    This seems counter-productive.

More LOL's = More Points = More Stars behind someone's name. For some odd reason, more stars tends to equal more respect on the forum for that person (though I have no idea why).

So basically you are respecting people by laughing at them.

Actually lol's do not give points. You can easily test that. Lol badges may give some points but even then they contribute very little to the point count.

Second I do not agree with your assessment of the 5 star status. It means very very little and anyone that thinks a 5 star post should carry more weight deserves a lol.

In my case it depends entirely on the post that gets the LOL.
If the post was meant to be funny (and I know how to read Internet sarcasm, most of the time) my lol means I'm laughing *with* you.
If the post was meant to be serious but I think your point totally missed the mark, I'll be laughing *at* you.
And if it's a nerdrage type rant which meets my sincere and wholehearted disapproval, I'm hoping for something slightly unpleasant to happen to you, like an onion falling on your head.

Yea, when you are looking at the Post by Post breakdown of your LoL's you can pretty well figure out the intention.

I post a comment that is marginally ignorant and inflammatory. I get 4 LoL's. Probably 1 of them is from a sympathetic soul that thinks I'm hilarious and the other 3 are from people who are decent, and think I'm a jerk.

Sometimes I'm genuinely funny, and get a LoL or two.

I think the problem lies in the fact with when you look at a profile, and see that a guy has 400 LoL's. and you can't figure out if he's the funniest man on the planet or the worlds biggest mega@#$%$

in your case its most likely the latter.

also if you want to separate the meaning then ask for a "disagree button" and "i hate you and every thing you just said button".

funniest thing about this thread is when people tell you what they use LOL for you get butthurt like we just pissed in your coffee.

im sure some of your insightful posts where actually insults as well, because you know that is a thing too... guess i shouldnt have told you that your universe might explode inside your head.

@Bolo_Bob , you know for someone who insists on highlighting the silly drama of these forums, and within the overall tone of your posts there is heavy implication that you are above it all; you are unusually aggressive and insulting. Lol

Not that I mind, I just had to point out the irony.

you should evaluate your own posts.

its funny how you throw attempts of insults around and then get all butthurt when someone responds.
i understand you tho and that is what makes reading your posts so funny and entertaining.

responding to your posts is like throwing oil on a fire, which is funny, but i will stop posting in this thread just so i can watch you squirm because i wont flame war with you anymore.

i am above the drama here and it gets to people like you that i dont get all butthurt about everything like you do.

I personally believe they should remove the Awesome, Agree and Insightful buttons. Providing 5 ways to "like" and no way to "dislike" is Orwellian. It is the stuff of tyranny.

Because there is no "Thumbs Down" button the LOL button has become the "I am laughing at you" button.

Agreed. either take away all the buttons. Or add one dislike so that the others have meaning.

Kudos on the "Orwellian" reference. very nice.

An agree vote requires no explanation ... because agreement exists, so further explanation would be wasteful redundancy.

A disagree button should require explanation, for if you said to someone who had just made a statement, "I disagree." Without adding anything else, you'd rightly be perceived as a dunce.

Back in the day of secret PTS, someone was going around hitting the disagree button like a mad man on everyones profile so they got rid of it. Big surprise, a troll utilized the tools given to him to *** off the players on PTS and beta. It worked so well they actually started a thread to commence a witch hunt to find the person doing it all just to attack that profile, thread was quickly deleted and so was the button.

Never said Silence - just trying to get over if you have an opinion, express it - don't just hit a button. Also, be constructive - not just tearing someone else's reasoning down for the self gratification of trying to make yourself look better / funnier / cooler than them.

Explain yourself and add to the discussion. Don't use a tool to give some humorous individuals praise a negative twist.

    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.
