I think it's more like "This post is stupid but I don't feel like getting into an argument with a moron"

    Also, laughing at/with you

Ok so I guess I will leave this forum then since I have a 66.2% LOL rating. :( sorry I didn't know I was so hated.

Don't let bullies make you leave.

If the moderators had any sense, they would remove lols.

It is obviously being abused and they know it.

Let's agree to use the awesome button if they take the lol button. Let's keep our voice heard, even if others would silence us.

You're such a patriot. Click awesome on my posts and put me in my place, mighty judge.

Oh . they are indeed very zealous in their sniping and they have been so since the start. The are very protective against comments about hippies and will probably snip words like homogeneous. If the ZOS bug removing division would have been as effective as the sniping team this game would have been bug free months ago.

    That's a little melodramatic, don't you think?

It's like saying, "If doctors were as effective as people flipping burgers at McDonalds, we'd have a cure for cancer months ago."

One may not have anything to do with the other. "Snipping" posts to erase text that goes against conduct takes -seconds-. Repairing bugged software, in most cases I assure you, takes a -lot longer-.

I frankly don't give a damn what others 'mean' when they click on the 'LOL' button. To me, it means they laughed. If they 'intend' it to mean something else - do they think I and other readers have ESP or something? They're being stupid. Everyone knows what "LOL" stands for - laughing out loud. Like others in this thread, when I see LOLs, I take them as a compliment, regardless how the clicker 'meant' them to be taken.

"I am clicking LOL as my own passive-aggressive way of making fun of you," is about the dumbest thing I've read on this forum.

I had someone actually straight up tell me he was loling my post because he disagreed. That's probably the only way he could have been more passive aggressive about it.

If it makes people happy, then whatever. Don't take it to heart. It's just poor socialization.

LOL's are from both "I disagree" and "hey that was funny". I've seen it used both ways many times. It's a flawed system.

It depends on context. If you made a purposely funny comment and recieved a lot of "LOL's" then it's a good thing.

If you wrote something serious and you got a lot of "LOL's" it's a bad thing.

I've gotten lol's when it was not funny and there was no reason to disagree. Some people at this forum abuse the unlimited use of the button and stalk other members posts. I even placed a support ticket about this, which they said they were moving up to higher support, and I never heard back. The moderators consider it harassment.

This is pretty much the case. There is no reason someone should be allowed to drive-by agree and not drive-by disagree. I don't always have "something to say" yet want to express my agreement or non-agreement.

Removing the Dislike Button is just an Orwellian form of tyranny. You have 4 ways to "like" something in a different way but no official way to dislike it in the same way.

I'd say it can mean either funny or your idea/post is so bad its laughable.

Though I wish forums and social sites in general didn't give into the care bear mentality to remove/not include dislike and/or disagree buttons.

Many people can/will hit the agree button without actually understanding/knowing/caring about the actual nuances of the argument posted.

Lets insist they demonstrate reasoned for voting with an 'agree'.

From now on, all buttons ought require an essay proving comprehension of the topic and answer before they are tallied.

Why should 'agree-sheep' be blindly accepted if 'disagree-sheep' are not?

Hmmm, what I don't understand is there's so much flaming in this post yet it's not closed. If I started this type of thread it would have been closed after 4 posts. Guess I don't understand the definition of flaming.

Did he bother to say why he disagreed?

Because if he did, no need for the lol
If he didn't waste of a post.

I have no problem with people disagreeing with me, just say why, sometimes I even change my mind.

What ever negative button there is, it will more than often be used by people who want to just make someone feel bad. They want to do this because they feel worse inside and can not let out that bad feeling in real world.

Feel free to LOL at all my posts so you can feel a litle bit better :)
