pets don't show up in Cyrodiil anymore.

I can't summon my pet while in Cyrodiil. If I have my pet summoned before I go to Cyrodiil, it goes away while I am there.

I don't think your concern would raise any issue any longer, they appear to have coded pets out of Cyrodiil entirely.

did they actually turn them off in Cyrodiil?

I'd actually sign on and test that if I still had a pet.

The wolfhound vanity pet is a limited-time bonus available only to those who buy the Imperial Edition of The Elder Scrolls Online through Steam.

If we buy the steam version can we ADD it to our existing account in some way?

So, the only option for people who want the dog pet and already shelled out for the pre-order Imperial Edition... is to shell out for another Imperial Edition? Wow... :|

If ZOS is contractually obligated to only give the wolfhound to new steam customers, I propose the following alternative:

Give those of us who have been with you since the beginning the option to get the tan dog as a customer loyalty bonus.
hmm, I suspect that they will add a Palomino Dog to the cash shop soon. xD

I used to whisper other Daggerfall players and tell them to unsummon them while they were stealthing, but I have not seen pets running around in weeks.
I just signed on to test it and sure enough my pet disappears. Trying to summon in Cyrodiil gives me a message saying I am unable to summon my pet in an AvA location.

I'm actually quite pleased they responded to this issue, I'm just not sure when they did it.

I don't know if there have been games that have added them later, true, but there have been a number of games that I've bought in a store and then added to my steam list, getting both a physical copy and a Steam copy. There's options to activate a game on steam where the game code will work as a steam code, and there's also an option to add a non-steam game. You aren't getting a second copy or anything, it simply gives you access through steam.

Maybe it is entitlement, I usually avoid going that direction, but in this case the frustration is the complete lack of option. We're used to the case of "oh, this thing got given out before I started. That sucks, but I guess it makes sense" or "I can choose to buy this version for this pet or that one for that pet" versus this new "I already paid for this at full price months ago, but now there's a new option that was not available and I have no access to". It could also be because there is no other dog. But as I said in my earlier post, Zenimax usually pulls through, I'm going to assume they will for this.

There is no maybe, its straight up entitlement.
There's no such thing as "entitlement" when paying for goods or services.

Don't worry guys, we bought the game for 50% more, and got a crab. We won.
  • kassandratheclericb14_ESO

Who exactly has given out a Steam Key for a game you bought and played already?

No game has ever done this. Only one game has actually allowed you to convert the non steam version to steam and that's path of exile.

    Kinda my point. :)

There's no way Zenimax didn't know they'd be pissing people off with this.

If they add another wolfhound, maybe I'll forgive it, but until then, this is going into the records under both "unappreciative" and "greedy".

If ESO follows every other MMO, eventually (6 months or later from now) they'll either attach it as some sort of in game reward, or open a cash shop and sell it. This will of course happen along with all the other pets.

It is absolutely commonplace for businesses to offer perks to buy products at a later-then-brandspankingnew date. Got a cellphone? Get a plan, wait a month, look at the provider website, my money's on them have added/changed to to make it a better deal - and it doesn't apply retroactively to you.

It really is false entitlement to think that just because somebody else may be offered a different/possibly more enticing deal then you were offered that you should be compensated.

No, it seems even if we purchase the Steam version, there is not any way to connect our existing ESO account to our Steam library to access the Steam Community features. You would need to make a brand new ESO account for the Steam version and start over with your characters.
Hey, @IcyDeadPeople‌. No, if you were to purchase the game again through Steam, you would not be able to apply the key to your existing account.

This confirms what we were all thinking, then. Any word on other dog pets available to existing subscribers?

When i can get a tiger mount, i'll gladly pay to get the game again. People should just get used to the game giving different rewards to future buyers. It's been common practice for wow for YEARS. ZOS is here to make money, not loyal costumers. Isn't that obvious to people by now? Stop subscribing if you really want to make a difference. Well, try to make a difference anyway:p You'll be back within 3 months.

This is a huge mistake. You're basically telling your existing customers they don't matter anymore since they already bought the game.

I'm a bummed to see this as well. Finally a vanity pet worth having and those who have supported the company since day 1 will not have access to it. Very bad move Zenimax.

I don't want to be compensated. I don't even want the thing for free.I want the option to throw away my money on the same pixelated dog or a visually similar equivalent. I want to give them more of my money for digital pixels that I will never physically touch, for pete's sake.

I completely agree. As long as everyone has some way to get the same things through purchase from a third party vendor, buying from a virtual store, or otherwise, I will never complain. (in terms of vanity items) The only exception being preorder bonuses since everyone technically could have bought the game then.

I agree everyone, this is complete BS..I bought my Xbox 360 when it came out, and then they released a newer one with a bloody hdmi port and later on.. they gave free copies of Mortal Kombat with it!

Oh wait... we're talking about ESO..I was having flashbacks to virtually every other thing i've bought early in life....

Thing is...no one here has complained about the price. Hell, most people are pointing out something that entirely refutes your sarcastic comment...in your example, a person could trade in their old XBox and pick up the new one...people often do with new versions. But in this case, there is literally no way for us to throw money at them and get the dog on our account. We could buy a new account and completely restart...but that's more like trading in your XBox, hard drive, and all your games just for the new version. One option they could do, let us pay 5 or even 10 bucks to attach our accounts to Steam and get the dog (if you have Imperial). They get to make money, we get Steam access for our accounts (which is half the issue itself), everyone is happy.

To add insult to injury, the cost of the imperial edition on Steam is about $48.00... a bit more then half of what I paid... perhaps I will ask about the Dog tomorrow... along with the other questions I have... if I could just remember what they were...
Of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most...
