ton of money. At the end of the day, the customer should be king.

I am not a fan of offering up exclusives to future customers that can not be obtained in any way by existing customers. In this particular case, many people consider a dog to be a vastly superior pet to something like a mudcrab, because it's something we can all relate to. For me, I've wanted that specific pet since the first time I've seen it on the full pet list...especially after reading the Hero's Guide book. Now I know I will never have it, and don't have any option to get it.

As many others on this thread have stated, I have spent way too much money on this game, buying the physical Imperial edition for myself, 2 digital Imperial editions for my wife & son, and a copy of the Hero's Guide. I'm in for $360 before you include monthly fees. This won't be the reason I quit, but it sure as hell won't be a reason to stay either.

That's... Disgusting. Scream "entitlement" all you want, it doesn't make this any less awful. There's no reason for this to be restricted to new players coming in from Steam when you have countless veterans who've played since beta.

Considering that I have wanted a dog pet since the beginning, and supported this game by preordering Imp Ed, this is just about enough to make one desub. ZoS just continues to *** up, seriously.
Force weapon swap to have priority over EVERYTHING. Close enough.
Make stamina builds even with magicka builds.
    Disable abilities while holding block.
Give us a REASON to do dungeons more than once.
Remove PVP AoE CAP. It is ruining Cyrodiil.
Fix/Remove Forward Camps. They are ruining Cyrodiil.
Impenetrability needs to REDUCE CRIT DAMAGE. Not negate entire builds.
Werewolf is not equal to Vamps/Bats.

Because I'm not just buying a new copy of the game, I'd have to pay a second sub fee and the thing would only be available on that account. Not interested in completely rerolling my VR12 when they could make more money by offering it as a separate purchase to existing customers.

I believe this is not correct. If we buy the game on Steam, we are not able to use our existing ESO account. It seems it would require making a new account and starting over.

Is this pet not going to be in the game?

On steam it says 'special pet' rather than exclusive. I've not seen a list of pets that are coming.

I wouldn't go as far as to unsub, but I've been having my list of frustrations with this game grow exponentially in the last two weeks. I've had game-breaking bugs in dungeons, class imbalance problems holding back my group of friends (they're nightblades, we have no AOE, and they aren't overly skilled anyway), general enchanting leveling frustration, more game-breaking bugs outside of dungeons, etc, etc. And now poor business practices.

I mean I really love this game and I'm looking forward to the next update, but my patience might reach a limit if things don't start to show some improvement in the next couple of months. I know they are trying to fix the issues and want to balance classes slowly, but the pace of class balance tweaks is almost nil.

I'm pretty sure that's how it works, Since you're still logging in through the ESO patcher, and not through steam.

That's how it works with Rift anyway....

You'll likely have to go to the ESO site to activate your account, per usual. It will probably have a key from the Steam purchase for you to use. The question is whether or not the account manager will accept a second copy of the game. I'd vote no.

I'd also never spend $48 to get a digital dog, but for those who would, I don't think it will work. Of course that's just a complete guess.

You do understand this discussion is not about the discounted price, right? It's about offering an exclusive to future customers that is not available to existing customers.

To use your analogy, say you bought your full price Prada bag yesterday, and today you come in the shop, and they have a new, better Prada bag that you like much more than the one you just bought...and it's even cheaper. You walk up to the counter with it and you're told, sorry ma'am, you already OWN a Prada bag, so you can't have that one. That Prada bag is only for new Prada customers. Please put it back. B)
